since the discussion on here, I looked at a bunch of pictures and I actually like it either way. I know the general rule is more of a 2/3 type look but I actually think it looks fine all the way as well. (I do still plan to look for a shorter clip to mix it up).

I think the issue is that ties are generally much thinner these days, so the bar going across the entire tie happens a lot more often. It takes a little extra effort to find a smaller bar.

While I don't think the bar going across the whole tie looks bad, I think the 2/3 look is much better. If the tie is really skinny, then its makes it a little more acceptable for the bar to go all the way across only because it would just like silly to have an inch long tie bar.
