yeah i know that that wasn't the only place he coached. he was there for quite some time though. something like 8-9 years, which is rare for many professional sports today. plus he brought back to back Stanley Cups to the Red Wings, and a four peat 76-79 for the Canadiens. i was mainly trying to say, that it'd be good if he turned out to be a great coach, and we kept him around for at least close to a decade. i'm afraid though still that some other franchise might up and snag him away from us sometime in the near future. i'd love to have a coach that stays around, and could bring in a string of championships. it'd really do something for hockey in this area.

also as mentioned above this, most people do associate Scotty Bowman with his phenomenal Detroit teams that brought the cup back to Hockeytown.

Apparantly to ESPN, a lot has changed since game 1. The highlights for game 1 led off the show. For Game 2 they show 1 goal, tell the score, and then say that melrose will talk about it later. All after baseball and balco crap.

damn i should have brought up my canes hat and my old whalers hat to Raleigh. i won the whalers hat in a raffle. i used to sport all the time. it was those old kind of hats with the script writing out of the team name. it was green and similar to this one, but not corduroy.



i at least have a couple of my Canes shirts here. i think i'll wear my black CCM one the day we win.

Its amazing how many people call in bashing Raleigh and how all the fans are bandwagon riders and all this nonsense. I may send them the link to all the Canes Threads from the reg. season and playoffs just to prove that their is a nucleus of us diehard fans and Raleigh, not charlotte, deserves this team and deserves the cup

Man, OUR generation thinks of Bowman with the Red Wings, but he had already won stanley cups with two other teams. His Canadien team (I forget the year) is said to be one of the best teams ever. (They rolled with 3 defenseman).

^^yeah really. My parents live here(charlotte) and i grew up here. Played hockey and have followed it all my life. That aside...

My dad follows pretty close too, and up until game 1 the canes never got any love in the Charlotte Observer. It was like State's rifle team in the Technician. It was pathetic. Now its daily front pages. I love North Carolina and i root for all the teams here (unless they are playing us) but Charlotte media really gets on my nerves.
