Quote : | "Leon Panetta, director of the CIA, revealed there was a 25 minute blackout during which the live feed from cameras mounted on the helmets of the US special forces was cut off. A photograph released by the White House appeared to show the President and his aides in the situation room watching the action as it unfolded. In fact they had little knowledge of what was happening in the compound.
In an interview with PBS, Mr Panetta said: "Once those teams went into the compound I can tell you that there was a time period of almost 20 or 25 minutes where we really didn't know just exactly what was going on. And there were some very tense moments as we were waiting for information.
"We had some observation of the approach there, but we did not have direct flow of information as to the actual conduct of the operation itself as they were going through the compound."" |

Also, I know it's popular right now, at least in the media, to think of these guys as superhuman, but they're obviously not. No matter how good they are at what they do, I don't think you want "alright, this is being taped," in the back of their minds when they're making split second life and death decisions.

Neat, I didn't know about the drones. I think a lot of the footage being streamed to the US would have come from the helmet cams, but I have no idea on if that is even plausible.

ThePeter TWW CHAMPION 37709 Posts user info edit post |
Both I guess. The article I was reading spelled it out better, but its a tourist attraction for obvious reasons, and Muslim supporters of bin Laden are visiting it as a shrine to him. They say he was 'their lion' and all that. 5/5/2011 11:45:17 AM |

Quote : | "Pakistan officials said the compound in Abbottabad where bin Laden was shot dead Sunday already became a tourist attraction and that there were no plans to destroy the building.
"I can tell you for a fact that it will become a place of tourism," said Dr. Muhammad Azfar Nisar, the deputy civil chief of the city. "People are already coming here from as far away as Lahore to see the house, so why should we destroy the building? The more revenue, the better."
Nisar said the city might even expand to accommodate tourist demand. "I am sure some hotels will be constructed nearby the house if the military allow it," he added.
The site, No. 254, was temporarily put off-limits early Wednesday by police who secured it for a visit by military intelligence and Pakistan's secret service, but by mid-afternoon, the scene was reopened -- and crowds of civilians gathered outside.
"I've come here today to see a piece of our history," said Ahmed, 24, who brought his 11-month-old daughter with him. "Osama was a good Muslim who fought for Islam. He was a hero to us. I expect in time to see all sorts of tourists here, even Japanese and Americans."
However, others were not as impressed by the relatively-Westernized lifestyle of the al Qaeda leader.
"I had thought he would be living in a cave like a proper rebel outlaw," said 25-year-old Zulqurnain. "But instead they say he was hiding here, in a nice residential area. I'm a bit disappointed and can't believe it. Even so, I will come to visit again. Osama was our lion."" |

No, Navy SEAL Dogs Don’t Have Titanium Teeth
Quote : | "“It would not be possible for them to use titanium teeth to make them even more aggressive,” says Jeff Franklin, owner of Cobra Canine in Virginia Beach. “They’re not as stable as a regular tooth would be, and they’re much more likely to come out” during a biting.
The only reason to have titanium teeth? Medical reasons, he says, like “if a dog breaks a tooth… it’s the same as a crown for a human.”" |
Jeff Franklin is the truth

..... A government advisory sent Thursday says that as far back as February 2010, al-Qaida was contemplating "an operation against trains at an unspecified location in the United States on the 10th anniversary" of the 9/11 attacks.
One option, the advisory says, was trying to tip a train by tampering with the rails so that the train would fall off the track at either a valley or on a bridge. Such an attempt would probably only work once, the material in bin Laden's house said, because tilting or tampering with the rails would be spotted, the advisory says. ....." |

If they train the dogs as much as the SEALs train, it's likely that fangs will break. Nice to know that they replace the tooth with something stronger. 5/5/2011 7:45:35 PM |
