Considering that in 27 years of coaching Larry Brown has NEVER had back-to-back losing seasons with any team he coached, somehow I doubt we're looking at 30-win seasons over the next 2 years. 4/29/2008 1:31:01 AM |

Old content, but from Bill Simmons' links column:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/links/080429
Quote : | "A day after Charlotte's largest employer, Wachovia Corporation, announced troubling first-quarter earnings and ensuing layoffs, Bobcats owner and all-around (expletive) Bob Johnson had the unmitigated GALL to slam the Charlotte business community for not backing his failing franchise. http://www.charlotte.com/opinion/story/582788.html Are you freakin' kidding me!?!? This clown can't do his job, so he decides to contact the newspaper himself to blame everyone else (that's right, he called them). If I saw him or his invisible partner Michael "Isiah in Training" Jordan on the streets of Charlotte I'd punch them in the back of their arrogant heads, but hey, I don't have to worry about breaking the law, since they ARE NEVER HERE. Luckily local writer Tom Sorenson put Charlotteans' justified anger nicely into words with his commentary on the situtation. http://www.charlotte.com/307/story/582830.html Hey Seattle, you guys need a team? Make an offer! --Scott, Charlotte" |

I dunno...SUPPOSEDLY since Brown is 67 years old, he envisions himself retiring here...that the last 2 years of being out of the game made him miss it...also his 102 year old mom lives in Charlotte
I'm not keeping my fingers crossed but it might work out 4/30/2008 4:10:33 PM |

the good thing about brown is he brings instant credibility...there's little doubt he'll turn the team around in either 1 or 2 years. even if he retires or bolts for greener pasture, we'll be a better team afterward. it may not be the long term solution, but its a definite improvement from where we've been since inception. 4/30/2008 5:13:52 PM |

^^Beasley would help this team out more than Rose. I swear, I'm not completely sold on that guy. I think his lack of a consistent jump shot is really going to hurt him in the pros.
That being said, I don't think the Bobcats have much of a chance at landing one of the top two picks. Hopefully Lopez will be there when they pick. This team needs some depth down low. 4/30/2008 6:04:17 PM |

While I agree that the 'Cats need a solid 4/5 guy, Beasley is not that guy, imo. Hopefully we can get someone in free agency.
As far as Rose's jumper...that can be tweaked/overhauled. Look at guys like Tony Parker. TP is a pretty badass player even w/o a consistent jumper. 4/30/2008 7:48:22 PM |

Well they don't need anymore shooters/slashers or any more PGs (although I wouldn't mind Augustine). They need a big man, and unless they trade up for Lopez, Love is the best one left. Hopefully it'll force them to part ways with May.
Some will be yelling for Jordan from Texas A&M, but having seen him play, he's got a LONG way to go. Love absolutely abused him in the tournament as well. 5/20/2008 10:55:27 PM |

Dammit another year when we COULD have gotten a Derrick Rose or O.J. Mayo but instead we will have to settle for gasp Ty Lawson or a Russell Westbrook knowing our team.
[Edited on May 21, 2008 at 1:20 AM. Reason : NBAdraft.net has us taking Darrell Arthur at 9 and Courtney Lee at 38] 5/21/2008 1:19:27 AM |

No way they pick Lawson at #9 -- possibly Westbrook, but we don't really need another wing.
Those wanting a true center, who would you recommend at the 9 spot? Unless we trade up, Lopez won't be an option (the good one at least). Jordan is as raw as they come. I don't see what's wrong with leaving Okafor at C and bringing in a skilled PF.
Also, I like Felton, but the chance to get Augustin might be too great to pass up. 5/21/2008 11:05:47 AM |

HA! you obviously don't remember the huge reachmistake the 'Cats made by taking May @ #13 in 2005.

When they picked May, he had just been named the MVP of the NCAA tournament by absolutely dominating anyone he matched up with. Believe it or not, most experts had him pegged in the middle of the first round, some in the top 10 picks. While I didn't like the pick, I wouldn't call it a reach.
Calling it a mistake now is easy. Hindsight 20/20. 5/21/2008 6:53:30 PM |
