I wasn't saying it was right, I was trying to explain where the frustration comes from and why they might have cheered when, finally, in a highly publicized case, one of "their own" gets off on charges of murder.

To put it in an analogy you may understand, why do you cheer when UNC gets screwed over and loses a game because of a bad call by an official?

By Zimmerman's own admission, he describes Trayvon as a teenager in the 911 call. And I'm sure he knew he had a sizeable advantage on him. So, yes, Zimmerman knew those details.

Yeah we kind of do. He followed a person who was doing nothing wrong and the person started to run away. He continued following, and at some point exited his vehicle to pursue this person. He was obviously the aggressor.

Unless, of course, Martin decided to stop running, turn around, open Zimmerman's door, and pull him out of the car.

To me it doesn't matter that Trayvon was black and it doesn't matter that Zimmerman is latino (or hispanic I guess is technically correct). What I find scary is that people are ready to convict this guy while only knowing what the media have fed to them. Yep, seems a lot like the stand your ground law in florida is bad law if it is so ambiguous that it leads to a situation like this. The law needs to be revised. Even the law's main sponsors agree that this is not the interpretation that they intended.
And obviously the broad paintbrush used to write the current wording is the only thing keeping Zimmerman's ass out of jail now.

The violence begets violence is so true, not sure if that was said in jest. Listening to the interviews of the parents of Trayvon, they make it abundantly clear that they want justice for the shooting, meaning an arrest and trial, not for Zimmerman to have the same fate as their son.
