How long are they going to be able to keep up this farce? They had nearly 8 years to produce a replacement yet we're supposed to believe one will emerge in 2 weeks? The ACA was written, debated, and negotiated over the course of a year. Every detail was publically available months before Congress voted on it. The GOP so far has nothing that could even pass a committee, let alone the Senate or House.

What is your definition of replacement? Is it an expensive, constricting federal regulatory scheme that forces Americans to participate through a series of mandates? Because if so, then you will never see a plan (hopefully).

But if you are looking for a proposal provide healthcare without squeezing the middle class, there are many proposals. But you know, congress has been in session for a couple of weeks and the president hasn't even taken office yet. So they should already have a bill drafted to congress.

Because it would have been impossible to work on some sort of draft until this current session?

Trump has said that he would like to keep some of the more popular parts of ACA, so I would assume this would be included.

Come on man. The passing of ACA gave us one of the best quotes ever. How could you forget this gem?

^Yes, that's exactly my point. I'm not at all reassured by Trump's claims of covering pre-existing conditions. I want to know HOW.

the GOP plan linked doesn't explain it, they have coverage for pre-existing conditions and also open enrollment so i guess just wait till you're sick

So if pre-existing conditions are covered without a mandate, what will stop people from simply opting out of coverage until they get sick?

And if the proposal is that those with pre-existing conditions simply lose their eligibility if they do not maintain continuous coverage (a de facto mandate, not a de jure mandate), what about those that lose their coverage simply due to unemployment (or other factors)?

I mean, you may have a pre-existing condition with the intention of maintaining continuous coverage, then you lose your job and hence your insurance. Are you shit out of luck for the rest of your life?

I don't claim to know a whole lot about the healthcare system or obamacare, but I don't see how they can keep coverage for pre existing conditions and get everyones rates back down. The excuse from all the insurance companies, at least for the massive jumps in premiums, has been that the cost of covering all the people with pre existing conditions they were forced to insure was way more than even they expected. Whether thats true or not I dont really know. I know my rates went up by something stupid like 75% last year. Luckily this year they fell more in line with an expected increase.

I don't care about that. It's more the fact that the only leaders who have ever really felt the need to do that have similar personalities. Not that I think Trump has that same trait but the fact he believes that is a way to project power and greatness is pretty pathetic.

I'm sure some will eat it up though.

Has there ever been a time in the history of America where we have had a military type march similar to what is described above? I dont recall ever seeing one in my lifetime, but did this ever occur during WW1 or 2?

Let's see...this, along with his tweets about revoking citizenship for flag burning.....

Hey, is Vegas taking bets on how long it takes before he orders troops to shoot protesters?

I always wondered what it would be like to be disappeared and gunned down in the back of a football stadium...or assigned hard labor at a reeducation camp.

I'm sure everything will be just fine, though.

^^ if calling him out for wanting to do things that he has seen in WWII and Cokd War Soviet Union documentaries and movies makes him stronger than that reflects more poorly on the idiots conned by him then on me.

For what it's worth I don't think he is actually an authoritarian because I don't believe he actually is smart enough to have real opinions. He sees stuff on shows and documentaries and is attracted to it. The fact that people think he wants to help them and that this isn't all one big ego stroke kind of makes me laugh and want to cry at the same time.

Does the VP still believe in shock conversion therapy? Just wondering.

Though I guess Trump deserves some credit for running down the clock and officially becoming the least transparent candidate in recent American political history. So, good for him I guess.

It wouldn't be the first time leftists payed for protests.

I can't wait to see how the media spins leftist violence as "Trump supporters causing violence" again. Maybe some more hoaxes? Paid "bird-doggers" again? Maybe another burnt black church with "TRUMP" painted on it? Should be entertaining...

They're already setting the legal framework for vigilante violence to be meted out by supporters. This is the "stand your ground" equivalent for the 1st Amendment.

Quote :
"In North Dakota, the author of the bill that would permit the killing of protestors has linked his legislation directly to anti-pipeline activists’ successful protests that involved obstructing roadways. Although the bill ostensibly requires drivers to have acted “negligently” or accidentally in killing a protestor, the bill’s co-sponsor, Republican state Rep. Keith Kempenich, has said that some accidents might occur if motorists “punched the accelerator rather than the brakes,” according to the Bismarck Tribune."

The day is here.

I hope the weight of the position changes him and he becomes more transparent, less authoritarian, unwinds his potential conflicts of interests and really does try to help people and not just himself.

But I have little belief he will do any of that.
