I got the MI SS Gen2 for a build I'm doing for my dad, its lightweight and feels nice but really still love my NSR rails

Would also like to try one of the new Centurion CMR rails, but disappointed they aren't Keymod

What is your price range? Do you want the ability to connect rail sections in the future? Or top rail section at the front for BUIS?

not paying big money for a logo. i don't mind paying more if i'm actually getting more.

[Edited on September 11, 2013 at 12:52 PM. Reason : a top rail for buis would be fine, but not necessary ]

I feel like by the time I get a 300 blk upper I might as well get a second whole gun.

Well like Barnes charges 850 or something for the lower but then 1200 for the whole gun.

I wouldn't want to swap uppers from 556 to 300BLK on the same lower, as I might get confused and throw a mag loaded with 556 into the 300 configuration by mistake.

having separate lowers won't prevent that. you could still shove the wrong mag in the gun and blow it up if you were a retard.

it won't prevent it, but it lowers the odds of it happening.

[Edited on September 11, 2013 at 2:43 PM. Reason : it won't blow it up, but it will ruin a suppressor.]

5.56 won't chamber in a 300 blk chamber. bolt won't close. won't go bang.

going the other way (300 blk in a 5.56 chamber) can chamber fully and will blow up if fired. the 30 cal bullet gets setback in the case and you get a KFB.

Check out my sheet on the last page. Those are some of the lightest rails on the market, with the MI SS Gen 2 being the most recommended. The Evo rails will fit a suppressor if desired, and that is why I went with it on my 9mm build.

they have lowers going for under $100... blems going for $60-70

if you've got a cheap FFL fee around you, its worth getting.

or goto perrys and get them for ~$90-100 picked up.

PSA has a blem lower and a LPK as a package for $100. blem full auto profile BCGs for $100 as well.

yeah. cant beat their deals.

only thing i noticed with blems (i had CMMG blems) was the mag well wouldnt work with certain mags. i forgot if it was polymer mags or metal mags that didnt work. but everything else was fine.
either way. its a good alternative.

I've had great success with PSA blem lowers. On most of them, I can't even find what makes them a 'blem'.

I recently bought one of their Carpenter 158 blem BCGs for $99 and it looks perfect, cant find a blemish anywhere on it.

The only "blem" I've ever bought that obviously had a cosmetic problem on it was a Chainsaw Noveske Gen2 lower. It had a flek of white right by the logo. Don't care too much though, because its going to be cerakoted.

god damn it someone tell me that wood stocks need dings in order to have "character."

never fails i buy a god damn gun and somehow ding it while cleaning even though i put it on a god damn pedestal and love it and tell it sweet things.

also, to hell with ejection port dings! brass you stay away from my wood (and scope)!

one of my very favorite shotguns is an aincent Ithaca 37 with no finish what so ever. its all bright patina. the wood is smooth, the checkering is still there but no bite. Lots of character, but not abuse. its a '41 model and dead reliable. I did change out the mag spring. Use yo guns, its what they are for.

Would anyone here be interested in serving as my backup fundamentals instructor for concealed handgun classes?

Responsibilities would be to be available for five to five and a half hours, one Saturday afternoon a month (will not interfere with NCSU sporting events and you would be consulted before schedules are finalized). You would be teaching the half of class that includes parts of a handgun, how they operate, shooting technique, cleaning and maintenance, as well as assisting with the written and shooting tests.

Ideally, I'm looking for someone with prior military or police training although I will consider other marketable experience. There are a couple certifications which would need to be obtained which I will pay for.

It's very good pay for the time commitment involved. I'm not out to make money off of someone else's labor and I pretty much do a 50/50 split of all profits, which will be discussed privately.

Classes are held in Apex and there's a very good possibility that this could turn into a permanent situation as the guy I contracted for the primary position has been very flaky (hence, needing a backup). If it did become permanent, I would also be willing to bring someone on as a business partner.

PM me if interested.

You might remember me, my wife and I took your class a few years ago.

That being said, 'prior military' covers a wide variety of jobs, so be wary of someone's resume until you see them demonstrate proper range safety and understanding of the fundamentals.

I'm so sick of the lack of competent firearms training and/or instructors at my agency.

This week I removed the large back strap from my Glock (oh no, I'm not an armorer) and realized that I didn't have the small trigger housing pin in my box. So, I go to our district firearms instructor and ask him for one and he tells me that the pin isn't necessary and shows me that his sidearm doesn't have one in.

quality instruction you have there.

He doesn't need it, so he should have no problem giving his pin to you.....

Like he would know where it is.

This guy tried to sell his last service weapon (they were decommissioned right before I came on board) and when I took a look, it was corroded and almost rusted shut.

He also told an Academy that Glocks had a smooth barrel and that at bullets tumble out of a gun.

We have another instructor who told me that I had aim at the base of q-target to hit center mass at 25 yards because the slug will rise 12 inches.

Thinking of getting a 10/22 takedown as a plinker. Any reason not to? Was thinking takedown over the regular because why the hell not? I have a bunch of gift cards to cabelas so it will be free to me, only current reason I wouldn't get one is if there is a nice used one when I go to the store or if someone convinces me otherwise.

unless you actually want to fit it in a small place, i wouldn't get the takedown model. i'd rather have the regular model with a quality aftermarket stock.

Local guy takes the Tactical Shotgun class down at Range 37 PSR. With ammo prices these days, this looks pretty fun. Anyone ever taken a class there?

In NC you can only use deadly force to prevent the threat of death or great bodily injury. Are you remotely firing a weapon to prevent death or great bodily injury?

Saw this posted to Facebook:

http://freepatriot.org/2013/09/15/video-2nd-amendment-open-carry-girls-harassed-walmart-missouri-police-show-papers/

The people in the video are kind of douchey (as are, unfortunately, most of the people who end up in videos like this), but they still don't irritate me half as much as the cop who is hassling them for no reason at all, and defaulting to kind of being a cock with no provocation.

Gander Mountain in Cary had Mosin Nagants for $179. Eiteher they've gone up in price or mosin nagant retails have become expensive.

Gm better have a little better qc then most Mosin dealers but add to that the new bill trying to restrict cheap surplus guns you get $175 instead of the $ 85 I spent on mine.
