Ok, so I think I found an answer to my own question. For some (and in my case) it happened when collecting the reward for returning Amren's family sword. I've seen reports of it happening to the one hand weapon skill as well, so it may occur to whatever weapon you have equipped when you get the reward.

I solved by leveling the skill again, others were able to solve it by reloading to an earlier save, taking the reward, and not getting the bug the second time around.

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I've got a hood and robes on my new character and it appears to be either or, since it automatically unequipped my armor when I put on the robes. I can wear gauntlets and boots, but the robes take up the armor slot and the hood takes up the helmet slot.

yeah, i'm pretty sure you can't there. i was dressing up one of the dummies in my riften house yesterday and had that snag. (trying to dump items to keep carrying weights down, made too many potions and now no room for apparel)

just FYI, ran across the LOVER'S STONE a little bit outside of Markarath and it raises the speed of all your skills....level up faster..awesome

Yeah, it's a 15% faster skill gain for all skills as opposed to the 20% faster skill gain for the magic, thief, warrior stones in the beginning.

There are some great stone abilities other than increasing skills faster.

Lord stone and steed stone are especially awesome

I had the Ritual Stone for a long time, which resurrects all dead bodies near you...or so I thought, until I used it in a battle and the bodies were too high for use. I picked up the Lovers Stone recently though

beat the game last night.

was going through more of the side quests afterwards, but started having the game randomly shut down on me more since the patch.

used to only shut down in the middle of a load so i at least had the autosave, now i'm losing chunks of time, so stuck taking a break

No lie, I love the xbox 360 controller, best controller ever made IMO. Luckily it works on my computer just as well as it does on my xbox


I'm not one to promote PC elitism, in fact even though most of my video gaming is on PC I'll usually defend the console experience. But Bethesda games are one series that should always be experienced on PC.

If nothing else, at least get the Skyrim: Game of the Year edition when it's on the Steam sale next christmas, by then there will be some absolutely incredible mods.

Both are good, demographic is very different.

The vast simplifications made for Skyrim all make sense to me.

What's the magic resistance bug? I definitely noticed as a Nord that frost dragons did very little damage while fire dragons had my number. I attributed it to the 50% frost resist for Nords, so that much works IMO... unless frost dragons just do less damage.

Since last week there has been no magic resistance. Go get breathed on by a Frost Dragon now and see what happens.

My orc with 80% resist all (30% helm, 50% shield perk) got one shot by a frost trap when I had my shield raised.
