Heard on Frank and Buck earlier that Hardy has been the first rookie standout

They said he looked like a man amongst boys at times

Some things I've read from various places:

-Duke Robinson showed up too fat at 330 lbs and is on the PUP list until he gets his shit straight

-Matt Moore is head and shoulders above anybody else in the QB race (as expected). The team is fully behind him.

-Kenny Moore is stepping up with Smith out; Dwayne Jarrett is getting starter reps, but hasn't been as impressive

-Rookie 6th rounder DE Greg Hardy is apparantly a beast in the making. He nearly lapped the rest of his competition during a conditioning test. Fox calls him "non-stop"

-The Panthers are the third youngest team in the NFL with only five players 30 or older on the roster.

^also, Mike Woodson seems to be doing pretty well himself in place of Jonathan Stewart.

Goodson ... but yeah, heard that too. Speaking of which, pretty good AP article on Stewart:

Quote :
"Jonathan Stewart has put together a gaudy resume in his two years in the NFL. He set Carolina's rookie rushing record, led the Panthers in rushing last season and has played in all 33 regular-season and playoff games.

Yet this may be the most remarkable part of it all: He's hardly practiced in nearly three years.

"Stew's got it down to a science," tight end Jeff King said, smiling. "He's outsmarting us all."

"

Quote :
"UPDATE: Darin Gantt writes for the Herald Online that Everette Brown is routinely getting dominated by left tackle Jordan Gross during workouts. Gantt notes that this isn't a huge knock on Brown, as Gross is one of the best tackles in the league, but it also doesn't indicate that Brown has made much progress as a pass rusher (more on that below).

---

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli writes Friday that the Carolina Panthers have been unimpressed so far with Brown, last year's second round pick: "Carolina invested a second-round pick in Everette Brown in 2009, and many felt the former Florida State standout might become the team's best pass-rush threat with Julius Peppers having left as a free agent. But Brown hasn't cracked the starting lineup and might be used only as a situational rusher if he doesn't develop some counter moves. The coaches have more confidence right now in third-year pro Charles Johnson, a third-round pick in '07 who had six sacks in 2008-09 but dropped off to four sacks the following season when he was slowed by a shoulder injury."

This season could be a critical one in Brown's development, as the Panthers will need somebody to step up and fill the void left by Peppers as a pass-rushing defensive end. If he can't, the team might be forced to address the position yet again in the 2011 draft -- unless Johnson steps up as a big-time player."

Yep, Panthers love trading for a lower pick one year at the expense of a higher pick the next year

Getting Edwards at 89 this year when it will likely cost us a top 50 pick next year

Fox and Hurney have no concept of value

well, if edwards can step in right away and return punts and get catches this year, i'd say that getting a receiver like that one year early is worth the ~25 pick difference.

but that's a big if.

Yeah, I love that we have Edwards on our team, I just wish we would've waited a few rounds to pick him.

i have found $139 roundtrip flight from RDU to LGA on sunday sept 12th for the season opener at NYG.

now all TWW needs to do is donate for my game ticket.

goal is to raise $250 to sit in the upper corner. this is the cheapest available. surely 25 people on here will donate $10 to this just and pantheriffic cause.

if you donate, i will send you a picture of me in the stadium with a personalized greeting (ex. "Thank you, dweedle. Go panthers")

I'll help

First I'll break into Coach Fox's house. When inside, I'll rummage around until I find his laser tag equipment.

I'll take the equipment to a pawn shop and sell it. But instead of getting money for it, I'll have the pawn shop Western Union the money to you directly, just give me your bank account and routing numbers.

Its cool going to games but it means you have to miss all the other games on TV that weekend

Fun to do road trips a few times a year but not all the time IMO

Fan Fest = awful.

sit in the bajillion degree heat to watch the team from a distance. if you're going to do that, you should just go to spartanburg and actually get to interact with the players. it's way too hard in the stadium. unless they changed the setup of it.

i'm looking forward to the two preseason games

it will be nice to see the Jets, and then the Titans in the 3rd game, where the starters play into the 2nd half

but theres just something about 8pm Saturday night games

- not 100 degrees out
- plenty of time to tailgate
- dont have to get up early for work the next day

in hindsight, he shouldnt have made it out of preseason in his rookie year

Kenny Moore has supposedly been THE offensive bright spot for us this camp...which is good cause going into camp all we knew we had was Smith

haha, I see it, thats pretty funny. Its a little bit of a stretch, but its there, especially withthe arrows pointing it out

on second thought, when you dont add the "eyeballs" and color in the whiskers, its a lot harder to see
