why on earth would you want to lose well defined quads? chicken legs aren't attractive.

Perhaps because mucle weighs more than fat, and womeo are worried more about their weight, as an objective number than things like body fat percentage

My workout regimen for cardio is 10 minutes on jacobs ladder then 20 on the Arc Trainer intensifying then slowing down every few minutes.

Personaly trainer said that was real good, do I need to stay longer maybe?

I once lost twenty pounds in a week due to mono.

It's completely doable the healthy and nonhealthy ways!

It's a rotating ladder that's set at a vicious incline. Really gets my heart going.

^ yeah, I've been down with strep throat and an ear infection for a week, and I've lost 6 pounds. I haven't been able to taste anything for 6 days, so that cuts out eating for the fun of it!

Put in the little bit of effort now, even if it's hard, and it'll pay off in the end. Just look at your "I feel sexy thread" and see what a difference it already makes. When you reach your goal, you'll have really accomplished something big. Either way, you should be proud of where you've gotten now, you know you can do it!

the only cardio I do is 2, maybe 3 times a week

usually I just do Hill sprints, 15 mins, twice a day

bodyfat is currently at 10% and I just started doing cardio again...it really isn't needed to maintain a low bf%...but it's good for your heart and allows you to eat a little extra

is there any way to measure body fat % without calipers or the submersion thing?

My scale must be busted. There is no way I'm 23% fatass.

I'm down from a high of 197 in October to 179 right now.

I walk ~4 miles a day with my dog (two miles in the morning, two miles in the evening), and I've been getting back into some weight lifting again.

Now that I live with my fiance, we've been making dinner more often rather than meeting up and eating out. That's the biggest help. Other than that, it's just been little things. I eat a banana every morning. I have a part-time job in an office on-campus, and I bring my lunch every day. I put lettuce on my sandwich and bring an apple and All-Bran Garlic Herb crackers (FTW, by the way) instead of chocolate chip cookies.

For dinner, no matter what we're making, which is usually pretty healthy anyway, we always make sure to have at least one veggie side with it. Little stuff makes all the difference.

I'm not going to break any records for most weight lost in a short time or anything, but I feel better, I look better and I'm motivated to keep doing these things because I've seen results.

You can definitely feel the benefits exercise has for your body. I'm honestly in the best shape I've ever been in and will never cut exercise out of my life again.

The dieting thing, I get offhand and eat bad foods socially. When it's just me, I eat fine. Damn peer pressure.

I need to say "No" better and remember food is fuel, not a minute delight for my tastebuds.

I lost 30 lbs last spring in about 3 months and have kept it off.

Follow this plan:

fruit for breakfast ( I usually have 2 apples, or an apple and a bannana)

salad or eggs for lunch

Subway or something of the like for dinner....

basically I have about 1200-1400 calories a day.

Very rarely do I drink soda anymore.

And I work out 3 times a week, monday, wed, friday with weights. And I play softball twice a week.

so it's either treadmill, bike, or elliptical...cough cough fuck no cough, or just sprints of some kind which I prefer

I've started to train with a new coach. So, I'm pretty excited about it. This has nothing to do with losing weight, but the topic started going towards fitness.

Anyways, I'm glad a lot of you are getting closer to your goals.

yeah, I mean I think the elliptical is better than a treadmill (better on your knees..less chance of shin splints)

but for my goals it's stupid to do 30-60 minutes of elliptical work however many times a week

I can obtain adequate fat loss by doing HIIT (essentially sprinting) 2-3 times a week for less time

you can get a set of calipers on ebay for $5. they'll work just fine.

also, you can do HIIT training on an elliptical machine. I actually prefer it, because you can expend more energy on an elliptical than you can running due to the number of muscles involved.

Yeah, I use the elliptical when I go to the gym. It's a good workout and I like the programs and built in heart rate monitor. I got totally burned out on it last fall though, so I mostly excercise outdoors now.

Still love this thread. A year ago, I lost about 25lbs but eventually gained it all back. Which makes me very sad. It actually pisses me off.

Guys, where is the first place you start to lose weight?

I ask because I seem to have lost weight in my hips/waist, but my stomach seems to be even larger. I didn't know if this was common. I am really looking for some results, that will help to keep me motivated. I know I am making progress. I have been eating roughly 1500 calories a day and exercising about 4 days a week.

I am also finding that it seems to be all about dieting. Cardio helps, but a couple cookies will fuck up 40 minutes on the eliptocal. My other question. how long do you usually do on the eliptocal or a bike? I have been riding an exercise bike for about 20 minutes and then the eliptocal for about 20. Some days I feel like I am about to die. Other days I feel like I coult go for another hour. I would just like to know what a nice baseline to use would be.

usually the last place you gained fat is the first to go and the first place you gained it is the last...where you accumulate fat depends a lot on genetics

Wheat bread, turkey, romain lettuce, and mustard for dinner. Out of carrots to replace chips. No chips though.

I've been good today so far.

Went shopping and finally bought some shorts/capris even though in a few months they'll be too big. I'll keep the receipts.

And while you're at the bar, we're eating delicious hamburgers and steaks.

The bar isn't worth it. I don't like beer. Shots get the job done quicker with fewer calories.

I'm not impressed.

GHB gets it done with no calories and raises growth hormone levels to supraphysiological levels. too bad they don't serve it at bars.
