I had decent odds and plenty of chips to call pf. I checked the turn, he bet 2/3 the pot and I folded. With his call on the flop, I figured he had something pretty good and he wasn't going away. The king opened up too many hands that could have beat me. Though I guess if he had flopped a straight, he would have checked on the turn... I was actually more afraid of the guy who did the minimum raise than the button. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would have fired on the turn...but thats the crappy thing about playing out of position.

Anyone else use http://www.officialpokerrankings.com to track their MTT play? I find it very useful. Keeps track of a lot of things. The best part I think is being able to look up you opponents and see their ratings and their cashes etc... Tons of free good info available. Im currently at a 95% rating. Pretty respectable I think considering I have only gotten serious about my MTT play in just the last month and a half or so. Mainly it tracks Stars and FT results. I am sure a lot of other people in this thread know about it, just throwing it out for those who might not.
On a side note, something I mentioned before...there is a huge opportunity in rebuy satellites. As long as you remotely know how to play poker which most of us seem to, its a great way to turn a profit. I know most of you will sit there and say, "But there are tons of morons in rebuys, they are pointless" True, there are tons of morons. Thats the best part. It adds to the prize pool, ESPECIALLY IN REBUYS. I am talking 100% about the sats on Stars. You can sell Stars T$ for around 93% on the dollar, but thats not the point. You can convert the T$ into real $ by playing other non sat tourneys. Either way, I am and consider myself a good poker player, but I know there are a lot better than me in this thread. Check out my stats on OPR and look into the sats, its a great way to help your bankroll. I cashed 3/4 today in the $5r ones. I double buy in and add on at the break for a buy in of $15, and $55 to the top 20%+ which is great. So some of you look into that and get back to me on what you think about it too.

finished 299th in that freeroll and it's my own fault. K high kept pushing my QJ into the pot and I made every single stupid, stubborn call and even reraised a couple times...

damnit, finished 256. so frustrating to keep almost getting there in these 12000 people free rolls and then getting beat with like 100ish to go. I did it to myself tonight though. Pushed with three suited cards on the turn with KK. She kept betting minimums and calling my raises, so fuck it. Shit happens with a 4,5 suited I guess...

Never have to make big laydowns, never go on monkey tilt. I may have found my calling.

OK so there you are, playing at a $.25/.50, 6-handed table and you look down at two bright red queens. Yay for you. So, like any good player, you raise to $1.75. Everyone folds but one guy, who you have covered about $60 to $50. Unfortunately, you have no read on this guy because you've been watching old episodes of Friends. You're such a fag.
Anyway, flop comes 2s 3c 5s.
Not a great flop but hey, you bet anyway because you're not a big pussy. $3.00, or about 3/4 of the pot, and he snap calls. Very interesting.
The turn comes, and bam, the 3s comes for a board of 2s 3c 5s 3s.
Once again, you fire, this time $4.00, and he min raises you to $8.00. Well, you contemplate and decide you really want to find out where you are, and reraise him to $16.00, and after several seconds, he calls.
Well, the river is kind to you and schwing, the Qc spikes on the river. You have about $40 in front of you and he has $30. He checks to you.... what is your play?
And lastly, the most important question of all, what does he have? Did you need the river to win, or were you ahead the whole way? 5/10/2008 11:59:17 PM |
Mr Scrumples Suspended 61466 Posts user info edit post |
How could you lose with that full house?
And anybody's guess would be he's betting a draw?
If you say he's got quad 3s thatd be hilarious.

Nah I am absolutely acknowledging you're ahead after the river, unless by some miracle he has quads or a straight flush.
My question was do you think you needed the river to win? 5/11/2008 12:06:22 AM |

Ok...so I have come up with my new plan to get lots of money on FullTilt. Play the 300 or 400 Fulltilt points SNGs. 9person SNGs that people just don't care about. If you win...you either get a 26T$, satelite into a sunday major, or something bigger. Then you just unregister from your tournaments and collect the cash. Easy Game.
Oh by the way...David is the truth. Even though he plays too many hands. LOL

It's essentially the SNG version of their MTT leader board, and at least for the blocks of 100 looks very beatable at the lower levels...

I started the hand with $39, so I was just trying to get as much value as possible - not protect my hand.
I make a lot more small bets to keep people in hands when I short stack, I also slow play a lot. It's really not that big of a deal if they catch a card to beat me.
1.5 weeks into the experiment, this is how I've been running:

i won second place in a poker tourney last night (14 people playing total).
i could have won first but i fucked up twice (i'm pretty new at the game)
i had a flush and showed my cards too soon because i thought we were done betting (oops, at least it was the last round, but 3 other players were ready to go all in--dang)
the other time i had an ace and my second ace showed up on the river (we play hold'em) i went out of betting because i didn't want to bet on the last card not knowing what it was. the pot was fucking loaded too. i could have easily won first place if i played those two hands better
oh well, i'll take second 5/18/2008 4:20:23 PM |

i frequently place in the top finishers when i play because i never bet unless i have either an ace, k, q or a pair in my hand
and when i do bet, i only bet the minimum
i pretty much sandbag until someone decides to throw down a huge bet, and when i match it they don't really expect it and take me as a new player and i ride their ass to the bank
last time we played i finished 4th (top 3 get money)
the best part is i play with a sheet that tells me what all the hands mean and i refer to it as i play. haha i'm that new and i still beat these people. 5/18/2008 4:25:53 PM |

For that data I bought in for the min, $40. I'd leave the table whenever I got up to $70+ and reload to $40 if I dropped to $25 or less.
I figured that with as much time as I've invested in learning the full stack 6-max game, I could come up with a pretty effective counter strategy - so far so good. There are a ton of very good regulars at 1/2 who adjust horribly to short stackers.5/18/2008 4:39:43 PM |
