it's actually not the end of the thread, b/c this is a 235 page thread about all state basketball recruiting.
it's like you didn't have enough time to write a book but still wanted to make an asinine post. 11/3/2010 5:16:13 PM |

This is unrelated to basketball recruiting, but IMO, if you are talking about black guys, just say black guys. The term African American is just something PC to put on a spreadsheet.

Funny thing is that I didn't even remember saying African American instead of black...and I'm rarely conscious of being extremely PC. Not that it matters anyways, I can say whatever the fuck I want.11/4/2010 8:19:17 AM |

Quote : | "Harris Makes Pick, Talks About His Decision
Last year it was Tobias Harris making his college decision, this time around his 6-foot-7 brother Tyler Harris made his college choice.
A senior at Newark (N.J.) St. Benedict, Harris picked North Carolina State after mulling over interest from a host of schools including Iowa, St. John’s and Providence.
Harris, a three-star prospect, said he thought N.C. State had the full package.
“I just thought the school had everything I was looking for,” Harris told Scout.com. “I liked the academics, the coaching staff, the campus and I had a great relationship with coach [Larry] Harris and coach [Sidney] Lowe. It was what I was looking for and I think I can fit into their team.”
During a visit to the Raleigh (N.C.) campus in early October, Harris spent time with the coaching staff and got to take in a practice.
“I got to see what they do and how they practice,” he told Scout.com. “I only saw an hour of practice, but the team works hard and they are going to have a good team this year. I think I can fit into their system. Overall the visit was good.”
So what does Harris bring to the table?
“I’ll mostly being playing the three, but I can switch between the three and the four,” Harris said.
“I like to push the ball up the court and get into the court and I can knock down shots because I’m a good shooter,” he added. “I’ve been working on my handle a lot more and it’s getting better and stronger.”
Harris is now the second 2011 prospect to verbally commit to Lowe and N.C. State. Harris joins 6-foot-9, 240-pound center prospect Joseph Uchebo to make up their two-man recruiting class." |

Quote : | "New York recruiting expert Tom Konchalski said Harris has vast potential but needs to continue to grow stronger and improve his competitive edge.
"He's a guy who grows before your very eyes," he said. He's taller at the end of the fourth quarter than he was at the beginning of the first quarter. He has a super-active pituitary gland. He's going to be 6-10, he might be 6-10 by the end of the season.
"He's made enormous progress in the last year in terms of competing. He always had that Tayshaun Prince 3-pointer off the catch. He shoots deep 3's. He could always cover the court well.
"He needs to get a lot stronger, the way Tobias needed to get a lot stronger. He hasn't done the work on his body to this point that Tobias had done on his body from his sophomore year to his senior year, but he has enormous potential. Since the end of last season, he's made exponential strides in terms of just competing and really playing hard." " |

When I saw his pictures, I was hoping he would be a tayshawn prince clone. Prince had freakishly long arms that gave him an advantage but they still have similar builds. I know Tracy and Javi are graduating, and we had two carry over from Mays and Davis transferring... for some reason I was thinking we'd have 5, or maybe one of those was taken by Leslie?

It'll be interesting to see how the draft unfolds if a lockout is imminent.
Just looking for articles about possibilities
http://www.nbadraft.net/nba-lockouts-potential-impact-nba-draft http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/22/winderman-draftees-wait-until-2011-no-checks-until-2012/
Basically, there definitely will be a draft but in the case of a lockout, they won't earn any money until a new CBA is in place. 11/5/2010 9:13:36 PM |

^i didn't read the articles, and i'll admit ignorance on the rules... but hypothetically, if there was a draft and lockout, could draftees still play college ball? I'd have to guess no.
and what's this about Tyler Harris? I've read he's 6'8" (and skinny), still growing, has a nice 3 catch&shoot, and sometimes plays the 2 in hs? 11/5/2010 10:25:42 PM |

I don't know if this has been posted but here's an interview Tyler Lewis' HS coach and former Wake Forest player Craig Dawson and Tyler Lewis himself. One thing I heard that made me happy was when the Dawson said that the NC State coaches never negatively recruited against the other schools. They mainly focused on NC State and if they even talked about any other schools then it was complimentary. The host though unfortunately is a long winded New Yorker.

I don't like getting AR in this class. We need a guard, but it'd be better to get a combo guard with Harrow already on roster and Lewis coming in the next year. 2 true PGs so instead of using a scholarship on a 3rd who isn't as touted as the other two and might not get a ton of PT at the 1 after Lewis gets here, why not get a guy who could provide depth at multiple positions? 11/8/2010 1:26:30 PM |

^^^Sounds like a good reason to convince Leslie to at least stay one more year. Worst case, he joins the draft and has to sit out a season with no pay. He could just stay at NCSU for a year, still get drafted after the second, and make money with no lull.
Plus, don't you think 6'10" is a little short for a 3?
Who's the next recruit on the radar?

Right now if I had to guess it's more likely that we see Leslie at State for 2-3 years than only one. I'd say 2 is most likely, but 3 if shit happens or maybe he stays if he thinks we have a good shot at a deep tourney run (which IMO could happen just based on the caliber of talent we should have on that team) 11/8/2010 1:39:02 PM |

if CJ Leslie stays for 3 years that means he didnt live up to his expectations and likely means our team didnt either. Which probably means that Sidney Lowe gets fired. Which probably means CJ would leave the team for the draft
so, in other words, barring a serious injury, there is no way CJL is here in 3 years 11/8/2010 2:36:04 PM |
