^^^haha yeah, they might as well make them all breakaway rims since people obviously do dunk on them. the side with the breakaway rim you can play fullcourt cause the other goal is fine. but on the side across from it, one of the rims is bent down really far. kinda sucks.

I'm probably dating myself here, but I remember playing at"The Abbey" when it first opened. They had nice rims but small courts.

Ron Kelly used to be out there all the time. I remember thinking how can a starting C on the NCSU bball team get his ass handed to him by random people (not me) from an apartment complex but that was what was happening...

^hhahah yeah, streetball is an entirely different world though.. i'd think most good centers would hold their own, but ron kelley was the type who probably needed plays designed for him, and fouls to be called, haha



i remember brian keeter used to play ball at godbold in cary all the time... he was constantly getting his shit handed to him, yet he would always talk the most trash.... goodtimes

So I went to my gym this morning and was going to shoot around for like an hour after I lifted.

No sings were on the bball court entrance but I walked in and there is a huge wooden thing supporting the center beam in the ceiling above one hoop. I didn't think much of it, shot around for like an hour and then the gym people came and said there is some structural damage so the bball court will be closed "until further notice."

That would really piss me off if it's not open soon again. Granted, I'm moving back to Raleigh in like 4 or 5 months, but I'd like to keep my routine while I'm here and not just play my one league game a week with no practice...

I'm pretty sure that anyone keeps track of their pick-up game stats deserves to be shot...

The open adult league I'm in though keeps track of almost every stat. It's nuts. A kid that used to play for UN-Reno is averaged 37 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists.

I'm second in the league in 3 pt % thank you very much (43.8%) but I tend not to force my shots and am more of a true 1 -- in other words I like to pass.

Check out the local YMCA leagues. I'm nearly certain they have a competitive and a recreational one @ the Hillsborough Street one that starts soon... I'm probably going to play through that when I move this summer...

I'm probably a tweener so I'm not sure which I'll do. I'm good but not great. Like if I play with a bunch of novices I could probably put up 30-40 on any given night. But I play against a bunch of studs I'll probably struggle to hit double digits.

we need to get together to play some time.


im in the competitive adult league at the YMCA in cary.. there's some serious competition there. my team finished 3-7, and in 2nd to last, but we won our first playoff game last week. won by 13 points. the same team beat us by almost 30 during the season, hahaha.. revenge is sweet.

we play the #1 seed this coming up wednsday, they beat us by about 20 both times we played them during the year.. it probably won't be pretty

but if we can get a tww pickup game going i'm down,

^^ So how is that competitive league at the Y?

I know I've posted about it a lot on here, but I haven't gotten much solid information. Like I said before I can hold my own against mid-to-high level competition despite my height (5'9") but I don't want to be playing former mid to high major D-1 talent or anything.

I know Raleigh's YMCA has similar style leagues but it's near impossible to find any information about them online. Plus I'd have to just join a random team because I'm so much better than anyone that I'm friends with (and that really isn't bragging -- just don't have many friends who enjoy playing basketball as much as I do) and I guess they allow that?

I'd be down to play pickup with anyone on here anytime starting next month since I won't have a job right away when I move..
