Man, apparently most of the WalMarts around here aren't 24 hour...judging by what I see from the WalMart search page...Anyone know if some of the non-24 hour ones are doing the midnight thing?

Just so everyone knows, I called the three 24/7 walmarts in raleigh and they all said they only had 20 units, and there were already lines outside. Just FYI.

didn't say, but they have 20 of them

This is what, I've learned in the last twenty minutes:

WalMart, Cary, Kildaire Farm Rd. - selling at 6 am, unknown quantity
Target, Cary - Selling at 8 am, giving out tickets to people in line at 7 am that are good for two hours, unknown quantity
WalMart, Raleigh, Glennwood - selling at midnight, 20 available
WalMart Supercenter, Raleigh - sold out via rainchecks
WalMart, Sanford - selling at midnight, 20 available
Best Buy, Durham - first come, first serve, opens at 9 am
Best Buy, Cary - gives out tickets at 8 am, sells at 9 am, 84 in store
ToysRUs, Cary - will have extra consoles at 10 am
Circuit City, Cary - selling at 10 am, hands out tickets at 8 am, 24 in stock

[Edited on November 18, 2006 at 4:39 PM. Reason : every store selling at midnight already has a line]

some of those posts are not completely true..

i called some of the local wal-marts and they told me they have more than 20 and there is not a line forming yet.

toys r us in cary told me 2 hours ago that they were sold out...

so i guess people don't know wtf they are talking about that work there

well that's what i was told over the phone, obviously I can't physically confirm every detail myself. And a lot of the people I spoke to weren't actual electronic personnel, so their information might not be accurate.

Guy at ToyRUs said they had 30 preordered, but he has been told there "is some excess that [they] will be putting on [their] shelves."

i just called every wal-mart within a 20 mile radius, including clayton and fuquay. they already have a line formed, which contains as many people as they have wiis. so that equals=sold out already.

I called Best Buy and talked to a woman who said they were opening at 10AM first come first serve. She said she didn' tknow how many they had.

So I called the same Best Buy again and she answered again. I told her to direct my call to electronics. She came back on the line. I told her to direct my call to appliances. Some guy answered the phone and I told him to direct my call to software. The whole point of this fiasco was to talk to someone other than the lady. Then another lady ( i could tell she was different by a varying inflection in her tone) answered the phone and I inquired. She said they were opening an hour early with a ticket process.
I then asked about the quantity of her Wii supply. She generously stated that she could not give me an exact amount but she had a larger Wii supply than PS3 supply. She told me the earlier I got to the store, the better chance I would have. To which I replied.

Just got off the phone with the Wal-Mart on Glenwood. They said that they had enough people in line to take up their supply of Wii's. So take the Walmart on Glenwood of the list of places to go

The Target at Walnut Street already has people camping out as well

Ugh, I was hoping to catch a midnight sale so I wouldn't have to get up early. Sounds like Best Buy in Cary is my best chance. Could be fun to wait in line if I can get some wireless DS play going.

For the 360 last year they had more tickets than people in line at 7am. Some people in the front of the line went to the back again and got 2nd tickets.

Take that for what it's worth.

^ same here, cary should have enough Wiis at Best Buy to cover most people like us. No mom or pops are going to be there to get one for xmas, so i cant imagne them being sold out everywhere by tomorrow morning.

Most Targets have 24 Wiis and the one on Cap has 30.

Just spent two and a half hours driving to/calling WalMarts. Lines at all of them, and let me tell you, some of the people in those lines are all kinds of creepy. I would not want to sit there for 5 hours sitting beside them. Target in Cary already has a pretty hefty line outside (as of 7pm). At least, though, I was able to pick up the last copy of Red Steel and another controller at Best Buy.

Good luck to everyone trying to get one...

And we called all the WalMarts in a 100 mile radius too. No joke!!

my brothers and their friend are at the walmart in hillsborough (24-hour)...they said they have 20 units, and the 20-person limit was reached at about 5 this afternoon...looks like they'll be bringing one back, though

also, is the wii scheduled to come out in any color other than white? i'm not a huge fan of the white...i could google this, but i don't feel like it

I called Best Buy in Cary and they are giving away tickets at 8AM. They are opening at 9AM to distribute their Wiis.

The guy said they had 84 in stock and there were only a couple people in line so far. He said as long as you showed up before 8, you could definitely get one.

Man this is sooo crazy. I just went to the Target in Durham and there was 2 guys outside already waiting for Wiis. I was grocery shopping so I went inside. Just to see what the deal was I went over to the Electronic section to see how many they had. I asked the guy working over there, but he didn't seem to know how many they had. I asked if he could go to the back and see how many they had. To my surprise he actually came out with a box in his hand. He said they had like 20 or so in the back. I thought he was just gonna take it back to the back but he said "so did you want to get this one" and I was like uhhhh...yeah. I couldn't believe it, but he actually rang it up and sold it to me. So I went outside as fast as I could but I guess someone inside saw me buying it because when I got out to my car these two big dudes came up behind me and started yelling and shit. They said they wanted to buy it from me, but I said no thanks. Then one of them tackled me and grabbed my bag. I got up and tried to chase him but he jumped in an SUV and sped off. I didn't know what to do so I whistled for a cab and when it came near the licence plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare, but I thought, nah, forget it, yo holmes to bel-air. I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8 and I yelled to the cabbie, yo holmes, smell ya later. I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there. To sit on my throne as the prince of bel-air. But I still wish I had a wii early. I guess I'll have to go back out there tomorrow morning and wait in line just like everyone else.

with that said, I think I'm going to hit up target in the morning around 6. if the line is long, I'll go to IHOP and get some pancakes. Win, win either way
