Haven't we been over this before? I believe one of you criticized a pretty substantial raise of mine on Qs where I was busted...

It's not like 9s are impenetrable...

if you are wanting alot of action and a big multiway pot then i suppose 60 is what you would want to raise.

that reraise the guy did was awful. I'm guessing he had a mid range pocket pair or something like that. By that time you had great odds and had to call. I don't think anyone behind you would have pushed and if they did you probably have them beat. If the blinds were a higher in a s&g, a raise 3x the bb would probably be okay. But since they are so low and the tournament is in the early stages, you need to raise big to isolate one player or take down the pot there.

or even limp in if it's really early and it looks like a loose table

He gave me some shit about being a Superstar by Chris Moneymaker and another book by Phil Laak about how to be intimidating at a table. The foreword in that last book is by Jennifer "I would hit that, but apparently Noid does not wish to, and also Vanessa Rousso...man what I would still do to her" Tilly...

Before the flop Jon Turner raised to 21,000 and Albert Kim called on the button. The flop came {8-Spades} {10-Hearts} {A-Hearts} and Turner led out for 41,000. Kim then raised to 140,000 and Turner moved all in, leaving Kim to decided if he wanted to call for another 336,000.

After tanking for a good bit he indeed decided to call, and found that his {8-Hearts} {9-Hearts} was up against Turner's {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} and top set. The turn quickly reversed the situation as the {Q-Hearts} fell, giving Kim the flush. Turner needed to board to pair to give him the full house, but instead the {4-Hearts} fell on the river, and just that fast Turner was eliminated from the Main Event.

"What am I doing?" Kim wondered aloud after the hand. "I'm so stupid, I'm such a donk. That's the dumbest thing I've ever done."

Jeremiah Smith said, "I agree with you, that's a terrible call. Jon Turner almost always has a set there."

Self-flagellation aside, Kim is still very much alive in the tournament and has around 1.4 million in chips.

If Kim put Turner on something like AK or AQ, then in his mind it was a coin flip. I wasn't sitting there for hours playing with that table, but I can see why he made that call.

if it's a sit and go, that early in the tournament, no...but later, possibly yes. with all that limping in, you'd think someone has two pair, a straight, or a set of 7's. That's not an easy lay down.

At the 10/20 level of a $5 SNG, I would advocate a lay-down pre-flop. However post flop, given that board you've definitley put yourself in a difficult situation.
