360 been out for about 2 years. PS3 been out for about 1.

360 has Gears, Crackdown (bombed), Forza.
PS3 has Resistance, Motorstorm.

360 is coming out with Halo2, Mass Effect, Fable 2.
PS3 is coming out with MGS4, Killzone2, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, FF13, Gran Turismo 5, UT2007, Warhawk. This doesn't even include any of the PSN games that are going to be huge like Little Big Planet and David Jaffe's next game.

I seriously don't understand what this whole "there are no games arguement is all about. I don't really see many more killer titles for 360, and damn sure don't see any coming out soon compared to what the PS3 has coming out.

Can we please just end all the shit here and get back to where this topic was: talking about the PS3? No reason to have any of this lame fucking system wars fanboy bullshit. Its all just so fucking stupid.

Sony's desperation move is funny. I'm not bashing the console, because I like it, not enough to buy it cause I'm broke right now, but I do like it.

Sony gives the price cut and says we're not going to make any more of this model, once the 499 model is gone, thats it, 599 for the rest of you. It creates a since urgency to go ahead and get one and gives the price cut.

i can understand the 360 and PS3 crowd going at it...they're fighting for the same gamers...but the wii, good as it may be in it's own world, has no place in serious console gaming discussions. it's not apples to oranges, but you can't expect me to take shit like pokemon, wii fit, and what seems to be an endless stream of mini-games seriously

I think part of the reason why the PS3 has so many people against it and the ps3 fanboys, is the arrogance they often present. Also, the willingness to not admit they fucked up (I'm looking at you SCEA). Instead we get mindless rhetoric about the 10 year plan, how the PSP and PS3 are not designed to compete with the DS or the Wii because Nintendo doesn't make serious games, and transparent marketing ploys to sell a failing product quicker.


btw, I prefer Pokemon over something like Final Fantasy ( a game so amazing it plays itself)

^Did you read anything about E3 this year? If you did, you'd have seen that the only arrogant company present was Nintendo. All they did was point at pie charts and sales figures and say "yeah, some cool games with Mario in them are gonna come out eventually". They've been getting creamed in the console wars for over 10 years now, and after 6 months of relative success, they put up a "Mission Accomplished" banner. All the Wii is right now is a nice little novelty item with a Gamecube port as it's only decent game. They are gonna have to do better than that if they ever want to become relevant in anything outside of mobile games again. And before you get all uppity, I do own a Wii.

I love how this thread went from "who has a ps3?" to "who doesn't have a ps3 and why?".

Its a great deal. I have not even come close to using 20 gigs on my 60 gig. You will have more than enough space on there for demos, downloaded games, and game saves. If you want to start putting movies and other media on there, you may be in trouble.

I got a deal on an external WD passport 160GB, ripped it open and slapped the drive in my PS3. That space can get used up pretty quick w/all the games (I've got almost all games d/l from the network), and even some of the blu-ray games install up to 2GB on your disk if you let them.

As for the controller charge question, in my experience they hold a charge for a really long time. I only play 1 or 2 hours per day max, but I only have to charge mine about once every 2 weeks, sometimes even less than that.

FYI, I think EB/Gamestop has a 'deal' right now where you can trade 2 used ps3 games for 1 new one. I might trade in Madden 07/NBA Street Homecourt for Madden 08 (if they'll let me do that).

yeah, i'm mostly talking about downloadable games from the PSN (blast factor, tekken DR, lemmings, etc etc). Some of those can be quite big. The biggest space hogs, though, are blu-ray games that allow you to use the HDD as a cache (like ridge racer + spiderman 3).

I only payed $80 for the WD passport, so it was a worthwhile upgrade in my eyes.

I don't need any space for music or movies, since I've got a home network running. The only videos that get stored to my HDD are trailers, and even then it's usually only momentary.

I am more of a PS2 fan but have a 360 currently. I was actually thinking of doing the same as guitarguy and maybe get a used used PS3 and upgrade it. However I am still waiting to see what happens this holiday and see which console will have the best games and be the best bang for the buck.

I currently like my Xbox 360 but I would prefer the PS3. The 360's Live network is great but we'll see if it's worth keeping or selling.

regarding controllers...I have left the controller on for days at a time and never had an issue

I would highly recommend to everyone buying a 6ft USB extender. that way even if you do find yourself with a dead or dying controller, you can just hook it up and keep gaming

as far as space is concerned...most demos of full games run about 500MB to 1GB. PSN titles are usually much smaller.

HD trailers might hit 100MB, but I don't think may of the E3 trailers did

just downloaded the GT5 demo for PS3....hot.

cars look really good and the background was nice. it only had one track but i can infer that it will be pretty awesome when all is said and done.

controls were pretty basic like always but nicer cars def. drove better than shit boxes and what not.

4.5/5 would be better if the game could look exactly like the screen shots but not that big of a deal.

^Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo is pretty freaking awesome.

All Pro Football 2k8 comes out tomorrow and I'm really curious as to how it is going get reviewed. They really kicked Madden's ass back in 05, and after they weren't allowed to make NFL games anymore, Madden really went to shit. Can't wait for a good nextgen football game to buy, just not sure which one will be best yet.

They said there would be a demo for 2k8 sometime, so hopefully it will be this week. Also, can't freaking wait for the Heavenly Sword demo.
