At this point, it doesn't matter much what stupid things McCain says. That doesn't change the fact that Obama is a marxist hack who would raise taxes on the job-creating members of society.

He would put anti-capitalist nutjobs on the supreme court.

His weak-kneed Dukakis/Carter genes would leave our country open even more to terrorist attacks.

Obama is so wrong for the country, McCain would have to be caught in bed with a farm animal before he'd lose my vote.

I dunno, but I'm for keeping the liberal/conservative balance pretty even in the supreme court, if McCain gets it we'll see a far right shift which I don't think will be good for the country in the long term.

You know..socialism, labor theory of value, class struggle, dictatorship of the proletariat until a classless society is created, dogs living with cats....that kind of thing.

I wish someone would ask his opinions on marxism, socialism and capitalism. It would be fun watching the smoke come out of his ears as he struggles to deny his true essence.

I doubt that. Some of the most angriest people at the end of a McCain first term might be conservatives. I think he'd put center-right judges on the court.

Republican Whip Jon Kyl is on CSPAN spouting why it's the Demograt's fault ... "When I made proposals for better oversight in 2004, the democrats opposed it." ....

2004? You had a Republican president and Republican majorities in both houses. Who you want to blame? ....

It has nothing to do with me being no one important.

The fact that the government can spy on all of my phone calls without a warrant , suspend my constitutional rights on a moment's notice, imprison me offshore, and torture me endlessly scares me.

That doesn't bother you at all?

no cause i'm not an egomaniac like you and i'm not paranoid that i'm going to get kidnappened one night and taken to gitmo because i mentioned some weed on a phone call like you apparently are getting all noid about

plus i realized they could do all that shit already, just not legally, but when have laws ever stopped the govt before...you're pretty naive if you think people havent already been tortured and locked up outside the country, etc

Laws constantly stop the government. It's what keeps the government in check. If it wasn't for our legal system, we'd probably still have alberto gonzalez as AG.

But, I mean, the fact that they could do that. They could. If they wanted to. You don't think that's an erosion of the rights granted to you as a citizen? Don't you think that if you're okay with that, they can start restricting more, and more, and more.. until you go "Fuck, why didn't I speak up 10 years ago?"

the fact is they could do it all along if they wanted to

you're acting like the govt cant do something if its not legal

no offense but i think you're paraoid from weed...and dont act like you're not an egomaniac...your screenname is God...you obviously think you're the shit

They tap international phone calls. And probably calls made by very specific people (terrorists) they are tracking. They don't have the legal grounds, the desire, nor the manpower to tap some college kid's conversation with his buddy across the street.

I have a feeling you haven't looked into what exactly the related bill says, and you should because there is no reason for you to believe you would be personally affected by it, and that its this blatant violation of the consitution that you say it is.

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/PPP_Release_NC_92168.pdf

These guys numbers proved pretty accurate during the primaries in North Carolina.

This poll that was just conducted has Obama & McCain each at 46%

Also Kay Hagan is at 46% vs Dole's 41%

Economy & Jobs far and away was ranked as North Carolinians' top concern, with the war in Iraq as a distant 2nd place concern.

sometimes I dare to have hope! IIRC, polls only call landline phones. Considering NC's high college population, there's a sizable chunk of cell only voters. Maybe, just maybe, the youth turnout won't be abysmally low this year! I want to be optimistic but I can't quite. Every election they talk about how the youngns are excited, and every election the 18-25 turnout is like 5%.

CNN had NC as battleground, then switched us to "Leaning Republican" after the Palin poll bounce

but the bounce seems to be sagging and there's still time!!!

^yeah that abc map I saw on the 20th, and that polling data was released yesterday, so it all seems to be post-palin bounce drop.

nc is tied b/c nc residents care about the economy. obama launched his economics tour in Raleigh a while back and comes back often enough that i think there is a chance.

i'm becoming more and more disappointed with mccain

there is zero chance that i will vote obama, of course. it's a matter of voting McCain, Barr/writing in Ron Paul, or sitting at home.

i still have considerable faith that McCain hasn't really changed in terms of policy, and he's saying and doing whatever is expeditious in terms of getting elected President, but that itself is very discouraging and a mark of change for the worse.

one of the many changes from McCain 00 to McCain 08
