^Okay that would make more sense then, I was just a little confused.

And the whole time travel thing, I just don't really get the feeling that all of the Oceanic 6 would travel through time.

i think the oceanic 6 is generally not time traveling. Obviously Desmond has, and Ben can apparently travel through time and space at will. Several of The Others could too, like Tom, when he went to Florida to get Locke's dad.

I still think that Michael did some kind of space warp to get from the island to NYC, in time for him to get contacted and get back to the freighter.

Does anyone remember what the newspaper said in the flashfoward last night, at the beginning when Jack went downstairs? I thought it said "Yankees sweep Red Sox in Series". I thought that was supposed to give us a clue of when that was taking place, but the Yankees and Red Sox haven't played, at least not in the World Series since then. Maybe it was a regular-season series? Given Aaron's age, it must be sometime in 2006 or 2007.

ok, did some digging. According to http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Something_Nice_Back_Home#Flashforward
the newspaper said:
Quote :
"He then picks up the newspaper sports page which features a story about the Yankees sweeping the Red Sox, causing him to scoff, "A-Rod"."

That's not a world series, just a series of games that the Yankees won.

Looking at the red sox schedule for the past couple years, they have only been swept twice by the yankees. In 2006, they lost a 5-game series from Aug 18-21
http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BOS/2006_sched.shtml

and in 2007 they lost a 3-game series from Aug 28-30
http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BOS/2007_sched.shtml

Aaron was born in ~October 2004, so in last night's flash forward he was either almost 2 or almost 3. I'm guessing he was almost 3 from the looks of him, putting that flashforward in summer 2007. I've forgotten the timeline of other flashforwards, but I think this is still all lining up so that the series will eventually catch up to real-time and may end on the day the final episode airs or something

http://lost.cubit.net/archives/2008/05/4x10-newspaper-and-date.php
that article says it's referring to the games in August '07 - almost 3 years after the crash and 2 after Ben's stuff from last week.
I'd say that pretty well implies that jack's 'we have to go back' breakdown happens in our own near future, say mid-to-late '08.

Okay so in terms of chronological order of the flash forwards, we have:

1) Ben going to Tunisia and Iraq and "recruiting" Sayid
2) Hurley seeing Charley and beginning his descent into what everyone thinks is insanity
3) Kate's trial
4) Last night's episode
5) Big time gap, Kate and Jack are broken up and Jack is a junkie

and somewhere in there was the episode when Sayid was in Germany and got shot, but I don't think we had any real clues as to what the date was then.

that looks right, except you missed:
0) Sun gives birth and Hurley visits Korea

i just found the timeline section on lostpedia. It has tried to place all the flashfowards into real timeframes

http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Timelineost-Island

all the actions from "through the looking glass" (when jack is a junkie and him and kate are broken up, and someone is dead) is in the "Unknown" category, but it obviously happens after last night's episode

[Edited on May 2, 2008 at 11:19 AM. Reason : .]

dammit, the link keeps putting a f'ing smiley face in the middle because of the URL
just go here - http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Timeline - then go to the Post-Island timeline

the problem is crazycode automatically interprets the characters : and P as a smiley face. That is why the smiley face is appearing.

FYI its impossible for the Yankees to play the Red Sox in the World Series. They're both in the American League.

^^^^^ It was probably referring to one of the other playoff series, not the world series. The writers wouldnt make a goof like that.

we covered that - it said "series", lower-cased S, referring to a regular season series.

I read somewhere where they looked at the other box-scores on the top half of the paper and beneath the red sox/yankees article, and none of the other score match up with a yankees/red sox series sweep, so there is either some purposeful misdirection, or the writers/prop-guys weren't really trying to be fully accurate. But I think it's generally agreed that the yankees/red sox sweep was from the series at the end of August 2007

edit - here we go
http://lost-and-gone-forever.blogspot.com/2008/05/something-nice-back-home-analysis.html
Quote :
"By virtue of the Yankees/Red Sox and Indians/Mariners scores in the newspaper article, only one date is viable for the publication of the paper: August 31, 2007. Article states Yankees finish their sweep of the Red Sox with winning pitcher Chien-Ming Wang beating Curt Schilling 5-0. The only occurrence of this game is the date above.

However, the newspaper also lists "Angels 8 - Astros 4" but the Astros were playing the St. Louis Cardinals over these dates. As such, the newspaper most likely isn't able to indicate the correct date.

The Angels-Astros result is from June 20, 2007. The Angels are in the American league, and the Astros play in the National. This was an inter-league game, and the first time these two teams had played against each other since 2004. The box-score is accurate.

The other side of the fold of the newspaper has an article with the headline "Dodgers 8-4 win over Astros" which conflicts with the Angels-Astros box score on the opposite side of the fold.

also i think it was interesting that the doctor washed up on shore at the beach before he actually got his throat slit back on the boat

shows there is definitely some type of time delay (we already knew that, though)

and what about richard? He looked the same when locke was in the incubator...something creepy about that guy, he doesn't age or something....

If it was the smoke monster, why would it appear to locke as Jack's dad? Does locke have some kind of connection to Jack's dad that we dont know about yet?

We were already shown several times that he doesn't age, or has the ability to time jump or something. He has looked the same in all the episodes he has been in, most notably the one where he meets Ben as a child for the first time.

My guess on moving the island is that they are going to shift the "magnetic" field around it, so it requires a different position/bearing to approach/leave the island.

i don't know how it would help, but it might help explain the doctor thing.....
On the island, the doctor washes up on shore with a slit throat and stitches on his cheek. They radio the boat, and the boat says the Dr. is ok. Then later that day, they kill the doctor and throw him overboard.... It's like the island shifted into the future or something, but they are still communicating in real time with the boat

we already know that if they don't enter and leave the island at a certain bearing there is a difference in time... do we not?

The doctor drifted in.. I seriously doubt he drifted in on the exact bearing. That easily explains the difference in time.

On a different note: Does anyone think it's possible that Claire died in her sleep somehow? She was in that big ass explosion that demolished the house but left her seemingly unscathed, maybe she was injured internally?

That could be why Christian came and got her? The asian guy sees dead people so that would explain how he saw her walk away with Christian. We believe Christian is dead (don't know if that has ever really been confirmed)... and up to this point I don't think Claire has seen dead people or any other odd things. We also know that for some reason she doesn't leave the island with Aaron... which she probably wouldn't do by choice. Also, her demeanor in the cabin was different than normal.

So her ghost carried Aaron all the way to where they made camp and passed out for the night? That's the only hole in that idea.
