I mean, decorative cuff buttons are kinda silly.
But ties cover shirt buttons, which is why bow ties are the dumbest things ever. 10/21/2014 7:06:51 PM |

This past weekend, I learned Canadians love their cargo shorts.
Took a group of 40 to the Cardinals/Lions game and I'll be damned if every single guy wasn't rocking a pair. I felt so sick all day...now I know why. 11/20/2014 10:16:20 AM |

cargo shorts were always really helpful when I was smoking pot. put your bowl in there. it's not uncomfortably squished in with your wallet, and it doesn't bounce around next to your keys. 5/14/2015 10:49:04 PM |

This is a good description of cargo shorts that nonetheless falls short of capturing the garment's soul. It's not just that they are baggy and sort of shapeless, it's not just that there's nothing less suave than digging your wallet/phone out of a pocket on your leg, it's that cargo shorts have been known for years to be empirically ugly, yet men—only men, these things are the most male clothing item since the codpiece—insist on wearing them. Normal pants have four pockets. When do you need more pockets than that? How many hybrid multitools are you dads carrying around at once? 8/3/2016 3:29:20 PM |

people should wear cargo shorts if they want to.
but also, if you don't like cargo shorts then you definitely don't have to wear them.
so just wear whatever shorts (hell, pants too) that you want. 8/3/2016 5:02:59 PM |

^ wow, some humanity!
^^ i love weaves on regular fabrics, specifically, herringbone, houndstooth, and sharkskin, but especially the first one.
https://textilesmithing.com/2011/02/22/weaves-with-animal-names/
in order: sharkskin, herringbone, houndstooth
those shorts are gorgeous, but f*** paying $75 for shorts. only way i would splurge that much on one piece of regular clothing is on some exceptional dress pants or dress shirt. 8/3/2016 6:08:25 PM |

They were 40% off when I got them. $45 was easier to stomach. I wouldn't have paid $75 for them. I got two pairs for $90 which I think was a steal. I also got another pinstripe pair of shorts that were on the sale rack AND discounted for $16.
Then I got 2 oxford button downs for 40% off a piece as well. I recently switched from Banana Republic to J Crew. The quality is waaaaaaay better. Not only are some of their items made in the US but also much better Italian sourced fabric than the cheap stuff BR uses.
--but recently my summer outfit has been those shorts and these shirts:

But BR uses Italian (and English for wools) fabrics for a lot of their pieces too. BTW, is JCrew on the same level as BR? I thought it was more a competitor for GAP, no?
And yes, love love love pinstripe!
OK, if their t-shirts are $45 and shorts are $75, they definitely target -- even aim above -- BR.

Haha no J Crew is much nicer than Gap. I'd say BR and J Crew are similar but overall I'd say J Crew stuff is slightly nicer. I'm not sure on the quality but I get holes in the elbows of my BR stuff super fast. The J Crew stuff just feels better quality. Two of the shirts I got were made in the USA and they even tell you where a lot of their linen is sourced from.
For example on those shorts:

My thighs are too thick, so I can't wear those j crew shorts (and 90% of shorts to be exact).
I usually find "wider" shorts at the outlet stores (j crew, ironically enough). Perfect for me, because I'm also cheap with clothes. 8/3/2016 7:11:48 PM |
