looks like his endorsers suspended him (Nike, Reebok)
Quote : | " FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) -- Nike suspended its lucrative contract with Michael Vick on Friday, while Reebok took the unprecedented step of stopping sales of his No. 7 jersey.
Facing protests from animal-rights groups, Nike announced it was suspending Vick's endorsement deal without pay, as well as halting sales of Vick-related shoes and other products at its retail stores.
Reebok, the official uniform supplier of the NFL, said it would stop selling Vick's replica jersey at retail stores and through its Web site.
The moves came one day after the Atlanta Falcons quarterback pleaded not guilty to federal dogfighting charges in Richmond, Va.
"Nike is concerned by the serious and highly disturbing allegations made against Michael Vick, and we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane and abhorrent," Nike spokesman Dean Stoyer said in a statement.
Since Vick has not been convicted of any crime, Nike left open the door to resume its business relationship with the star player if he's acquitted.
"We do believe that Michael Vick should be afforded the same due process as any citizen in the United States," according to the statement. "Therefore, we have not terminated our relationship."
Vick is barred from the Falcons' training camp while the league investigates his actions for possible violations of its new personal conduct policy.
Although Reebok does not have a business relationship with Vick, the Massachusetts-based company serves as the official supplier of apparel and equipment to all 32 NFL teams. Through that deal, it holds the coveted rights to sell jerseys at the retail level.
"We just find the allegations very upsetting and very disturbing," Reebok spokeswoman Denise Kaigler said. "While this is just the beginning of the legal process and we know that it has to have time to run its course, we felt that making this decision now was important and the right things to do."
Reebok said it also was willing to take back any unsold Vick jerseys that are returned by retail outlets.
Kaigler said she already had received numerous e-mails in support of the decision. Even though numerous NFL players have run afoul of the law, this is the first time Reebok has stopped sales of an individual jersey.
"The number of e-mails and statements we're getting from consumers was pretty telling about how disturbing people find these allegations to be," Kaigler said.

the major sports card companies have also suspended the making of his sports card for this coming year. What you have to realize though is that these major companies have lawyers working for them as well. Do you really think that the lawyers for these companies would advise they go to these lengths if they weren't pretty much sure his career is over????
They are lawyers. They have read the indictments. They know that they are federal charges and some might even have inside type information. All of this really goes to show that Vick is done for IMO.... 7/29/2007 1:35:07 AM |

well not to mention the guy he had a falling out with about 3 years ago is trying to enter a plea agreement thing
i heard they are basically trying to make vick the main one that gets all the shit...plus i heard more charges can be filed while this is going on 7/29/2007 1:37:08 AM |

yeah the whole thing about those conspiracy charges is that as long as Vick is proven to have at least known what was going on he will be found just as guilty as the people who actually commited the crimes. If Vick is found to have known that dogs were going to be executed, it might as well be like Vick did the executing himself. That is what i find is hilarious about all these people thinking Vick has a future in the NFL. He is going to prison. The charges that have been brought against him have pretty much been setup that Vick is going to be fucked. That is of course we have another OJ where Vick can buy his way out of it but OJ was not being brought to trial by the FBI. And the glove seems to fit in this situation. 7/29/2007 2:59:54 AM |

they're going after Vick because they know he can be forced to pay the stiff fines and turn the house over to the state through Civil Forfeiture laws. The FBI doesn't care about who committed the most heinous crimes - they only care about who they can milk the most money out of to pay for the investigation and court proceedings. 7/30/2007 12:27:51 PM |

If Vick had just attended a couple dog fights then I would agree with your argument. But he seems to be the ringleader. Vick is the Capone of dog fighting.
I think they are doing the right thing by going after him. 7/30/2007 1:45:27 PM |

Did you read charges? Where the hell did it say he was the ringleader? Do you really think he had the time to be the ringleader of a national dogfighting ring... you know, being the starting quarterback for an NFL team and all?8/1/2007 11:05:36 AM |

^^i would refer to him as a ringleader since it was not only his property, but the buildings on his property were disguised.
if you visited your house in virginia that was meant as a financial investment and saw your cousin had painted all the buildings black, would you not have them painted to another color to up the value of the investment? i mean unless you know what is going on and are attempting to hide it. 8/1/2007 11:22:03 AM |

i've always respected mcnabb for all the shit he has had to put up with in philly, but after this i have just downgraded him to another typical nfl dumbass. along with sanders, portis, and any other player that has the slightest amount of pity for vick.
i also dont respect the naacp, but then again i never have. specifically b/c they support guilty mofo's like vick and oj.

it is when it's a flat black that covers all the structures from top to bottom. there have been several quotes about how the buildings cant be seen from more than 30 ft away at night.
anybody that makes their property look like that is obviously trying to run an operation in their backyard that they are trying to keep low key. there is no reason to paint it like that otherwise. unless you are just obsessed w/ black, but then why not paint your house like that?

Beamer's stance on Vick is still disgusting if you ask me. Just wait, when Vick goes down, and he will, Beamer will still say that "while Vick was in Blacksburg" he was a model citizen, and won't dare touch this issue. It's a good thing Marcus Vick was a class act to provide some good exposure to the name Vick, oh wait, he showed his piece to some kids at Mickey D's over a happy meal, great job Mrs. Vick!! 8/2/2007 11:05:47 PM |
