i hope and pray we dont start Glennon next year. we really need to redshirt the kid so our OL can have one more year in TOB's system.
they always say that starting a true freshman at QB means there was terrible recruiting before the bad thing is, is that i think we do fit this category. our hands maybe tied unless one of the other guys on the squad can really step up and take the helm. 1/4/2008 4:13:24 PM |

I think Beck is the only one to start over Glennon. Beck's got the arm, and if he gets his shit together he could be decent. I wouldn't be surpised to see him start the USC game, and Glennon take over after the first few games. 1/4/2008 6:40:48 PM |

I'm not sure he'll ever make that leap, based on what we've seen so far...
but the position will, of course, be open again going into spring practice. I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson gets a chance in the fall (but TOB has made it pretty clear that that will only happen if he's able to work all of spring football around baseball). I really don't think Glennon plays any next year.1/4/2008 6:59:08 PM |

Glennon has a great arm from looking at the competition.......we will see how he plays tomorrow. He is starting QB for the Red team. Barnes will be returning kicks for the silver team. Walker is also announcing tmrw by the way.
Russell Wilson may be the dark horse to start next year. Evans isnt going to get any better he maxed out when he was prolly in 11th grade. Beck has the talent but doesn't know how to read defenses and doesn't have much touch. The insiders seem to think Wilson has a chance and has a great arm and is mobile.
However y do i get the feeling Evans is going to start next year 1/4/2008 7:25:26 PM |

That's what we've been hearing since he got here...and certainly it's great if it's true, but TOB seemed to make it pretty clear that if Wilson wants to be the starter then he has to attend every spring practice.
That's going to be a tough choice considering that his pro prospects are much better in baseball.1/4/2008 7:28:35 PM |

^true.............i think Walker is a lock to PSU. I think he told rivals he was picking between Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas Tech, and USC. He's not going to USC or Texas Tech. He doesnt like Notre Dame that much and PSU has been the leader for a while. Maybe he is just building the suspense but i dont think he's picking us. Hopefully we can get him on an official visit for him b/4 signing day.
I just got a bad feeling we are going to whiff on the majority of our prospects left but we already have a descent class.
Best Chances.........Sterling Lucas (going to South Car. if he gets an offer) Leon Mackey (just a gut feeling he's not coming here but hopefully not going to UNC)
Will prolly miss on Coples, Floyd, Cooper, McRae, Mattes, Valentine, Deion Walker, EJ (unc)
However like always new names will prolly pop up (sleepers or JC players) and we will get a few commitments from them. I would love to get Udell but it doesn't look like we are on him hard anymore. 1/4/2008 7:41:37 PM |

the only good note i can put walker not selecting us on: We have some good, young WR's.
Bowens-stud Spencer-showed some great hands last year and some leaping ability Darrell Davis-caught his first td last year Jarvis Williams-big and physical Jay Smith-4* outta HS....same size/speed as Walker. Steven Howard-3* outta HS. We'll see what he can do.
Out of those, Bowens is the oldest as a JR. The rest are Soph/Fr. Then you add in TJ Graham who will be a FR 1/4/2008 7:58:36 PM |

i'd like for us to land a few more DL though b/c besides Linney and Burgess we don't have anyone. Mackey and Schrugs would be awesome but i don't see us getting both if either. Heard possitive things about current freshman J.R. Sweezy though. 1/4/2008 8:18:25 PM |

mmmm..... so good
now if only we could find a qb to throw it to them...
Plz to seize the starting job beck, wilson, or glennon. Needs less noodle arm and less qb by committee. 1/7/2008 8:42:40 PM |

It is way early, but Russell Wilson has a great shot to be our QB if he doesn't miss any practices bc of baseball. TOB told him he has to come to all of them if he wants a shot. With that said, Glennon would benefit from a redshirt but we may be forced to throw him in there. 1/8/2008 12:23:32 PM |

^no way we put in Glennon this year. We need to build up a decent offensive line and develop a good WR corps this offseason and during next season so he won't get KILLT when he does get on the field 1/8/2008 2:28:12 PM |

Had Glennon come this semester, I believe he would be starting next year, but he didn't enroll, so he won't be starting, and that's probably a good thing.
I really don't know that Russell will give up baseball for a year or two at QB. From what I've read his best shot at the next level is going to be in baseball and I don't know how long he'd be able to keep Glennon on the bench after he's red-shirted. Since I'm sure Russell got his red-shirt for last year, he has 4 years to play. He'll be a SO(RS) Glennon's FR(RS) year and Russell would have had to put together one heck of a first year to keep Glennon on the sidelines. Glennon is basically TOB's hand-picked QB of the future.
I just don't see Russell making every Spring practice so I think you might see Evans or Beck fighting to start in the Spring and Russell taking over somewhere in the middle of the season. 1/8/2008 2:39:47 PM |

if he was such a good freshmen and we sucked it up at QB why not play him?
you dont think him being a freshman makes him any less likely to start do you?
so youre saying JUST BECAUSE he is a freshmen is why he was benched and like #4 on the list?
i know he got redshirted and i know he was a freshmen, but hes also not EVER been mentioned by TOB as being a potential starter, and until you can show me a quote from him saying that he MAY be considered, i wont believe it.
OMG HES A FRESHMEN WITH POTENTIAL TO BE GREAT OVER OUR TERRIBLE QBS NOW LETS BENCH HIM! 1/8/2008 4:29:10 PM |

a few notes ........Glennon has moved up to the #32 player in the country and #3 QB by espn.com (still waiting for him to be a 5 star by one recruiting service.
State is recruiting this big boy. He is a JC DT and looking at his body type it looks like if he commits to us then he will redshirt to change his body fat into some muscle. He is visiting us and Nevada and i'm guessing he will select us
