I bet Boston College has more talent than us too. Pretty much all of our losses the past 4.5 years can be pinpointed to lack of talent and experience, but NOT the coach.
edit: Oh and injuries and players not making shots. We're just a bad luck school!!!

We have more overall "talent" than BC, but they're much much more experienced.
Jax is prolly as talented as anyone on our team though. Good athleticism, 6'3, decent assist:turnover ratio, eFG% of 63% and shoots 49% from three 1/14/2011 12:37:25 PM |

Absolutely, and he torched us. He scored 29 points, the second most he's scored all season. We've allowed guards to put up career numbers on us since Lowe started as coach.1/14/2011 12:42:54 PM |

Ok so I will elevate Brown to 5 * in my comparison:
FSU- 3 5* NCSU- 3 5*
FSU- 5 5* (I missed Gibson before) NCSU- 3 4*
Yet somehow we are clearly the more talented team? I really don't understand the argument of us being the 3rd most talented team in the league. FSU is clearly as talented and much of that talent has significant ACC experience.1/14/2011 12:58:26 PM |

I know it got derailed but I have had enough of the Lowe critics claiming we are one of the most talented teams in the nation. The facts don't back it up... We are less talented/ experienced than FSU but somehow we were a tourney "lock" unless Lowe fucked up . 1/14/2011 1:04:47 PM |

Ian Miller is terrible, btw.
A PG that shoots 30% from the field, 8.7% assist rate, and 29.6% turnover rate. he's only a freshman, and only seeing like 12 minutes a game, but he's terrible.
^The talent gap between us and the UNC/Dukes of the world is MUCH smaller than it has been at any time in the Lowe era. We're probably the 3rd most talented team in the ACC, but we're definitely also the least experienced.
As far as our talent vs. FSU goes, we're more talented. They have more height but we're more talented.] 1/14/2011 1:05:06 PM |

Maybe Miller is terrible due to bad coaching? That is certainly what boozie/ bonermilker would say if he was performing like that here.
^It is the closest it has been but to hear boozie etc. you would think we were one of the most talented teams in the nation (comparisons to Kentucky come to mind ). The premise of my argument is if you look at the actual rankings many ACC teams aren't really that far behind us talent wise (FSU could easily be considered as talented for example).

Miller is a poor man's Larry Drew or Kendell Marshall. Enough said.
I don't know whether the stars back it up, but GT's around as talented as us, and more talented than FSU. But Hewitt is the worst coach in the ACC (except maybe vowels, but he's a first year at Wake so I'll leave him out of this... for now) and GT's young like us.
We're no Kentucky, but we're probably top 15-20 in talent] 1/14/2011 1:17:00 PM |

Keep rolling your eyes douchebag. Tree brought up Kentucky. All we are saying is that we are in the 2nd/3rd/4th ranks of ACC's best talent.

And? FSU finishes better than us yearly. We are struggling with the likes of UVA, Clemson, and BC which clearly by your beloved rankings, which you had to research for an hour because you didn't even know our own recruits, are ranked below us.

Actually GT's talent (for once) is a little down. They have Shumpert but outside of that most of their big name talent is gone.

This is the first year we have had a monster recruiting class under Lowe (Hickson was impressive but there were huge issues on that team referV). Yes Costner had talent he also was a head case and hurt/fat for everything but Lowe's first year.

Home games we'll probably win: Miami VT Clemson
Other games we have a decent shot at in order of how likely we could win IMO: FSU @FSU UNC @Clemson Duke @UNC
Games we'll almost certainly lose: @MD @Duke
Probably end up doing something like going 3-0 in that first set, 2-1 in the next, 3-3, then 0-2 9-7 " |
Post from a couple pages back. A disagree with a lot of this. First of all, no road ACC game is a gimmee. Second why do you think we'll beat VT at home? They have a star player and star players light us up like Christmas trees. We do not have a decent shot to beat Duke either time we play them. Also UNC will probably beat us both games, again not a decent shot to win. At best we go 2-4 in those six games you listed as "decent shot to win".1/14/2011 1:38:34 PM |

This is the ACC we're talking about. Down or not, we're still one of the best conferences in the country.
It takes all the right pieces to be successful here, ever. 1/14/2011 1:41:23 PM |
BigEgo Not suspended 24374 Posts user info edit post |
WF is most definitely a gimme. UVA is banged up pretty bad right now, and at the point in the season we get them it favors us since we're such a young talented team (ideally we'd be hitting on all cylinders at the end of the season). We should win both of those games.
It's a home game, VT has been dealing with injuries and has been able very very beatable in the past if you could shut down one of their big three. Well, they're playing with like 1.5 of their big three and have lost a few guys for the season already (including Hudson).
We beat Duke last year, and Duke is downright terrible inside. If we play well we have a shot at beating them. UNC is also very beatable since they don't really have much polish
@Don Beebe (going to assume it's you since you have a similar posting style), year 1 our biggest problem was depth. year 2 it was lack of a PG (something you truly cannot fault Lowe for either). year 3 was still that lack of a PG and overall talent. year 4 still missed the pg, and started to get the right talent but the talent is young. year 5 we're young, but should still make the NCAA tourney.

Okay so duke lost @fsu but if we lose to fsu our season is over, lowe should be fired, we should cancel the remainder of our games.
This should be a gimme even though we will be 6-7 point underdogs!!!!
FSU is great defensively but I think tracy can get us buckets. I'm definitely worried about our perimeter guys getting swallowed though, we need howell to step up too.
Fsu shouldn't be able to score much on us, imthinking this Is a game in the mid 60's and it will be fairly ugly so look out, this thread will be a cess pool after the game win or lose 1/14/2011 4:06:38 PM |
