Grenades definitely kill you if you're caught within an 8-10 foot radius...they just seem much less prevalent because they didn't put that 3x frag perk in this game. In the last one, people would just lob all three grenades as soon as they spawned and most boards just turned into a constant downpour of frags. Especially that level on the ship on night...put 3x frags and matrydom on that level, and you couldn't go 20 feet without getting blown to shit.

Also I think the layout of the maps plays a big role. As has been mentioned, these boards tend to feature more buildings and alleys and less wide open spaces where grenades are easier to chuck. So you're less likely to die from a random toss and more likely to die from a well executed throw into a tight location, which is more realistic imo. You don't see soldiers tossing grenades around like goddamn water balloons; they find the target and make pinpoint throws, which is what you have to do to score kills with them in this game.

[Edited on November 16, 2009 at 9:32 AM. Reason : also, lots of people use tactical insertion in lieu of grenades, so you see even less of them still]

There were three little kids singing Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus songs into their head sets all night. The more everyone told them to shut up, the funnier they thought it was. Young trolls are soo bad these days.

i've given up all cares about my KD ratio because i discovered the joy of the riot shield, and i mostly play groundwar and am one of the 3 people trying to capture flags while other people just camp the entire game.

i'm having tons of fun playing the multiplayer i'm just kinda lazy about unlocking weapons since its a lot harder to get massive killstreaks.

I just unlocked coldblooded so now it might be easier if not being assraped by helos missiles and sentry guns every 10 seconds, snipers with their thermal bullshit not even attempting to play.

Would anyone like to get a Hardcore match going? my problem with hardcore is that 90% of the people camp since there isn't a map indicating when people fire, so i'm the only one moving around because i hate sitting in one place for 30 minutes waiting for someone to walk in one of the only places i have a good angle while theres 20 people walking right on the other side of a wall or some shit.

and yeah, that was one sentence

How did they make frag grenades less avaliable when you only get one to begin with in CoD4."

They are less available/useful because you have have to chose between a frag/claymore/C4/blast mask/tactical insertation/throwing knife/semtax, and IMO the frag is one of the least useful of these, especially compared to the Semtax which seems more powerful.

I also feel like the frag grenades are less useful in MW2, not only because you limit yourself to a frag grenade as opposed to other equipment, but because they seem a bit weaker. Before I unlocked other equipment, I tried using frags. Despite being good with frags in W@W and COD4, all my grenades do in this game is wound enemies, so I stick with tactical insertion.

There is also the lack of the x3 primary grenade, but I guess with Scavenger or One Man Army you practically have an unlimited # of grenades.

Personally I dont like the new grenade arc/physics, but the trail behind the grenade is a good idea.

Quote :
"How many claymores can be placed at a time? For example, if I plant 2, go use Scavenger to resupply, and plant 2 more, do the first 2 just explode? For as much as I love using claymores, I don't know that I will want to anymore if I have to give up Tactical Insertion. I hardly ever see anybody use claymores in Sabotage games, which I just don't understand.

"

Using One Man Army, you can plant 2 C4 satchels and 2 claymores at the same time, if you try planting a 3rd of either it will detonate the first one you placed.

Anybody messed around with the Danger Close perk? It increases explosive weapons damage (the Pro version of the perk also increases air support damage)

I wonder how much more effective frag grenades would be then

I do not see why they would bottleneck grenades like this in the first place. Not very realistic imho. In combat
I may only have room for a C4 charge or claymore but having a grenade clipped to my belt is no big deal.

What is this pro version stuff? Does Activision along with Microsoft want u to pay more for better in game perks now??

Sounds like add-ons have gotten out of hand.

^Pro version? You mean like stopping power pro? Those are just rewards for getting kills using perks, if you get enough it gives a little bonus, like stopping power pro increases the damage bullets do to enemy vehicles. Unless you are talking about something else

^^no, it's not an add-on or anything like that. It's just they've added additional benefits for using said perks. For instance, if you use the marathon perk you get unlimited sprinting. After you sprint for a certain number of "miles," it unlocks "marathon pro" which means you get unlimited sprinting and you climb over obstacles faster. It's just like weapons challenges to unlock attachments.

^^^ lol, unfounded outrage...

"Pro" versions of perks are just better versions that you unlock after having used the perk for a while.

For example, Pro Cold-Blooded is unlocked after shooting down 40 enemy killstreaks with Cold-Blooded equipped. Pro Stopping Power is (I think) just getting 40 or 50 kills with Stopping Power equipped.

When you equip a perk, it will tell you a new challenge to do with that perk equipped...ie for the one that makes killstreaks take one less kill, if you get 50 kill streaks (of at least 2 kills in a row) you unlock the pro version of that perk, which in addition to making killstreaks take one less kill, also makes death streaks take one less death

you dont have to pay for anything

I've found that Perk 2 is the most critical

Stopping Power, Hardline and Cold Blooded are arguably the best three perks in the game, so it makes sense you can only choose one at a time

I've been going with hardline, but I want try out Cold Blooded to see how much of a difference it makes

Using the One Man Army Perk, you can have the advantage of all 3^

For instance, lets say you want to get to a 7 kill streak.

Use stopping power for the first couple, then the enemy gets a UAV? Switch to Camo. Once you hit 5 kills, switch to Hardline and get the last kill, and you get the attack helicopter.

i had been using scrambler the last few days but i think im going to change. I noticed when i see my UAV get scrambled i go searching for that guy around the corner and score a kill more often than not. I'm sure that's happening to me when my opponents know i'm close.

What I've seen of Counter-UAV has been surprisingly powerful for such a low-level killstreak... Obviously it's mostly useless in Hardcore, but completely shutting down their knowledge of where your team is (except for heartbeat sensors, which not many people use yet for some reason) is powerful in normal games.

Sadly, it's not flashy and doesn't net you free/easy kills like some of the later ones do. But an organized team could destroy kids even harder by designating one guy to have it. Same thing sort of goes for UAV, too, since relatively few people seem very willing to use it...

While I would prefer all three of my killstreaks to be things that can kill people, ie Predator Missile, Harrier, etc, I recently changed my first one from UAV to Counter-UAV...I know how bad it sucks when somebody uses Counter-UAV on me, and I figure I don't really need UAV because generally a few other teammates will have it

Yes, this has decreased the usefulness of frag greatly. There is a bright side to everything though. As an avid claymore user, i enjoy not having to waste a perk on the claymore now and can use it for something else.

However, Scrambler Pro makes claymores almost useless, not to mention you need scavenger or one man army just to get 2 claymores.

I've been using the cold blooded perk on everything lately because I don't have to hide in the buildings and shadows when a chopper or AC130 is overhead. Considering that the UAV is always online due to people using the hardline perk, it's easy to sneak up on people when they don't see you on radar. I had about 10 knife kills in one CTF match the other night because the other team was too reliant on their radar.

I've been using cold blooded combined with scrambler in hoping that if I open fire with a non-silenced weapon on someone in a building with multiple people in it, someone in the next room won't get an easy bead on me with their radar. I'm not sure if the perk works that way or not though.

I've probably already played MW2 online more than I played WaW. Not if you include playing the WaW beta online, but the full game.

After COD4, WaW just wasn't that appealing to me for whatever reason. I guess I got spoiled by red dot sights and AC130 gunships with 100mm cannons.
