basically he is a pussy

should've rubbed some dirt on it, and at minimal threw a few bamboo splints and duct tape on it

what kind of bitch takes the wahhmbulance to the hospital instead of staying on the bench to support your teammates

what a joke

Read an article and it sounds like this is probably what they did. ^ Not all open fractures are super bloody. It all depends on location relative to blood supply.

by the looks of dukes defensive gameplan to pressure louisville's guards and force them to drive the only conclusion one can reach is that K through the game after feeling sorry for Louisville.

Inside the bone, where the marrow normally resides.

The surgery is complicated. They dislocate your kneecap, split the patella tendon, drill through the end of the tibia, and then use a mallet and a striker tool to drive the titanium rod through the bone before fastening it in place with screws. Typically they leave it in there.

If you break your tibia again with the metal rod inside it, they have to amputate.

as someone who has had intramedullary tibial rodding surgery due to a blownt up tibia as well,

that shit sucks

but in a 8-12 months or so you can't tell a difference and there's no discernible problems with exercising. he'll be back. maybe.

i had more knee problems due to the surgery than anything related to the break. your knee is basically disassembled then put back together.

and yeah, barring some sort of major issues, that shit stays in for life. you can get the screws removed if need be, that's pretty minor. actually, i can feel the tops of the screws under my skin if you rub in the right spaces. some people have issues where it kinda starts sticking out the top of the tibia and grinds on the knee, but the surgery to remove it is just as bad of a rehab as the surgery to put it in... which included like, 3 months of no weight bearing... you'd have to seriously have a problem to go through that again.

i joke that when i die i want to be cremated, put into an urn, with the rod as a handle, and the screws in the urn, then at the funeral everyone gets a turn with the pilgrimshoes maraca.

i wonder if he was on an annual scholarship or multi-year. it would really suck if its annual and he can't play next year and has to pay for school.

^^^^^I was wondering if we'd hear from you on this one, pilgrimshoes.

So, it looks like his tibia is broken in at least 2 places, maybe 3, that's not good. From the limited stuff I read it sounds like leaving the rod in vs. taking it out is very dependent on how you heal and how the surgery goes. It seems very likely that Ware isn't playing basketball ever again, but medically they do a lot of amazing shit nowadays and maybe he'll be back next year or the year after.

On the plus side for him at least he didn't snap his femur like another guy I know. That shit is truly gruesome. My buddy Otis still has a rod in his femur from a sky diving... incident.

Oh its on! Michigan all the way! I just hope I get the championship game right. I do think Louisville will win it all though. Trey Burke shows up against Syracuse and I think I will get that championship game right.

"Open fractures are emergencies. He probably went into surgery within just a few hours after arriving at the hospital. Golden rule is 6-8 hours or less after the injury, any period after that and it is considered infected. He broke both the tibia and fibula just based in the fact his leg entirely bent downward. The surgeons will determine if he needs a plate or a rod for the tibia based on the degree of comminution and soft tissue integrity. If there is a lit of comminution then they'll need to use a buttress plate to get the bone back out to length. I imagine the syndesmosis was disrupted so there will need to probably be a transyndesmotic screw(s) used. Ware will likely never play high level basketball again. If so it would be amazing."

really?

So this walk on that just hit two 3s is where Purvis wouldve been on L'ville's depth chart.

I wonder how his 10 second wind up for 3 point shooting would work in the Final Four
