ok...i can't really disagree too much with Ohio St. each of the 3 teams had a legitimate argument. but how does TCU drop 3 spots if they were #3 last week? that part doesn't make much sense to me. i know baylor and OSU had big wins against better opponents...but nothing TCU did should've changed anybody's mind about them, right? 12/7/2014 12:45:44 PM |

the committee based everything on one game.
lets forget the whole season.
only justification is that they had so much trouble picking between tcu and baylor that they decided to give alabama a bye.

They are idiots but they don't have to show that they are with weekly polls
The implication is that TCU at #3!!! Didn't control their own destiny in the last week of the season

lol at kirk herbstreit saying "head to head came into play at the end"...why did it not come into play last week, then?
and i understand that baylor and OSU did a lot to improve their resumes yesterday. but it just seems like a flawed way of ranking teams to drop TCU.
this is the problem with revealing rankings each week. 12/7/2014 12:49:43 PM |

my only problem is with FSU at 3, I'd at least put them at 2. but fuck the Big XII. their shenanigans made the B1G look better. don't market your conference as "One True Champion" when you don't fucking have one. rumor mill is that they've immediately petitioned for Conference Championships to be de-regulated (and the ACC has joined in the petition???)12/7/2014 12:54:03 PM |

What we learned today is any ranking before the last one is pure dogshit. I could argue for any of the three to be in but if you are going to release rankings like you do and then just completely flip the script it is pointless as hell. I feel like putting on my tinfoil hat and saying they did it all for tv ratings because I cannot comprehend how TCU drops three spots.

I still need explanation about FSU being 3. They seemed to play similar SOS so if you're going to say its because of margin of victory, then how the hell is alabama #1? They had 3 FSU-style escapes. So what did Alabama do to get so far ahead of FSU? 12/7/2014 1:02:02 PM |

we can still end up with co-national champions under this system if a team like fsu goes undefeated, doesn't make the playoff, wins their bowl and then a team like ohio state makes it in and wins the playoff. 12/7/2014 1:06:33 PM |

^Was about to post the same thing. If Baylor and Ohio St had both gone undefeated, it looks Baylor would still be sitting at home this year based on how the committee handled this.
Now, I don't believe that would actually happen. But this ranking opened the door for that argument to be made. 12/7/2014 1:12:07 PM |

No. I didn't say that an undefeated would be #1 just that they wouldn't miss the playoffs
My guess if Baylor and OSU went undefeated:
#1 OSU #2 Alabama #3 FSU #4 Baylor

The committee didn't schedule them the worst OOC schedule in entire country, either. That's an easy tiebreaker when it comes to rewarding teams with playoff berths.

It isn't like we didn't know that they didn't have a championship game all season or that their last game was against Iowa State. These things are not new, they aren't surprises, they were known when TCU was ranked third five days ago. 12/7/2014 1:40:27 PM |

Everyone's acting like the conferences are equal. The big10 is a shitty conference. None of those teams have any good wins. Oregon crushed Michigan Stae, LSU crushed Wisconsin and Virginia Tech crushed Ohio State. The committee ignored all of this. 12/7/2014 1:44:38 PM |

My thoughts exactly. Next year I plan to not even care about the rankings until the last one because they have proven they are just tossing names around for TV ratings knowing that in the end they mean absolutely nothing. I think they probably got the 4 teams right on who deserves to go. If they picked the 4 actual best teams I think FSU would be the odd one out despite being undefeated, but that was never gonna happen. Baylor played a super weak OOC schedule in hopes it would be easier to go undefeated but if you lose one game then you just assured yourself of not getting in.12/8/2014 8:32:23 AM |

no big 12 championship means a 13 game "body of work" for the other power 5 vs 12 games. and baylor's win over tcu puts baylor ahead of them, all things considered. 12/8/2014 11:01:06 AM |
dmspack oh we back 25535 Posts user info edit post |
yeah the other teams (not big 12 teams) have one more game to pad their resume. but the big 12 still plays 9 conference games....a conference champ plays 8 regular season conference games + 1 championship. but it's clear the committee punished the big 12 for not having a conference championship.
at the same time though, i have a hard time believing texas or oklahoma would have been left out if they were in tcu or baylor's position.
