not trying to troll, and I don't feel like reading the last 6 pages. Why was this game so close considering Liberty had 7 turnovers?

I think Wolff got a cramp, then came back into the game later. He went down after the play was over and walked off the field with his leg straight out.

^^ short answer is that their QB was pretty damn good, our o-line couldn't figure out how to pickup their blitzes in the first half, and Moose is a much better rb than Underwood/Washington

When is Green coming back? I think our offense will look much better when we get him back.

Why was Bishop missing for a few possessions? It was around the same time that Wolff was out, and it scared the shit out of me thinking about both of them being injured. It was also during that time that whoever was back there never once looked back or even reacted to the Liberty receiver going up for the ball, which resulted in TD and completed 2 point conversion.

that was a fucking gift. the defense didn't force that fumble, they just got lucky. 1 of 2 teams was gonna recover that fumble. We just happened to be that 1.

Just answer me this... is Liberty's defense actually good (like, on an FBS level good - we know they're FCS good) or were we just that off of our game? Why was the O-Line so hideous and where was Glennon's supposed "better than Matt Ryan" prowess?

We'll see next week. All this game told me was that "we might suck" rather than "we might be good" like I thought before.

They were blitzing the corner on first down from the opposite side of where the back lined up and it caused some confusion early. We didn't make an adjustment quick enough and it lead to a Glennon fumble return. They were stunting a lot on 3rd down passing situations too that first half and that caused some havoc. We got it together and played both better in the second half.

Calm the fuck down. This was the guy's first start in a college game. You could see flashes when he set his feet and delivered. He'll be much better in game 5 than the first half of game 1 and so on.

You guys just have more patience than I do.

He's been throwing to these receivers for weeks. He missed an easy touchdown in the first quarter when he didn't run through his progression properly. A receiver (Pretty sure it was No. 4, Tobais Palmer - but it might have been TJ) was standing in the south end zone, open, with absolutely no coverage and Glennon threw an incomplete like 6 yards for a first down attempt instead.

If you miss throwing to an open receiver you'd better at least throw to someone who catches. You can have the world's best arm but if you make bad decisions you won't be a good QB, and that was a very bad decision. A starting QB at this level should really be able to make his progressions before throwing the ball.

here's a word of advice, never go into any season with any kind of expectations for nc state. you'll just set yourself up for disappointment.

it was his first starting game and he was under a lot of pressure from fans, media, etc...

practice, scrimmages, etc...don't make a hill of beans

being under the lights on gameday is totally different. put yourself in his shoes and you know he had to be a little nervous

i saw a lot of good things from glennon. he will improve as the season progresses and he gets less nervous.

The fact that TOB didn't let RW finish his career here has set my expectations so low I just don't give a fuck this year. First time ever really, its sickening.

And we sucked last night. Period. O-line is fucking terrible, but I don't know that we're worse than last year. Left side of the line looked especially bad.

If i didn't give a fuck, i doubt that i'd watch the team's games, and i certainly wouldn't bitch and complain about the team.

(not directly addressing the original quoter, but it seems that those who "don't give a fuck" are often the loudest whiners.)

Everyone pretty much summed up the numerous ways we suckled balls.

For a man who put his own ego ahead of the team this summer, that was a pretty piss poor showing by TOB's team. The only bright spot was the secondary, and I'm hesitant to even say that because it was fucking Liberty. The opponents get faster, bigger, and smarter from here on out.

The real disappointment is offensive line, who didn't even have to face Liberty's best lineman. OL was supposed to be TOB's specialty, and they have been the worst part of our team forever. Other than kicking good players off the team, what is TOB good at??

In 5 years, his record is .500. I bet it will go down this year because I don't see 6 wins on this schedule. ncsuftw trashed my firing thread, but we really have to take an objective look at TOB's job performance. We can't let sentimentality get in the way of doing what's best for NCSU athletics. This is probably TOB's final job before retirement, and he really has no incentive to bust his balls to do better.

We went 9-4 last year, and we're one game into this year's schedule. Are you sure you're looking at it objectively? Or are you just butt-hurt about TOB and RW's decisions?

I'm going to miss all the Glennon / O'Brien haters in a couple weeks when they are completely silenced.

(but we know you'll be back though whenever there is the slightest fuckup of Glennon claiming we would have contended for a national championship with Wilson instead of a horrendous 8-4 record this year.)

How can you possibly not see 6 wins with this schedule? We have the easiest schedule in history. (Not literally.)

We barely beat Liberty. The worst FBS team should beat the best FCS team 95% of the time. It's one thing if an FCS team plays out of its mind, but Liberty was very bad as well.

This is like basketball last year where we barely beat minor conference teams, and we looked bad doing it. Those bad wins translated into a really bad regular season. You had people at that time saying it was just one game and not to worry about it.

As for 6 wins, where are they coming from:

Liberty - W
Wake - W?
South Alabama - W
Cincinnati - L
Georgia Tech - L
Central Michigan - W
UVA - L
FSU - L
UNC - L (sad to say, Renner looks legit. I'd be happy if this were the 6th win, though)
BC - W?
Clemson - L
Maryland - L

I don't think the worst FBS team should beat the best FCS team 95% of the time. It's plainly obvious that the worst FBS schools really aren't much better than middle-to-top tier FCS programs. Just look at Duke.

lol, not at all.

Quote :
"In the first two weeks of the season alone, five FCS teams have defeated FBS opponents: Jacksonville (Ala.) State stunned Ole Miss 49-48 in two overtimes, North Dakota State beat Kansas 6-3, South Dakota defeated Minnesota 41-38, Gardner-Webb beat Akron 38-37 in overtime and Liberty shocked Ball State 27-23."

That was last year, after JMU beat VT. VT, Ole Miss, Minn, KU....not quite the worst FBS teams.

Here's the real record since I know some of you are wetting your pants to prove me wrong:

https://sportsdelve.wordpress.com/2011/08/12/a-complete-record-of-fbs-i-a-vs-fcs-i-aa/

The major conferences are 91% vs FCS teams.

My point remains the same.

^Apparently when considering the "worst FBS teams" you only count the teams that aren't qualified as bad. Like the MAC's 67% win % against FCS schools.

Major conferences are not "the worst FBS teams", generally.

And this is surprising...

skokian. the new face of wolfpack dumbassery.

even IF your shit comes true... a 6 win season is as good or better than wilson did.
he's already thrown a TD pass with 0 INTs in game 1.

It took wilson 6 quarters of football before he threw his first TD.
He had thrown an INT at that point too already.
