But seriously... after the game Duke's QB said we did everything that he had seen us do on tape. We didn't adjust. Or couldn't adjust.

Also that quote about sill looking to fill 10 or 11 starting spots doesn't paint the future in the best of lights. Something tells me the coaches aren't on the fence on who to fill those positions because there are multiple good options to chose from. Probably reading too much into it.

^^you didn't need the defensive playbook last year to understand that our entire secondary stood still until the pass left the qb's hand, then all tried to converge on the receiver once he already caught the ball and began advancing it.

My one true hope for this defense is that we'll be able to get enough pressure to cover for our horrible pass defense. Unfortunately teams will probably start to exploit that pressure with ball screens and quick routes.

What the hell is the matter with you people? Our defense had five freshmen playing on it, mostly in the secondary. We lost our star linebacker, we had a good reason to be HORRIBLE. They ARE going to be a better defense this year. Shut up with the "our secondary is gonna be just as horrible as last time" bullshit.

blitzing effectively would help our secondary. but if we blitz and they pick it up...we will just expose the secondary even more. but i agree with ^^. you cant get ur ass kicked consistantly for a whole season and not learn anything from it.

Depends on why the freshmen was so bad last year...It could either be

A) they were freshmen and made too many mental mistakes since they were so new to the system

or

B) they just didn't have the physical ability to do the job

if A then yes they should be much better than last year. If B, then we're in for another long season.

Duke may have sold out season tickets (thanks to people spending buying season tickets for $62 just for the Alabama game), but they will have 15K people at their opeing game against Elon versus 60K at Carter Finley for Western Carolina. How many season ticket holders will show up for other games? They will probably get 30K to UNC and 25K to UVA.

They made the point in the article that State has sold more season tickets than the capacity of Wallace Wade. You people are getting all up in arms about them saying that our season ticket sales are sluggish in comparison to previous years which is undeniably true.

Nicholson wouldn't have given Stone a congratulatory pop if it wasn't a good hit. IIRC he was their best LB at the time too. It was a good hit for QB. Sure Stone was big, but it's not like he was regularly involved in hitting drills at practice, or games for that matter.
