i hate answering all incoming calls while working at a state of nc office

mainly because the majority of the time people are at conferences, meetings, out of the office, or just plain dont answer the phone

I've long stopped caring when people are in. I take a message, transfer to voicemail, or tell you to have a good day. It's not my job to keep track of this whole department, and frankly, there's no way in hell that I could.

When they hire someone new and don't tell anyone that he's starting. Then tell the person to get here at a time where no one in the department will actually be in to greet them, and then not tell the admin (me) or the IT person where they will be sitting. Poor guy is just chillin in the conference room waiting.

I guess my annoyance is lack of communication.

it's a personal preference, but I could care less when getting a call that the receptionist tells me "so and so is on line 1." Just send me the call...hell not knowing who it is makes it a bit more exciting. "Oooh I got a call! I wonder who it could be!"


Plus, it means I have to interact with the receptionist less...which I believe I've already said I'm not too fond of in here.

Well I'm almost done making about 100 copies of a 53 page booklet if that makes you feel better.

We also send out huuuuge reports (like 4 copies of about 800 pages a piece) to the FDA once we've finished a study, and usually I'm the one that has to sit there and stare at the printer to make sure nothing gets interrupted while they're printing out.

so basically there are admins or business people who's most consuming program being ran was powerpoint on systems bulkier than mine where im trying to run visual studio, lotus, and 3-5 remote connections.. all the time.

alas, i probably broke the rules and put in the memory on my own volition just to not have to deal with it for the remaining like 10 months on the lease. basically i got fed up with it and just broke down and bought it myself.
