Has anyone tried Bare Minerals? I know 2 or 3 people who are in love with it, but before I shell out for it, I'd like to hear some more opinions. I have some of the eyeshadows, but I'd like to try the foundations. 8/15/2006 3:06:13 PM |

Does it stay on well? I can't figure out which shade I would be, but I guess they give you two shades so you can blend for a reason. 8/15/2006 3:14:58 PM |

You cna buy a starter set of Bare Minerals at Sephore for $55 or $60, I believe. I don't know if they can try it on you there in the store, but there is a Bare Minerals/Escentuals store in SouthPark Mall in Charlotte, if you live near there, you can go try it out there too. If you do try it in Sephora and like it, order it online - they send you tons of free samples in the mail, and you can choose what samples you want. In the Started Set, you get like, a foundation and a concealer and brushes and eyeshadows and stuff. Here it is: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P116620&categoryId=C10470
Anyways, speaking of makeup, I bought this great new Chanel mascara called Inimitable and the brush is new and different from any other ones out there - it feels like it's made of silicone or something, and the mascara itself is gel based, whereas all others are cream based. I reallly love it. 8/15/2006 3:19:46 PM |

I really liked it, but I don't know how well it stayed on i didn't pay too much attention to it
^do you think the free deals and stuff will be around for awhile? i'm thinking of asking for something like that for my birthday 8/15/2006 3:24:11 PM |

Sephora ALWAYS has free samples. I believe it has to do with how much $$ you spend. I got a Smashbox gift set last summer online from them and I think it was $45 and I got to choose 3 samples. They give out samples always in the store too, but the online ones are better. My best friend loves Bare Minerals and swers by it, and she is done in no joke, 5 minutes flat. I would like to try it, but I am skeptical. I keep switching foundations back & forth - I used to use the Clinique Superfit, then I tried the Chanel Double Perfection to something, and now I'm back to the Clinique. I just can't find out that I really like that works well for me - my skin is so fucked up. I have a dry patch on my lower left cheek spreading to my chin, but my forehead and nose are really oily. *sighs* 8/15/2006 3:41:08 PM |

i have it
i absolutely LOVE the mineral veil..its pure genius
the foundation is okay, it's kind of a pain for me though since they don't have my color so i have to mix the darkest shade in the medium and warmth in order to get my skin color.
You never realize that you have makeup on though, its not caked on and you can barely feel it..it's perfect for the summer because it rarely rubs off easily 8/15/2006 3:42:23 PM |

Okay I am almost out of mascara--
I don't want to spend a million dollars, so what's a cheap easy-to-find brand that makes lashes super long?
Please advise. 8/16/2006 11:30:18 AM |

As far as mascara goes, I've always had much better luck with maybellene (sp) than with any expensive brand I've tried. 8/16/2006 11:33:42 AM |

^^clinique's lash doubling mascara is great. I have a clinque two sided mascara- lip gloss stick that I just love. and there's a maybeline extending mascara that I've used in the past that I love.

I love Maybelline mascara.
And I use the Neutrogena foundations and I've been really happy with it. Good, light coverage. 8/16/2006 11:41:28 AM |

The MAC Pro-Lash Mascara is great and it's only $10. I think a lot of Maybelline ones can be like $5ish anyways, and the MAC stuff is great quality and, of course, is used by make-up artists.
I love MAC stuff for having fun - I have a lot of their loose glitters, and I apply a base of the Paint to my lids and add glitter, or I line it with a crazy glitter color (like hot pink or turquoise) before I go out. All in moderation, of course, but I really like it. They always have the best, coolest colors.
This Saturday, I am going to a pretty big Chanel event at Belk's - they're having professional artists from NYC and gift bags and such - I can't wait.
Anyways, new random topic: Perfume. What do you girls wear? I have: Thierry Mulger Angel, Dior Hypnotic Poison (been wearing these 2 since middle school), Burberry Britt, Miss Dior Cherie, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Anna Sui Dolly Girl On The Beach, J'adore Dior, and Stella McCartney. I know it seems like a lot, but I just have one for like, every occasion. I LOVE the Stella McCartney, it smells really sophisticated and mysterious. I want to get the original Marc Jacobs (gardenia scented), as well as this new Bvlgari Au The Rouge, I got a sample at Sephora and loved it. 8/16/2006 3:05:35 PM |

i don't know the maker but i got it at Anthropologie...it's called Woman in Yellow and i loooooooove it. it's very light and has a warm flowery scent.
i like things that smell "warm"...ginger is one of my favorites. i used to wear white tea and ginger silk spray from BnBW but that line has been discontinued (it's only available in the body spray now and it's not as smoothe and smells different/not as good to me). i have a bunch of perfume but Woman in Yellow is the only one i wear...

The only normal perfume I use is Aquolina's Pink Sugar. I get the rest from http://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/welcome.html.
I tried the new CoverGirl mascara with the different style wand. It doesn't clump as much as others but other than that it's not very special. Lucky for me my complexion has gotten very good over the past year or so and I generally just wear loose powder instead of foundation (which is great because it used to be hard to find a good shade).
Heads up if you like that sort of stuff: Bath and Body Works is having a sale on their Temptations line, so all the strawberry daiquiri and pomegranate martini stuff is $5 now. 8/17/2006 9:06:42 PM |

anyone have good suggestions on detanglers? i've used a few different kinds of conditioners, but my hair is really fine, and it always tangles at the ends. i'd like to be able to get out of the shower and pull a comb through it. anyone have suggestions? i have fine hair that hits around my shoulder blades. 8/17/2006 10:29:42 PM |

this sounds silly, but i have reallly thick long hair and i always use johnson & johnson's kids detangler and it works really well. and it smells like strawberries. if you wash/condition everyday, try using a deep conditioner, because it will help detangle it as you wash your hair. I've also found a good way to brush/comb tangled hair is if you divide it into two parts, like you're making two pig/pony tails on either side of your head. bring them to the front, and work through them from the bottom to the top, kind of in layers. Like, once you finish the bottom one inch, go up another inche and work through those bottom 2 inches. And work further and further up your hair. 8/17/2006 10:50:06 PM |

one thing that helped me was getting the dead ends trimmed off
took off between 2-3 inches and brought it up to just below shoulder length but since then i've had very few tangles
also the hair cutterist said to use kids detangler and some stuff called proclaim glossy polish(smells good, makes the hair shiny, and detangles/conditions the hair) or the spray stuff of the same name
you just put it in and comb it through when the hair is damp after a towel dry 8/17/2006 11:22:42 PM |
Skwinkle burritotomyface 19447 Posts user info edit post |
I usually spray some leave-in conditioner on the ends of my hair after I get out of the shower, which works wonders as a detangler. You said you have fine hair, which I do too, and I can't really condition all my hair because of it (it gets weighed down if I do). The leave-in really helps with that issue. 8/17/2006 11:23:22 PM |

mine is fine aswell
define weighed down as conditioning it all doesn't really weigh it down for me, though that could be because i have curly hair 8/17/2006 11:27:31 PM |

as for detangling...comb your ends first, and then work up.
don't start and the roots and work down. 8/17/2006 11:32:44 PM |
Skwinkle burritotomyface 19447 Posts user info edit post |
By "weighed down" I mean my hair pretty much looks like crap if I condition the roots. Fine, straight hair tends to look oily pretty easily, so especially a few hours after I've conditioned it looks really horrible. Usually, hair should have some body to it, but when I condition there is pretty much none at all. 8/17/2006 11:33:00 PM |

Everyone keeps telling me about it. Unfortunately, Nine West doesn't make many wide width shoes, and the outlets almost never see them.
I did go to the Nine West outlet in Gaffney, SC this weekend, though 8/29/2006 1:41:50 PM |
