I don't click on links when the summary of the article is given by the same poster who posted the link. T-dub is lazy, so it's best not to attempt a clever joke that involves more work by the jokee.

ESPN of the NHSS

"Torian Graham
2012, SG, 6-4, 170 pounds
The transfer to Word of God is working out for Graham. His first two years of high school ball were non-descript but his AAU résumé was rock solid. Graham's talent is exceptional as a potential primary scorer for a high-level college team. Athletically, he attacks the rim and can make jumpers from different spots on the floor. Plus, his ability to command his body doesn't go unnoticed in the paint. He came out and popped National Christian in the first half, giving his team a cushion it needed later. Graham finished with 34 points on 14 of 28 from the floor and his stock is on its way up. "

Quote :
"Josh Newkirk (Raleigh, N.C./Word of God) is exceptional at getting in the paint and finishing. In terms of 2013 points, he's going to make a name for himself. W.O.G. is exceptionally talented and deep. Junior T.J. Warren played well and senior center Joseph Uchebo is an excellent rebounder. We knew he had a bunch and the stats folks credited him with 25 rebounds which is a ridiculously-productive performance."

So at least Daniels and Garret will be OVing Saturday (I guess that means they may attend the Bowl Practice too?). Pack Insider is also saying that Nemanja Djurisic (6'8", 235 lb Montenegrin) and Tyler Lewis may visit.

And Daniels is going to enroll somewhere for the spring semester, so I'd imagine he'll be announcing very soon.

Nothing particularly egregious in that thread that I can see, but in general he struck me as a pretty level headed and realistic guy from what I remember. I can see how having opinions might bother some people though.

nah, it's not that he has opinions, he's just a totally irritating trolling douche that tries to stir shit with every single post he eve makes. he really, really likes attention. i guess i'm giving him more by calling him out here. That guy was obviously trying to start some shit in that thread...or it was just a dumb post. He was basically saying Tyler Lewis was getting recruited over. He pointed to one sentence where the recruit said "I like to distribute the ball" and made it sound like Lewis would never play because he's primarily a point guard. Yet he would ignore the fact that the other recruit is a 6'5" athletic guard who says he likes to "get to the rim and finish" and it in a completely different class.

Why even bring that up other than to start shit?

^well, that's true. and i take it back that "every single post" he makes is an attempt to start shit. actually, every now and then he'll make some pretty good analyses. But most of the time, he's just trying to get something going and get some attention. Like in that thread.

Anyways, sorry, i derailed this. Back to recruiting.

Anybody heard much about the Nemanja Djurisic? I seem to think I've seen his name around before. Sounds like a big boy for a high school senior.

Tyler Lewis was averaging 28.3 ppg and 6.2 assists. Last night he had 40 points and 7 assists. He broke a 3-game scoring record that was held by Chris Paul (according to PI).

Word of God's Uchebo understands his role on court
Quote :
"RALEIGH -- Word of God senior Joseph Uchebo would like to be more of an offensive threat, but he knows his gifts.

"I'd like to be a scorer, but I have to go out and get rebounds to help my team," said Uchebo, an N.C. State recruit.

The Nigerian center snatched 12 rebounds and scored five points in Word of God's 74-42 dismantling of Brandon (Miss.) in the Summit Hospitality Group's fifth-place game in the GlaxoSmithKline Holiday Invitational at Broughton's Holliday Gym on Thursday.

His height (he's currently listed as 6-foot-10) was Uchebo's ticket to the U.S. Coupled with tenacious rebounding skills, it could lead to much more.

"If he continues to develop, he could make a living doing this as a defender and a rebounder," said Holy Rams coach Quentin Jackson, a point guard at N.C. State from 1985-88. "Somebody that will do the dirty work. If you look at the NBA, everybody has that one guy that they can rely on to get 12 to 15 rebounds, whether it's Charles Oakley or Dennis Rodman. Joseph has that characteristic about his game."

Uchebo is ranked the No. 8 center in the country by Scout.com among the 2012 freshman class. Jackson said he has averaged about 15 rebounds a game this season so far.

But coming to this country hasn't been easy for Uchebo, 18. His family agreed to send him to the U.S. when he was 16 years old. He has been bounced around to three schools before finding comfort at Word of God in Raleigh.

Uchebo is the youngest of five children, all of whom are tall.

"My sister is 6-2," he said.

He misses them and his parents, keeping in touch with them via Skype. He has an aunt in Durham, his only relative in the area. She is an N.C. State fan, one reason he chose the Wolfpack, on top of being close to her and friends here.

Although he grew up playing soccer, he switched to basketball after getting advice that his height could translate to the professional game.

He said he has long wanted to live in America, and he feels lucky to be here.

"A lot of people try to come here from Nigeria, but they can't," he said. "I have friends that ask me to help them, but they're not tall. They're short. I don't know any way to help them."

Right now, he has just been focused on helping the Holy Rams, which is another in a line of extremely talented Word of God squads with a lot of offensive flash.

"I will go wherever I need to go to get the ball," he said. "I know I can do it."

Jackson said he would like Uchebo to improve offensively, but not at the expense of his defensive game.

"The easy buckets, they'll start to come," Jackson said. "But if Joseph gets strong and keeps that desire to be a defender-rebounder, good things will be in store for him.""

http://www.basketballelite.com/index.php/basketball-recruiting/7-questions-with-tyler-harris/

Quote :
"7 Questions With…Tyler Harris
Dec 31
By Marcus Shockley

NC State head coach Sidney Lowe has proven that he is an adept recruiter, pulling in high profile talent to play in the top notch ACC.

One of Lowe’s recruits this year is Tyler Harris, a versatile wing player with great size (SF, 6’8?, 2011) who had several high major offers before committing to play with the WolfPack. Even at 6’8?, Tyler is a true wing who is adept with the ball, can shoot and has all of the tools to transition to the next level.

Today we offer our 7 Questions with the future ACC player and get his thoughts after commitment and on what he’s working on in his game.

1. What was the biggest factor in your decision to commit to NC State?
The biggest factor on my commit to NC State was the style of play. Being able to fit into NC State style of play I know I could add something to the team to make them better.

2. What do you feel is the strongest part of your game right now?
The strongest part of my game is my shooting. But I have been working on other parts of my game to become more of an all around player. I have been playing the 4 and 5 a lot this year to improve my post game.

3. What part of your game are you working on?
I have been mostly just been getting stronger with my trainer Britton Kelly, working on my inside game and my handle. It has been improving a lot and I will continue to work on it.

4. You’re headed into some serious basketball country,
between NC State, UNC and Duke all within a few miles of each other.
Do you expect to play in Jerry Stackhouse’s summer pro-am (in the area) next summer?
Yes, I think it would be great if I played in it next year. It would be a great opportunity.

5. Are the NC State coaches giving you feedback on your game, and if so,
what are they telling you they want to see?
The coaches tell me that they want me to play the 3 and 4. I am not yet done growing I should be about 6’10 so knowing that the coaches wanted me to play these positions I knew I need to work on my inside game since I can already play the 3.

6. Can you name a current or past player or a coach (at any level)
that you may admire and why you admire them?
Tayshaun Prince, because we both have a lot of similarities in our game.

7. If you could tell people one thing about you that you wish they knew,
what would it be?
I can be a clown a lot. I just like to have fun when I’m with my friends."

Scout says the Harris wants to reclassify as a 2012 recruit. Is that correct?

And if so, will we only have 1 recruit coming in next year?

http://www2.journalnow.com/sports/2011/jan/21/wssport01-fcds-lewis-is-eliminating-doubters-ar-712507/

FCD's Lewis is eliminating doubters

LEWISVILLE -- Over the past two years, Tyler Lewis could have taken it hard when people raised eyebrows, whispered behind his back and generally doubted that he was receiving scholarship offers from Division I basketball coaches.

Lewis, a 5-10 junior point guard at Forsyth Country Day School, committed to N.C. State in the fall. He still has his critics, but he has certainly grown adept at dealing with them.

"Everyone gets hated on sometimes," he said. "If you let that stuff bother you … everyone will have an opinion. You just go out on the court and prove them wrong."

Lewis has grown noticeably stronger in the past year, adding 10 pounds to reach 160 and enough bounce in his step to dunk. And although he's modest, his statistics aren't.

Lewis, the returning starter on an FCD team that he led to the NCISAA 3-A semifinals last season, is averaging 27.4 points, 2.4 steals and 6.9 assists, and the last number that might be higher if his teammates had professional hands.

Not since Chris Paul played the leading role at West Forsyth has a high-school player in Forsyth County hit the bull's-eye with passes from everywhere on the court.

Coach Andy Muse of Mount Tabor said he has seen Lewis play AAU basketball for five years. Lewis scored 34 points against Muse's Spartans in the semifinals of the Frank Spencer Holiday Classic last month. Mount Tabor won 65-63, but Lewis went on to score 104 points in three games, passing Paul to set the Spencer's scoring record.

"I like Tyler's game, and he is a crafty player that knows his limitations and knows his strengths," Muse said. "And the thing that I see when he has other players around him that can play, he can get the ball to players in good positions to score.

"The question everyone has is who is he going to defend and how he will do in the half-court sets. I have seen him on the summer circuit at NBA Players Association camp and at AAU events, and he can definitely play with the big boys."

Craig Dawson, the former standout guard and forward at Wake Forest and now Lewis' coach at FCD, said he would have had no choice but to post up the smaller Lewis had they gone head-to-head in college.

"Archie Miller was at N.C. State when I was at Wake, and he gave us absolute fits with his ability to shoot the basketball and do things," Dawson said. "He wasn't as crafty as a playmaker as Tyler. Size doesn't matter. (Lewis) understands what it takes, and he will keep pushing until he does his very best."

And so Dawson often sounds off to Lewis, who said he balances staying focused on leading FCD with working to patch up any perceived holes in his game.

"Especially during workouts, he will tell me what I can do on defense if they are a little quicker than me, like how to defend them and stay in front," Lewis said. "Stuff like, not really cheat to get a rebound by pushing them, but getting low to a place where the refs can't see it.

"On the defensive end, I want to be able to be a lockdown defender. I want to be the guy who the coach can rely on at the end of the game, not to make an offensive play but a defensive play. I want to be a more consistent outside shooter."

By the end of the Spencer Classic, Lewis' doubters were fewer, although a few hard heads probably remain. Dawson said that Lewis will continue to hear it when he gets to college.

"It is what it is, and it's no fault of his own that he gets that kind of criticism," Dawson said. "You look at him and you can't believe he does what he does. Does he have shortcomings? Of course.

"But he has been proving people wrong all the time, and I have learned never to bet against this kid at all. You just don't do it.""

Update on Tyler Lewis:

Final Stats from Friday night's game

Calvary Baptist: 53
Forsyth Country Day: 82

(Tyler Lewis): 26 points, 8 assists, 4 steals, 4 rebounds

I attended the first half of this game. I was pretty excited to get see Tyler in live action. He was dominant once again. Granted, the competition wasn't nearly to the level athletically of Forsyth Country Day who, in addition to Lewis, has a 6'8" center who is committed to UNC for football (Tyler Alberts). But Lewis looked like a typical college-recruit still stuck in high school that just makes it look easy. He didn't look as small as I thought he would, but I think it will show once he reaches college.

Lewis was a super-confident, floor general that displayed the body language of "I'm going to do whatever I want, and I know that no one will stop me." I only saw 2 turnovers by him the whole time. His demeanor was all-business and focused. He played unselfish and consistently found open teammates on the other side of the court. The scoring attack was pretty balanced – all 12 Forsyth players scored at least two points. Tyler scored so many points because 1) Forsyth ran a full-court press the whole half and forced several turnovers, and 2) he's just gifted with speed, athleticism and basketball skills and just had a quicker step to the basket.

One of the highlights of the first half was when Forsyth was running their offense, Lewis was standing still dribbling at the top of the key waiting for an opening, and suddenly fired a bullet into the lane and the ball smacked his teammate in the forehead! The whole gym went "Ooohh!" and then laughed.

At one point he got hit in the face and had to go out of the game and be seen by a trainer. But he showed toughness and came back out on the court with a bandage near his eye.

Players don't commit to schools, they commit to coaching staffs and play styles and they tend to appreciate consistency.

I can't help but think Lowe's days are numbered and that always tends to cause recruits to veer to other places

It all depends on how this situation is handled. If it is done carefully (and the fans just let the AD do her fucking job) we might be fine. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Lowe is retained and the assistant coaches undergo some massive changes.

^^ It doesn't happen very often but I wouldn't be surprised if she holds on to Lowe one more year while she gets her ducks in a row. You do a shake up of the coaching staff to appease some of the fans and continue lining everything up. A major coaching change is probably a tough thing to do your first year on the job.

If we finish the season with a sub-.500 ACC record then Lowe is gone. Yow will check with a couple big-names, and if there is interest then she'll hire one.

If none of our target big-names want the job then she'll find a solid mid-major coach (Marshall, etc.) and triple his salary. We'll be on an upswing then.

Hiring Lowe was a mistake from the start. People thought it was a great thing for State basketball and that it would reunite the fanbase, but in reality it was a huge gamble that did not pay off. Julius Hodge, Chris Corchiani, and any other former players won't be the next coach. I wanted Lowe to succeed, purchased LTRs, and have cheered on the Pack for each of his 5 years. I've watched enough shit basketball and it's time that State gave me something to cheer for.

This is NC STATE, not UNC-Asheville. If you miss the tournament 3 years in a row here then you should be fired. Lowe missed it four times and got a 5th chance. He has had his opportunity and he has squandered it.

It was actually a last ditch hire because NO ONE wanted the job. He was originally part of the search committee.

If we can't get Barnes, Stevens or another big name, then I won't be excited if a change is made. We are going up year in and year out against two of the giants of college basketball, and we need a coach that can go toe-to-toe with them, keep the current players here and also keep the 4 and 5 star recruits coming in. If we can compete against K and Roy year in and year out, then we'll have a team that is capable of winning the ACC and winning a National Championship.

I didn't say that. I just said I wouldn't be excited. I wouldn't have any hope that things will get better, well at least to where we all want them to be, and that's winning championships and becoming one of the elites of college basketball again.
