How is he made for the modern NBA exactly? He's not a good enough outside shooter to be a stretch big. He isn't big enough to be a "true" big. I haven't seen him in a single mock draft. Seems like another Josh Powell situation to me.

Good free throw shooters tend to become better shooters from the floor in the NBA than they were in college. Guys with good shooting fundamentals get better when they don't have the strict practice limitations of the NCAA.

He's not a traditional center in the NBA, he's a 4. But he's a 4 who can switch 1-5 on defense and not get embarrassed. I don't think anyone is saying he's going to be an all-star or even a regular starter, but he definitely has a good chance to carve out a rotation role. Athletic 6'10 guys who can handle the ball some and defense multiple positions while still being able to work in the post aren't exactly a dime a dozen. That's how he made for today's NBA game: he's 6'10 and can guard anyone on switches.

barring some huge run over the next 2 months, I am saying he won't get drafted. There are 60 spots to get picked in the NBA draft. Teams would rather take a chance on some European player than take some above average player from a middle of the road ACC team.

A transfer and a backup to DSJ are our most talented players this year. Not sure why people thought we would do much better with transfers and BB still the backup.

Looking at our guys out of HS, by their highest rating by one of the big 3 publications, not counting Allen(4*) or Seabron(4*), we have 5 4* kids, 2 3*, and then 2 NR(Bryce and Andree).

So our team, clearly, has a ton of talent with all those stars.

I’m not predicting that we’re gonna make the tourney at this point. And given our recent play, there’s not much to suggest we get our shit together. But with 9 games left there’s plenty of time to turn things around. Our resume to date isn’t so bad that we can’t overcome it. But it’s becoming increasingly unlikely.

We are 5-6 in the ACC and have 2 vs duke, 1 vs FSU and @ Syracuse left on the schedule. That's four Ls right there and we will likely lose at least one of the others. A sub 500 team in this ACC ain't getting in. We are 69 in the net rankings (although those apparently don't matter) and 70- in the RPI.

Tourney hopes were probably over when we lost to GT for the second time, but definitely were done after we lost to the worst UNC team in a decade and a half.

On the plus side our SOS isn't last in the country this year and we have 2 low Q1 wins.

^Even outside this last three game stretch, I think there is enough evidence that we aren't gonna beat superior teams. We don't out-effort anyone. And there is a lot of evidence that we lose head scratchers. We are who we are.

If we win out we have a good shot. If we win all but one (Duke or fsu), we'll likely be strong bubble. Would have to likely win first game of acc tourney too. After that things get super dicey.

What? If we win out, we might be ranked and likely a 5-6 seed. That's three wins against top 10 teams and another Q1 win. If we win out and only drop 1-2 against the top dogs (but get 1 of the duke games or FSU), we are still almost definitely in without anything happening in the ACC tourney. If we win out, but lose both duke games and FSU, we are likely on the outside of the bubble.

None of those scenarios are happening, mind you. But we aren't fighting an uphill battle against a dismal OOC record this season.

Actually I didn't realize UNCG and VT had jumped to Q1 and GT is only borderline q3, so I'll rescind most of my post. I still think we need to win at least one of duke/fsu. Last year we were knocked for having no top half Q1 wins.

I still think we need to win out our non Q1 games, or replace any loss with an additional duke/fsu win.

I don’t disagree with this, we don’t *look* like a tourney level team. I was just responding to the idea that our tourney hopes are over given our current resume. It’s an uphill climb and given our recent play it seems super unlikely that we actually do the things we need to do to make the tourney. But the chances are there for us still make a run at it. It’s just an increasingly uphill battle.
