Well, not really, but I was hoping we could keep it close.

UConn can beat UNC. There. I said it.

There aren't but a handful of teams that can go out to Seattle with that crowd and beat Gonzaga. Let alone with NO help from their best player (who was in foul trouble all game) and with one of their top 3 players from last year only playing his 2nd game of the year.

Give me a neutral court, neutral refs (like we see in the NCAAs) and a UConn-UNC matchup and it can be done...

Tech’s Vassallo, Tucker charged with shoplifting

Published: December 23, 2008

Virginia Tech basketball standout A.D. Vassallo and ex-Hokie Chris Tucker were arrested and charged with shoplifting by Virginia State Police on Thursday in Christiansburg, two days before Vassallo played in the Hokies' win over Columbia.

Athletic director Jim Weaver said yesterday that Vassallo was not suspended from playing in the team's two games last weekend because he has not yet seen a police report. Another reason, said Weaver, is that he does not believe the senior forward did anything wrong.

Vassallo, the Hokies' leading scorer, and Tucker were arrested by Trooper G.A. Syres at 1:54 a.m. Thursday at a Stop-in Food Stores convenience store in Christiansburg, police said.

Both have been charged with petit larceny shoplifting, a misdemeanor involving an item worth less than $200. The item was a 12-pack of Dr. Pepper soda, police said. The trooper was in the store at the time of the incident, police said.

Vassallo, an All-ACC second-team pick last season, is averaging a team-high 19.3 points for the Hokies this season. Vassallo and Tucker, a Lord Botetourt graduate who was a senior reserve on the 2006-07 Hokies, are due to appear in Montgomery County General District Court on Feb. 11.

Rivalry game between Mizzou and Illinois on ESPN2 from St. Louis. Should be a good game based on history.

Also on tonight is Butler @ Xavier. Why the hell did Xavier change their court? It looks terrible without the paint in the lanes and ringing the court. Is Sean Miller trying to be more like Herb with that court design?

Old Xavier court design:

that young coach of theirs will be a major conference hire in the next few years

Yeah they are a pretty young team too. Brad Stevens is pretty young at 32 and could end up being one of the best in college basketball in a few years. He's from Indiana, so the Big Ten schools that end up looking for a new coach in a few years may come calling.

Shouldn't the RPI be about connected?

And, if so, ours is pitiful and might cost us a NCAAT bid should we go 8-8. We are 175 right now.

We have one of the worst ooc SOS in all of the Power 6 conferences and really in all of college bball.

Our SOS is 317 out of 341. And we play fucking NCCU (RPI #337) in February. Why? That is just dumb scheduling.

It really sucks that we didnt win those two games against ranked opponents even though they were well within our grasp. The college basketball season is short, and you can't afford to drop games like those with our SOS. The risks we made during those games were not worth it.

I'll add that either davidson and marquette are not as good as their ranking, or we are better than people think. Probably the former

Not counting the cheerleaders, who are required to be there, GT only has 6 students in their student section for the Virginia game. Game is on FSN right now. Check it out. Someone should mention that to Favors. We filled up our student section pretty well for the Marquette game when our students were on break.

Wow Stanford has scored 103 points against Texas Tech, who is 6th in the nation in ppg, and there is still over 6 minutes left.

Texas Tech - 66
Stanford - 111

TT was scoring 86.1 ppg coming into the game. Stanford only committed 7 turnovers in the game.

Wow, Chris Wright was the best player on the floor.

No worries, though... we have Javi.

^ he has games where he absolutely dominates (Wiscy, Miami) and then games where he completely looks like a stiff (tonight). Odd...

UConn will win this one though. G'Town making all sorts of prayers...

Picture 25 is great. The stupid kid from Indiana in the picture 1 doesn't know how to spell Tar Heels correctly. Also if he's from West Lafayette then he needs to be supporting Purdue. Is it wrong for me to have wanted to be there and tell the kid that he spelled Tar Heels wrong and that maybe he should have gotten on Stub Hub before driving hundreds of miles without a ticket to the game.

Tar Heels is two words not one. Also why do some words have the first letter capitalized and some don't. Either do it all the same or capitalize only the first word.

How about that new Big East tourney? All 16 teams qualify for a tournament that takes five days.

#1-4 get a double bye and start play on Friday.
#5-8 get a bye and start play on Thursday.
#9-16 play on Wednesday and must win five in a row to be crowned champion.

Seems like a possible way to get more Big East teams into the NCAAT. I kinda like the idea of teams not getting snubbed.
