Well Jaybee...you should do your research because State has 7 ACC titles, so it's completely ignorant to say that the Gator Bowl year was NC State's peak as a program. I would expect somebody as objective as yourself to know a little bit of history, since you know, you brought it up and all with your 1953 national championship before the color barrier was broken.

And, being totally objective here...you may look back on the Music City Bowl as your glory days, considering the way things are going. We've already established that Tennessee can't even develop the talent they have, and they play in the big and bad SEC.

Can I say it? Let's be fair. With FSU, Clemson, VT and Miami being in our conference if we were the forth best team in the conference consistently I'd be thrilled. There are certain realities to sports...NCSU being a top tier program in football isn't one. We may even have a great year on rare occasions but if we were consistently fourth we should be ecstatic.

I would be happy with getting 8 wins consistently. If we throw in a 9 or 10 win season occasionally and have some 7 win seasons thats fine as well. I generally assume loses to clemson and FSU every single year. We had our window of opportunity to win the ACC and instead let teams like Wake Forest and Maryland win it instead. Now we just need to get back to winning games we have a good shot in and stop losing to teams like Wake and Duke.

Full disclosure: I haven't watched a single one of our games since a few minutes of the Syracuse game. Completely checked out after that. With that said, what a shameful state for our football program to be in. We haven't been this pathetic since Amato's last year, and I think we actually won a couple ACC games that year. All that's left is for us to lose to ECU. I dunno if it's talent or coaching, but there is no excuse for getting routinely embarrassed week in and week out like this. Obviously we can't fire the guy after one year, but the dude get's no more benefit of the doubt if another season starts off on the wrong foot. I'd say his leash is down from the usual 5 years to a maximum of 3.

It just goes to show how important the QB position is. I'm going to give the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt and say that a lot of their bad decision making has been influenced by the fact that they don't think either QB can complete a simple slant. I thought Thomas was serviceable earlier in the year, but it appears he's gotten worse. Mitchell makes Marcus Stone look like an adequate passer.

Let's hope the next Rivers/Glennon/Wilson is on the bench or will be hitting campus soon. Shit...I think we'd have beaten UNC/Duke/Wake(maybe even Clemson) with a Barnette/Montgomery/Harvey/Bender.

We were still in the Duke game until we threw back-to-back pick 6s. That wasn't Doeren's fault, he wasn't out there under center.

Sure, there have been some questionable decisions, like the TO before a kickoff. But I don't really feel like he's made a coaching decision that has directly cost us a game. I even agree with the decisions to go for it on 4th-&___ in our own territory, or calling the same play 3 times in a row. To me, that's Doeren holding the players accountable. He's forcing them to execute in tough situations on the field. Does it always end in success? No. But he's forcing a young team to deal with their shortcomings, and giving them the benefit of that experience.

To me, Doeren has seemed like a coach coaching 1 year out this whole season. He's looking to next year, and using these games as teaching opportunities to develop his talent for the long term.

Still credible, for now.

They're only terrible decisions if they cost you the game, which none of them did. Our inability to generate anything on offense cost us those games. Punting the ball away doesn't generate offense, but going for it on 4th down can.

Calling the same play 3 times in a row got us a TD. Not a terrible decision either.
