Here are a few from today, the first time I shot with my new lens...none of which I like very much, but I wanted to get some practice in.this one is a little darker than I wanted, but it was pretty overcast and I took it mid-stride
6/29/2006 1:32:21 AM
^haha, funny dogwhats this new lens you got?-ZiP!-
6/29/2006 1:36:44 AM
got this baby yesterday: http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/lenses_all_details.asp?id=3302&navigator=6I was unsure about it at first, but shot around with it in the camera store for awhile and had to get it. I think I love it...not to mention the fact that I had been using the kit lens from a film Rebel Ti for the past month.
6/29/2006 1:43:45 AM
I got some good pictures in DC...Dunno when I'll get around to posting them though...maybe tonight
6/29/2006 10:14:21 AM
does anyone know if Southeastern Photo in Cary would have a 50mm f/1.8? I remember the last time I was in there they had a bunch of lenses. I'll give them a call at lunch time.Is there any other local places that would carry that lens?
6/29/2006 11:08:06 AM
i would imagine so... its a popular lense.
6/29/2006 11:25:28 AM

6/29/2006 12:29:17 PM

That pic is one of my favorites, Ronny. Actually, ALL of the Warped Tour shots are pretty damn good. I could see a lot of them used on those bands' webpages, in their gallery area. The AFI shots are really good.^Bigger like this? Or bigger like a higher resolution?]
6/29/2006 6:30:20 PM
hey chocolatervh --my answer to your question about a contest:"i might be up for it."i wanna try to enter some at some point that could actually make it onto a resume.im not sure that TWW counts -ZiP!-

Playing around with the tools is the best way to get started, lol. When I was young I'd just go through the help tutorials and try using the tools in their topics.
7/1/2006 7:52:50 AM
Gosh I wish I had a nice camera...the difference in clarity between my camera and some of your super high quality cams is amazing!!! But alas, my broke self will have to make do with what I've got. Here's a little frog that I found this morning on my plants:

to get everyone in the mood, some shots from the 2004 and 2005 firework shows in Nags Head.
7/1/2006 4:11:02 PM
^^cool, nice symmetry ^nice man, can you tell me the best way you found to shoot those? what kinda lens + settings did you find yourself using?-ZiP!-
7/1/2006 4:28:45 PM
the first 4 are with the d70, kit lens at 18mm (i parked too close), f5.6 mostly but could have/should have used f8 or f11, ISO 200, set the shutter to bulb and hold it down from when the shell is launched until you want to stop the exposure. the last ones were with a nikon coolpix 5700, 100 iso, 2-8" exposure, f4 to f8. basically i adjusted settings a lot and shot a lot, 200-300 shots each year, then edited out the bad ones and the rediculously bad ones.this year I plan to get a little farther away and be able to use something like the 50mm f1.8 @ f8, give a cleaner perspective. Those are beautiful shots, I'm looking forward to more.
7/1/2006 7:12:33 PM
ah - thanks a bunch for the explanation - shooting on bulb is a great idea for it - and with 200 ISO you won't get any annoying noise i imagine - i'll have to test out your instructions on the 4th hopefully-ZiP!-
7/1/2006 10:36:10 PM
7/1/2006 10:50:41 PM
