SHTF rifle?

Sig 556R. That's a fun rifle for sure.

For all practical purposes, considering how much ammo I currently have, my SHTF would probably be my Henry 22 Golden Boy, lol.

Im pretty sure that would fuck up a zombie or whatever, and its scary accurate/holds a lot of shots.

Also, tons of 12 gauge.

Save the good stuff for when it gets really bad or zombies figure out how to wear body armor.

Lol I have over 500 rnds of every round I own a gun that fires.... Cept 30:30 and that's cause the gun that fires it is 120 years old and I don't want to run any significant amount. Of ammo through it. So between that and my reloading supplies I'm ready for shtf even though I don't really believe in it.

I've got roughly 2k of every caliber I shoot, except 12 gauge which I have about 500.

On another note, I just purchased a Double Diamond Law Enforcement Supply (DDLES) 9mm AR-15. It accepts glock mags, so I can now use my 30rnd happy sticks for a specific purpose.
It should arrive next week.

Lastly, someone by my G27 in the classifieds.

I'm going to SBR it, and my can fits it.
Also taking glock mags makes it more of a modular system for me.

Will look something like this:

So, no real purpose.

I've kind of wanted a pointless range toy like that as well, but I'd rather just get a KRISS Vector instead.

I will run mine in carbine classes, so it will be slightly more than a range toy, just slightly.

Negative ghost rider the pattern is full.

That brake with blow shit all up in your face....

You can get a custom gun built on a surgeon action for less than that...

But that's just my $.02 I'm not big on tacticool stuff tho either.

there are only a few places in the state where civilians can stretch the legs on a rifle like that and then you've gotta think about how to feed it

I've got a decent amount of land to shoot on, and the longest shot I could make from a prone position isn't much over 500 yards. As much as I wanted to get my 700AAC in 300Win Mag, I opted for 308 for that same reason.

I mean I can't really talk though. I do have a tendency for overkill.

.338 costs $3.75+ per round and still over a dollar if you re-load your own (excluding shell price)

Only heard good things but never handled one personally. I do love every HK I have shot but they are pricey and I like my pistols without external safeties. If I were to get one it wouldn't be the L model unless I was getting it for competition or the like.

I think there are 'S' models that have external safeties, which can be combined with the "L" long slide version.

Normal P30 looks nice

The only thing I can say against H&K is that for the price of one of their guns, you can get two guns from other brands that are just as good.

While I can't bring myself to drop the coin on an HK I would do that far before spending $2k on a 1911...

I've noticed the H&K are expensive, about $200-300 more than other guns I'm shopping.

I am also looking at a Glock 19, which is about $300 less, but I am not sure I want a striker fired pistol as my first purchase.

A G19 was my first pistol and it is still my favorite. Yeah it shoots like a Glock but the thing has been flawless and I consider it to be the perfect pistol. Great size, capacity, price, reliability.

I feel like sig & h&k guns are just for bling factor and don't really function any better than the smith/ruger/Springfield/glock offerings in similar calibers.

Don't get me wrong they are awesome guns... Like a BMW vs a ford.

Depends on which sig. The mid to higher Sigs match the lower H&K.

anyone here had any experience with the FN P45? I'm in the market for a fullsize 45 that has a factory option for a threaded barrel. Not sure I want to spend HK money on one, and buying a Glock along with an extra barrel puts me close to the price of those other guns.

If you are OK with the expense, then it's a brilliant choice. I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for." I shot many manufacturers' models and calibers before I decided upon my 9mm USP (and later P2000SK). The ergonomics are just so good, it makes almost every other handgun I pick up nowadays seem "off." I will say, though, that you should not expect to find many HK's and accessories at local gun shows.

I am admittedly a huge raving HK fanboy...

The HK P30 has a horrible trigger, but that's a personal opinion.

Otherwise, it's quite a nice pistol (I would have purchased one if not for the horrible DA/SA trigger - the DAO triggers are no good as well). Fits in your hand like a glove, depending the on the model - the rear thumb decocker is my preference (instead being located on the side), light, accurate. Other than the price and the trigger, what is there not to like?

There are varying opinions on the FN guns. Factory service and support has been spotty. My FNX 9 and 45 were awesome (while I had them). There are some things to look out for (safety breaking), ambi issues, etc... No problems with accuracy or the trigger though.

It was a solid performer and I would get another one if the opportunity arose.

Sig P220 or 226
Beretta 92

Yeah I'm gonna have to agree with that. A CPO or used 226 is pretty great. I was able to find one for $400. Low mileage.

My first handgun was a SIG P226. It was a cop trade-in, and I got it at Lawmen's for $275, I think! Significant holster wear, but it shot like a mad dog. I sold it for $350 a few years later.

I'm a SIG fan to this day, although I don't currently have one. I would totally recommend a used 226 as a first handgun.

So I built this AR but I wasn't really thinking about sights when I was building it. I went to the gun show a few weekends ago and got a set of UTG sights for $cheap. I was going to get a set of MBUIS but they were more expensive at the gun show than online and no one had any left by the time I was willing to pay for them. I was originally planning on taking the gun to the range the next day so I needed some sights.

I didn't end up getting to go to the range the day after the gun show, it wasn't until at the end of the next week and when I tried to zero them, I couldn't get them zero'd. At 25 yards, the POI was about 12-16" lower than I was aiming. So I lowered the front post as far as it would go (~16 clicks) and the POI was basically the same.

I thought maybe I don't know how to shoot or something, so I shot my buddy's AR that was already setup, I could get good groupings with his gun. He has a standard A2 gas block so it wasn't like I could just put his front sight on my gun. So then I had him and 2 other people shoot my gun, they all experienced the same thing I did, 12-16" low.

The rear sight doesn't have adjustment for elevation so I can't alter that. So what do I do? Scrap the sights and get something else? Get a riser for the rear sight?
