We were involved some before he committed to Florida, but not that heavily involved.

Is Treetwista getting Evtimov confused with Chris Colmer or Bryant Feggins, I can't tell? Both of those guys were actually granted an extra medical redshirt.

Evtimov did play an extra "senior" season in high school to improve his recruiting stock, but I doubt he knew that.

What a random post, I wish hodge got 6 years like evtimov (who didn't get 6 years)... um?

I thought Evtimov played 6 (partial) seasons for us, maybe it was just 5

he seemed like he was here forever

oh well, I'll take my superior NBA knowledge over your superior knowledge of Evtimov's high school career

I think it was 5. IIRC he tore his ACL in a preseason game and missed all of that upcoming season.

I asked a while back but does anybody know anything about Antonin Galaya? He has us listed on Scout with medium interest and we look like we are the only school on there worth playing for.

it would be great if Hodge is right and Painter is really coming along. The starting line up we'll have with Harrow/Javi, CJ Williams, Scott Wood, and an improved Painter coming off the bench looks pretty bad ass on paper

Predictions for our first 2011 commitment?

We're losing Tracy and Javi to graduation, and prob CJL to the draft. We ought to at least grab a big man and someone to relieve Ryan.

These guys would be the perfect replacements for Javi and Tracy.

Indeed, Sid's connections would be a good "in" with Quinn Cook, a rising senior at Sid's alma mater. Who are you referring to for a replacement for Tracy?

add that to us having arguably the toughest in-conference schedule in the entire ACC;

unc x 2
wake x 2
duke x 2
clemson x 2
fsu x 2

uva, bc only x 1

better temper your expectations. with that brutal of a schedule, making the NCAA will be difficult. bright side is, if we do we would be dangerous and tested.

^^^^^^^ ah, Mikael Hopkins. My bad man, I'm on here at work - I think IT blocked the image.

Even though we're not included in his list of schools, I'm sure Coach Lowe has checked him out at some point. I haven't seen anything in the news about him.

Quote :
"In the flurry of late signings and de-commits, very little has been said about Karron Johnson, who originally committed to Oklahoma State, but has re-opened his recruiting in hopes of ending up closer to his hometown of Richmond, Va.

Johnson has looked at nearby University of Virginia, but according to Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com, he's leaning more toward joining the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Zagoria added that Johnson has dealt with maturity issues throughout high school and community college, which is part of the reason why he's bounced around from one school to the next.

Bob Huggins has never shied away from the challenge of instilling discipline in a young man, so Morgantown could be a great fit for Johnson. The rising junior is known for his on-court intensity and rebounding ability, two qualities that are valued within the WVU system.

Johnson is still being courted by Iowa State, Cincinnati, N.C. State and Kentucky, so this story is far from over. Also, the Mountaineers remain in the running for unsigned forward Kyle Cain, which could potentially complicate things as well, especially since Cain has listed playing time as one of his primary concerns.

"Johnson is a super athletic forward that has improved his perimeter shooting. He can make open three's with time and space but is still streaky at best from behind the arc but he repeatedly flashed and cut across the lane and knocked down mid range turn around and fade away jumpers out to 17 feet with great elevation and follow through. Johnson has great size and strength as well. He can rebound in a crowd on both ends and will tip dunk offensive rebounds if not aggressively boxed out. Johnson also can rebound and start the break and if he is not picked up he will take it coast to coast. He also sprints the floor in transition and can finish at the rim through contact with ease. Johnson plays with urgency and is always looking to make a play on the offensive end. He must work on his open floor ball handling and passing against pressure if he wants to receive quality time at the small forward position but if Johnson continues to improve the sky is the limit on how good he could become.""

On ESPN Insider -- I dont recall hearing anything about this kid, and I didnt feel like checking this whole thread. Anyone know anything about him or how hard we are persuing him?

I haven't seen much about any 2011 recruits, but those that we're in on for the 2012 class seem to be really good. Getting in early with Uchebo could be huge.

Here's Johnson, who graduated high school in 2009. Scout.com says he's enrolled at Laurinburg Prep here in NC. So he's likely trying to enroll for this season.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncstate/basketball/recruiting/player-Karron-Johnson-53822

http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=2371479

And from the USA today last August:

Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford said Wednesday that touted recruit Karron Johnson won't be joining the Cowboys this season. Ford said Johnson is instead headed to a junior college, but he hopes the 6-foot-7 power forward could still be a part of the Cowboys' future.

Ford was optimistic that Johnson would be able to qualify academically and join Oklahoma State's freshman class next season. Johnson, who was attending Mount Zion Christian Academy in Durham, N.C., had been considered one of the top 50 recruits in the country by several ratings services when he signed with Oklahoma State in November.

As much as I would love to land Cook there's <.0001% chance we land him.

He knows about the DeMatha connection, but apparently doesn't think too much about it.

karron johnson is a major headcase. he has good talent and athleticism but given sid's past with problem players I don't think it'd be a good idea. Then again, he'd be a luxury recruit at this stage and if he doesn't work out he could always transfer
