Seriously. It seems only a matter of time until he's one of our coaches. Shit, I'd make him head recruiter right now.

If I ever have a son, his first and middle name will be Julius Hodge.

Despite Tyler Harris saying that he grew up rooting for UNC, I think we have a great shot at landing him. It was pretty classy of him and his father to address that the real reason they had came down here was b/c we had offered him a scholarship and the UNC and Duke visits occurred b/c they were also recruiting him. That also means that they must read our message boards so we are likely a school that is in serious consideration. I think the fact that Tyler Harris' dad and Larry Harris have known each other for around 30 years is pretty big for us.

yeah Julius Hodge deserves to be given States's head recruiter job NOW! He helped work on getting CJ Leslie and Ryan Harrow big time in getting them here!

yeah Brass that was a pretty rare response by Harris and his dad. It makes me wonder what message boards these kids are actually looking at. It makes me cringe to think about them reading on here or PP. I guess there are people posting retarted shit on every board though.

Come on. I think most people tend to seriously overestimate the impact message boards' impact on recruits. 95% of them probably use the internet exclusively for facebook, twitter and porn.

I seriously doubt TWW is visited by recruits, however, recruits do look at Packpride.

What is so unusual about that? I know I felt the same way when I was 18, and if given a social outlet like twitter at the time, probably would have expressed my desire to go to the next step in life as soon as possible also.

You idiots need to step the fuck out of this kids life, at least until he takes a class here.

hey let's argue about what a 17 or 18 year old kid means by the word "here" and read way more into it than he could have possibly meant. that sounds like fun!!!

was at the pro am game last night.. CJ Leslie is going to be a beast for us next year... can't wait to see how he plays with harrow and lo brown too. Should be interesting.

Harrison Barnes looked really good too. he was hitting shots from all over. Not looking forward to seeing him play for the holes next year

Nice, I suppose we could always use another talented wing player and we have plenty of room scholarship wise. Thanks for the info.

he'd be a great fit now that davis and thomas are gone and would give us much needed depth in team practices while he sits out a year. i know it doesn't mean much now, but i believe he was the #2 player in nc coming out of high school his senior year. 6'5 and super athletic, he'd be great for cj to go head to head with in practice.

since hes a junior according to his espn profile, we would only get one season out of him right? or is he a rising junior?

Pretty sure we'd only get him for one year. Saw he was Scout's 11th ranked SF in the 2007 class (Michael Beasley's class). Here's a bit more:

His ESPN profile shows stats for 07/08, 08/09, and 09/10. He was a member of the 2007 recruiting class, so he played as a true freshman.
He will be a true senior this season with the opportunity to redshirt. Assuming he has not yet graduated and is not taking advantage of the graduation/graduate school loophole, he will have to sit out this season and will have one season of eligibility remaining for the 2011/12 season.

His stats from last season remind me a lot of Courtney Fells. He has a couple of tremendous games and other games he appears to be all but non-existent.

i had a long conversation today with some tourist down in EI...basically she was shitting all over Sid, and I was about to strangle her. Sure, you can make a case he has underachieved, but good lord can he identify talent.

it may turn out sid can't get it done, but damn if i don't believe he's going to get us where we want to be. I think this year will be the start of a sweet run of solid NC State teams.

alcohol = optimism.

Sutton looks good to me. A four-star recruit out of high school with 3 years experience AND has been to the NCAA tourney. We could def use him next year when we lose CJL to the draft.

His stats don't bother me. It's tough to get double-doubles night in, night out. He seems like a solid contributor.

theres a link in the article Saps posted that talks about how the top 5-6 ranked players in the country are separating themselves from the rest of the pack, there was this little blip at the end of the article

Quote :
"While there was plenty of movement in and out of the 150, the three newcomers making the biggest splashes are, Bernard Sullivan, Joseph Uchebo, Otto Porter and Terry Whisnant who all make their debuts in the rankings as four-star prospects."

and I really dont see any downside to picking up Sutton. He will be hungry when he gets here to prove himself and try to jockey for possible position in the NBA draft, he will be a huge contributor in practice, will have a year to learn the system and meld with our young guys - all while taking up a scholly for just one season. We need to get him before Wake Forest makes a play for him

Normally I like Rivals, but this poorly researched article about coaches on the hot seat irked me:
Quote :
"1. Sidney Lowe, N.C. State
Buzz: N.C. State made five consecutive NCAA appearances under Herb Sendek from 2002-06, but forced him out anyway. Lowe's tenure has proved that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Lowe's N.C. State teams haven't made one NCAA appearance in the ensuing four seasons, nor have they reached the 20-win plateau. That is expected to change this season. The Wolfpack have a touted recruiting class set to join an OK group of returnees. That puts a lot of pressure on Lowe, who was a starting guard on the Wolfpack's national championship game in 1983. It seems safe to say that if NCSU's NCAA-less streak reaches five, Lowe will be forced out, too. "

God, i wish people (read: the media) would quit it with the Herb bullshit! He's been gone for 4+ years. We've moved on and so should they!!!

Now that Sid has his recruits he's ready to prove to the world that he's a good coach! If he doesn't succeed in the next few seasons, then we can put him on the hot seat, but until then, LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!

shit yeah he does!

his lack of recruiting, when there's not an AAU or high school coach in the mix, is really showing this season. 7-man class made up of one 4-star and a bunch of no name 2 and 3-stars

sure he's had 68 wins over the last 3 seasons, but doesn't have a damn thing to show for it -- aside from one lousy NCAA win over an overrated Temple team a few seasons ago
