some mornings I agree with what Cowherd says, and I think he cuts to the chase and breaks down a story and simplifies it correctly
other mornings, I not only disagree with what he says, but I want to shoot myself in the face for listening to his whiny stuckup west coast elitist shit like he knows everything about sports just because he looks like he should be in the comic strip Doonesberry
^true that, but Nate has been about the hardest hustling player in the current game, he had just split two defenders, and the block by Howard wasn't the cleanest...they rewarded him for playing hard, and well, since he got into the game, not because he is short

^^agreed 100%
I think its funny how during march madness he went on and on about how big men dominate the sport of basketball and thats why the ncaa tourney was so lackluster this year - because there werent enough big men . then last week he talked about how big men are obsolete and the nba is a guard/wing player driven league. he contradicts himself all the damn time, but he does it in a way that makes him sound like an elitist prick
and yet I still listen, cause I'd rather listen to that then the crappy music stations around here 5/28/2010 9:55:44 PM |

^^i thought he was just an overpaid 3-point specialist, although his play earlier when he missed a 6-foot 'hook' and followed up with the dunk putback, it showed how athletic he was
^i'm only 'stuck' with him from 10am-12noon on my local station in Charlotte, although if I want I can listen to him on XM for longer than that...but yeah...some days, 100% agreement...other days, want to punch him in the eye] 5/28/2010 9:56:04 PM |

I think the bottom line is orlando just has no offensive identity, that seems like it's van gundy's fault but it seems like they need to upgrade their roster some too, it will be interesting to see what changes they make
anyhow, at least boston can get some rest for los angeles now 5/28/2010 10:41:10 PM |

in 1982, The Philadelphia 76ers won the NBA championship.
Since then, it has rotated between Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, and San Antonio. Somehow Miami won it in there, as well.

The series will certainly be interesting...
For the Lakers, Bynum is still limited by his knee injury. They are not as deep as the Celtics, and the bench is suspect. Kobe is getting older and can't do things like he used to. At the same time, Kobe right now is still better than most players in the league. Whether people want to admit it or not, Kobe played phenomenally during the Suns series, and his ability to make shots with a high degree of difficulty is why he is considered the best closer in the game. Rally would argue that the best players in the game don't have to resort to shooting such difficult shots, and it's a valid argument. He'd probably also argue that he amassed his stats against the Suns, a poor defensive team, but I would argue that Los Suns are much better defensively under the Gentry regime than the D'Antoni regime.
For the Celtics, Allen and Garnett are getting older. Garnett especially has fallen off his game since two years ago. He's not Shaq level terrible though, and his defense will always pick up for his shortcomings on offense. Pierce hasn't played as well as the last two seasons either. Rondo, however, has improved by leaps and bounds compared to two years ago. None of the Laker point guards can guard him either...I have a feeling Kobe will be assigned to him. Kobe will sag off of Rondo a lot and dare him to shoot...it also opens up opportunities for Kobe to roam like he normally does. The Celtics bigs are banged up from the Orlando series, and the Lakers bring plenty of size.
As a Laker fan, I'm going to be biased and say the Lakers win in 7. This series won't be as entertaining as the Western Conference Finals, but the teams involved will alone make this finals interesting, just as it did two years ago. 5/30/2010 5:54:19 PM |

Aw thats so sad. Then get the fuck out of this thread. This thread is about all things Kobe. In summation, Kobe will single-handedly sweep the Celtics...literally. I predict some sort of flu bug goes around and everyone on the team except for Kobe (superior dna obviously) gets it. Consequently, Kobe is forced to play the entire series 1 vs 5 and somehow he finds a way to win it in 6 games. 5/30/2010 6:33:39 PM |

Not that you can always use the regular season as a Litmus test, but the Celtics played pretty badly this season and still competed with the Lakers. If they play the way they have during the playoffs and can avoid injuries, then I think it's very possible the Celtics absolutely embarrass the Lakers. I am going to go out on a limb here and say Celtics in 5. 5/31/2010 6:35:25 AM |

Celtics in 6. The lakers only chance to win the series is that they are tough to beat in la.
The lakers won't be able to score on boston. They rely on their bigs scoring down low at will and controlling the glass. Obviosuly, that won't be happening against garnett and perkins. Pierce will make kobe take tough shots and kobe has been known to struggle in the finals against tough defensive teams (det and bos). Unless artest and fisher go off I just don't see them being able to hang. The bynum injury will be huge in this series because you can't go up against a guy like perkins at 70 pct and get away with it.
On the other end boston will have some trouble generating offense also, but rondo is such a huge mismatch for fisher that they should be able to make things happen. Rondo wins the mvp award one would think.
One thing is for sure kobe will be front and center everytime they win a game, and he'll blame his teammates the nights he sinks them with his bad shooting. 5/31/2010 10:51:05 AM |

Just remembere the finals are 2-3-2 so celts in 5 isntout of reach. My 2nd guess would be celts in 7, followed by celts in 6, and then celts in 4 5/31/2010 2:31:31 PM |

Oh is that so? Thank you for clarifying that.
Back to the topic at hand. How bad does your team suck when your only chance of winning is to fake an injury to fire up the crowd? Answer - bad. Pretty bad. (See Paul Pierce or Goran Dragic). However, you can take great solice in knowing that there is no shame in resorting to cheating when playing Kobe. Nothing can stop Kobe. Not even a rape trial. 5/31/2010 2:52:42 PM |

I actually like 2-3-2. It puts pressure on both teams throughout. If LA doesn't take the first 2 games (which I do not believe they will,) then they know they HAVE to win a game in Boston to see another game back at the Staples Center.
I know many may not agree. And I can definitely see how the "road" team has a serious disadvantage if the series goes to 6+ games. 5/31/2010 6:22:36 PM |
