You know you need better macro work when you win a game but yet look at your resources and realize you have 6000 minerals and 4000 gas

Yeah Ive gotten better at remembering my rally points but like you said once I get into microing an army I lose all focus on my base and production. Usually what ends up happening is I micro for a while and then Im like oh shit and queue up everything I have to full at one time then go back to forgetting again once those are done haha. Like you said it would be nice if you got a thing like when you have SCV's doing nothing that told you hey dumbass you arent making any units in your barracks, factory, starport, or command center you might wanna get on that haha

I beat a Very Hard comp 1v1! This is a huge day for me.
8/23/2010 5:59:52 PM
played the trial of this finally. a lot like i remember, just need to learn all the new units + upgrades :-/ just might have to buy it though... i'm not quite as rusty as i expected
8/23/2010 6:28:31 PM
I got roflstomped against the A.I. 1v1 today after not having played in about a week.
8/23/2010 9:06:34 PM
Does anyone have a trial code that I can have?
8/23/2010 9:27:03 PM
The key to online play is constant harassment and knowing what your opponent has. If you have an army sitting in your base, you might as well move it out and at the very least keep an eye on what the enemy is doing or breaking down some rocks, and capturing the Xel'Naga watch towers.I cannot stand it when I draw a partner in a random team game who sits in his base building up an army, while letting the opponent expand freely.Keeping your opponent on defense is the best thing you can do so you can move out and gradually take control of the map.Harass with an army that is completely different than the one you have in your base so they build the wrong counters and you can easily destroy them when you take your main army to finish him off.[Edited on August 23, 2010 at 10:00 PM. I like how you can go 4-1 in placement matches and get placed in Silver League.
8/23/2010 10:57:34 PM
^^ OMG thanks so much man that's jsut what I have been looking for.
8/23/2010 11:10:45 PM
^^haha i played 3v3 with one guy who is a diamond 1v1, one guy who is either plat or diamond 1v1, and we go 4-1 and get placed in silver[Edited on August 23, 2010 at 11:16 PM. Reason : asdfg]

I just play 3v3. I get fucking stressed out and pissed off by 1v1 for some reason (probably because I'm terrible)Just got put into gold league 3v3 though (up from silver), so maybe I'm doing something right?
8/25/2010 12:16:20 AM
it seems like every protoss player in gold 4v4 goes one of two things: Zealot rush, or straight to Voids or Carriers.
8/25/2010 12:18:22 AM
^if this were facebook I would like that comment.
8/25/2010 9:30:48 AM
what is the lag like in 4v4? I start to freeze up in large 2v2 battles so I haven't even played a 4v4 yet because I figure there is no way I would be able to do anything in an epic 4v4 game. I need a new computer but can't afford one right now. If I keep locking up in 2v2 games I might have to, got all my settings to low and drivers updated. Fine 1v1 and most 2v2 though.
8/25/2010 11:46:03 AM
I've started working on my 4 gate opening with Protoss. I like it because its good in PvP/T/Z.My timing still sucks, but I'm getting better. My main issue is that if I fail I have a big issue transitioning to mid/late game. It isn't a flaw of the 4 Gate opening, I just suck at macro.

I got to the top of my ladder in 2v2 Random Platinum yesterday, and won 3 more games today against diamond players... got like 670 points. How do I get promoted to diamond? Some diamond kid that got paired with me today said he got promoted before he got in the top 5 on the platinum ladder.[Edited on August 25, 2010 at 2:17 PM. Reason : .]

nobody knows how to answer that question. just keep winning, lol.

Theres a lot of speculation on the b.net forums that you have to actually lose occasionally to progress up the ladder.

.[Edited on August 25, 2010 at 5:11 PM. Reason : Damn double post.]
i just lost a game my team was dominating in because everyone got dropped.... checked the final score and i had 30K more points than the next guy, i had a massive econ off 3 bases and plenty of units, annnndddd i get dropped so we lose?
8/25/2010 6:37:00 PM
There could be a provision for having a loss to progress in leagues due to ppl using drop hacks or some automated thing trying to win constantly. I could see that being a neat provision, but it's just speculation on my part.
8/25/2010 8:12:44 PM
Played some more, going 4-1, now at 710 points still #1 in platinum. I WANT DIAMOND wtf Blizzard
8/25/2010 8:34:06 PM
^ you should be in diamond by now. I was #1 in gold and 100 points above #2 before I was promoted to diamond.Be ready though, the competition in diamond is stiff, and I've gotten frustrated with how hard I have to play every match if I want a chance at competing (playing as zerg that is).
8/25/2010 10:22:39 PM
trial finally ran out on me. srsly thinking of buying the game though. ive been havin it handed to me, but i was definitely better tonight once i realized some new tricks (or old ones i didnt know): - command center rally points will make scv's auto-gather the resource you rally to - an scv can be given his next action while constructing a building - a second command center rocks for boosting scv-count and harvesting using the rally point(from terran perspective, i assume all this translates to zerg and toss)but, i miss firebats and goliaths so much... :-([Edited on August 25, 2010 at 11:13 PM. Will be a week before I play again and already having withdraw. As for moving up in divisions, lose. Lose at least 3-5 games in a row. When I've been moved up it always comes after a losing streak then a win, most recently getting bumped to diamond 1v1 after having a horrible night where I went like 3-10 lost 4 in a row or so, finally won one then got bumped up. Score seems to have no bearing on moving up divisions(people in Plat might have 400 points while people in gold have 500 and diamond have 390)..But to some degree right now how the ladder setup is it doesn't matter because nobody knows what the goal is. Do you want to get the most points? Just get to rank 1 diamond? I mean there are diamond leagues with 20+ players that would all be ranked #1 in several other diamond divisions but aren't simply because of who is with them. If Blizzard is just going to release the actual top 200 every few weeks then the leagues really don't mean shit at all...
8/26/2010 2:37:55 AM
i want to move down. its fun steam rolling noobs. hahahah
8/26/2010 7:55:15 AM
Im certainly no expert, but some comments to help you out.

8/26/2010 9:49:12 AM
What is with these names?
8/26/2010 11:21:37 AM
^What do you mean? If some of them look weird most of them are pro-gamers. White-ra is sponsored by Duckload. aTn is a team. oGs is one you'll see on a lot of korean pros like tester (I think his tag is oGssSKS?) because that's a team. The ones I selected were just guys I recognized from notable divisions. All of those guys are extremely good players, and would easily beat several #1 diamond players from other divisions.[Edited on August 26, 2010 at 11:29 AM. Reason : asdfg]
8/26/2010 11:27:05 AM
alright guys entice me. is it really worth buying this game or should i just play the original star craft or brood wars over and over? Are there any changes, other than the story line, that should interest me?
8/26/2010 12:46:32 PM
New units, better graphics, an incredible campaign that has lots of replay value. You should buy it.
8/26/2010 12:51:51 PM
Buy it. Now.I always feel like such a BK when I lose a 1v1 in a RTS. I typically play more team than 1v1, but anyway. SC2 is like the 2nd RTS I've played competitively (hitting the ladders instead of screwing around and either LAN or playing CPU) and the other one I played I was really good at playing everything but the OP 1v1 strat. Excellent team player, win 85% of my games in the other RTS, but always felt like a n00b when I lost.PvP. I like to scout after I get my gateway up vs. P (on 9 pylon vs. T, and after I 2 gate against Z).I do a good job scouting, see everything i want to see, delay a little, and get a proxy pylon in place so I can do a little warpgate harass. by the time I get my 3 warpgates up (I was going 3 gate robo so I could get immortals and observers) he spots my pylon, attacks it with a few zealots and stalkers before I can get too much done. I lose that, but get a pylon at the watch tower, and get a small force there. get a decent force, send over an observer to see what's going on in his base. see a dark shrine but no DTs yet. I was tired and forgot to kite his zealots with my stalkers anddd because I failed on that push, I end up losing the game. If I hadn't been too tired to remember to micro properly, I would have won
8/26/2010 3:04:02 PM
I've been playing a lot of FFA with toss and I'm winning most of the games with mass carriers.
8/26/2010 3:04:04 PM
Seriously, go buy it.The single player is worth it alone. The story line, game play, and other game mechanics (upgrading in the armory, mercenaries, achievements, etc) make it very worth it.Mulitplayer is growing on me too. I used to stay away from RTS multiplayer because I would get steam rolled. But after a few matches against the computer and watching a few videos I've actually held my own. Some of the units that you get in single player are different than Multiplayer, which is another good reason to play both.
8/26/2010 3:21:12 PM
i have a sick obsession with FFA games. I dont know why. I think its just fun to see all the different play styles.
8/26/2010 3:29:05 PM
Yes! Bronze league 1v1 haha
8/26/2010 7:53:59 PM
^What did you go 5-0 in placement?
8/26/2010 8:21:18 PM
I'd hate to be bronze league. I'd never lose so I'd never advance
