We need Favors or Kelly (I'd prefer Favors at this point b/c of the publicity the program would receive which would be good for recruiting in the future) so that we can have a class that we can call either the Fantastic Four or even the Four Pack (play on our name, plus it'll be rare that we'll ever have a 6 man class that we can call the Six Pack )

Yeah it was posted in the College Basketball 2008-2009 thread.

Hopefully Degand will keep his speed but be stronger this year having added weight.

I haven't ever played on the same team with him, but I always tell him I'll get him the ball [at NC State]. We just have to go get Derrick.""

Word is we need either. You fly to South America, compete in the U-18 games, then fly to Vegas and play in another Tourney there and see if you'll be playing close to even 85%.

I'd definitely take either, but Kelly seems to be a guy that would stick around longer than Favors.

yeah i'll take either. they would both be better for the long term in their own ways...kelly because he would stick around. favors because he would put us on the map and make a bigger impact in the news/recruiting outlets/etc.

Kelly strikes me as Herb Sendek's wet dream, a lanky white boy that can shoot the 3 and has trouble defending/banging in the post and needs to fill out his frame...not sure how sold on him we should be

lol it's funny over there too when someone gets them going. it's not like tww where people are just like "fuck you ya dumb fucking shit. here's why you're a stupid fuck:......."

over there dudes are like "well sir i respect your opinion and your intelligence but i find myself in strong opposition to your thoughts and concerns"

and usually if two people really start going at it, one of them usually ends up apologizing in the thread.

those guys are so so naive, it's unreal. you say something that's not even bad, but just fact (in this case that unc is rated higher as a university) and they don't want to hear any of it. like if they don't talk about it it's not true.

tdub sports talk is head and shoulders ahead of pp premium boards, both in knowledge and level of conversation.

which?

someone made a comment that we'd lose ryan kelly to a better academic school, b/c we stick out on his list of schools as the lowest academically and some dude's like 'oh no you're wrong, look at this quote from kelly saying that all the schools recruiting him have great academics'.

fucking guys over there don't know how to take things. i bring up that unc has a better reputation than we do and people flip shit. i didn't say anything at all out of line, and i wasn't even trying to troll, i'm just being objective about recruiting.

The Georgia big man wasn't quite as dominating throughout his time in Las Vegas as many expected, but he still produced on both ends of the court. im glad this has been listed now...i really hope LO Brown can get in his ear

Quote :
"Howell picks Wolfpack and ACC
North Carolina State has snared ESPN 100 forward Richard Howell, ranked No. 60 overall in the class of 2009. Among many others were Oregon, Texas, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Marquette and Michigan State. Howell joins ESPN 100 guard Lorenzo Brown and guard Scott Wood as verbal commitments for the Wolfpack.

ESPN.com's recruiting director Bob Gibbons comments on N.C. State's recent good fortune.

"It is absolutely amazing how ACC teams are getting back-to-back commitments from ESPN 100 prospects," said Gibbons. "With Monday's commitment from Howell, head coach Sidney Lowe and his hardworking staff have snared two prime prospects in two days from the talent-rich state of Georgia." Howell's commitment came just a day after Brown's announcement.

Gibbons recently saw both players in spring events. "Howell and Brown played on the same Worldwide Renegades team in my Tournament of Champions in May, and both made the All-Tournament Team," Gibbons said. "In June they were outstanding at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, and Howell was rated one of the four best power forwards in that event. We rated him the best power forward at the Reebok All-American Camp in July."

Gibbons also compares Howell to another Wheeler, Ga. native. "Howell plays for the same travel team, the Atlanta-based Worldwide Renegades, as did former N.C. State standout and NBA first round draft pick, J. J.Hickson," said Gibbons. "And, in my opinion, Howell could have just as much impact for the Wolfpack as did Hickson. He is not as tall as J.J., but Howell is much more versatile, athletic, and can even play as a wing forward despite his size and muscular physique. I rate Howell right there with Hickson as the two best recruits that Coach Lowe has brought to N.C. State, and I project him as an immediate starter next year."

Howell spoke with ESPN.com and felt the Raleigh was the right spot. "My mother and members of my family live in Raleigh, and I just felt that it was the right place for me," Howell said. "I really have a great relationship with Coach Lowe and Coach (Larry) Harris, and believe that I will have a very successful experience both in basketball and in the classroom at N.C. State."

ok i realize you're trolling me, but here's what he said, and my response:

Quote :
"DavieWolf83 wrote: I don't know about the Wear rumor, but I think the likelihood of Ryan picking UNC-CH is high (I personally think greater than a 70% chance) and much higher than the chance he selects NC State. Coach Lowe is really trying hard here and I can not fault his effort. I think the academic reputation of the school will carry a lot more weight with Ryan than it does with 90% of the average top-50 players. This is where NC State is at a disadvantage to the other schools and is something Coach Lowe can not change.

funny. I heard Ryan say himself on a radio interview that the academics of the schools recruiting him are all very good so that would not be a determining factor in where he goes. but then, what does he know."

Quote :
"^ it's not like the kid's going to come out and say 'the academics of all the schools recruiting me, except nc state, are really good'.

You aren't allowed to post things that other people had posted, which you did.

Your post was nothing more than a pot shot at NC State. We know we aren't on the same level as Carolina, but at the same time we aren't some shitty school either, which you implied in your post. We do, contrary to your own opinion, have a good academic standing.

No shit we aren't on that level. But at the same time, that does not mean that every student who says academics is looking to go to the number 1 university. The point still stands, while we may not be the number 1 academic university in this country we aren't a boat full of idiots. Well maybe you are an idiot, but that doesn't mean the university and its academic standards are shit either.

^^considering the academic standing of the ACC that isn't bad. I would put us above Clemson though.

^^^Yet, being number 9 on that list doesn't make us a poor school academically.

And it doesn't matter how we rank on the US News and World Report when it comes to him making a decision. Stating academics is your reason to attend school is the same as saying tradition. It all boils down to what someone is looking at particularly. If based strictly on the overall academic tradition of the school, then he would have already made up his mind and chose Vanderbilt, but he didn't.

Again, you are just a fucking troll.

What is the most popular major for Athletes at NCSU anyways? I'm guessing something in CHASS like world history-is there really THAT big of a difference among universities nationwide? I guess it could be something like Parks/Rec or Sports Management as well.

It makes sense that a good portion of student athletes would major in PRT. Most Division I athletes are hardcore competitors that live and breath their sport, which is one reason why they stood out among their peers also playing the sport and were recruited by a DI school. Their sheer love of the sport and determination made them better. So if their biggest interest is in sports and they love them enough that they see a future for themselves in sports then it's a no brainer that they'd choose to major in sports management. With the sports management degree they could go on to be a coach, manage an athletic facilty, manage an athletic department/team, or a number of companies involved in the sporting world. Then with the communications degree a number of athletes see themselves as being good conversationalist and might want to be a sports anchor or work in the sports department of a news station. It especially makes sense for someone that has potential to make it in the pros to major in communications considering that it doesn't take much to get an anchor job after you retire. Just look at Emmitt Smith.
