that's not true. non-capital murder cases, bond can be quite low. 2/20/2009 4:33:42 PM |

OK, find some FDM cases where you have a bond, and compare them to those that don't have bonds. There is an overwhelming difference. I am speaking for NC, also, but I am pretty sure its goes for most places. No bond for murder of the degree is pretty standard. 2/20/2009 4:35:18 PM |

just because he could get out for 15% doesnt mean he can find someone to do it for him. thats a huge risk bond to post
plus, think about it.... you're facing first degree murder and youre not a millionaire. you can either flush 300k or you can maybe hire an attorney or 2.
it would likely cost that much, too. i know from personal experience that the average attorney fee to take a class D felony to trial is 25,000 dollars.2/23/2009 3:26:56 PM |

i'm just saying if he's acquitted, they likely won't arrest anyone else, so everyone will always wonder if he was really innocent or if he got away with murder. it'll ruin his life and follow him wherever he goes. not to mention the brainwashing that's likely been going on with his daughters. if he ever got them back, they're liable to hate him. 2/23/2009 6:15:32 PM |

Quote : | "Judge orders phone in Nancy Cooper case to go to defense
Raleigh, N.C. — A Superior Court judge has ordered prosecutors to turn over the BlackBerry of a slain Cary woman to her husband's defense attorneys by Friday.
At a status hearing Thursday, Brad Cooper's attorney, Howard Kurtz, asked Judge Donald Stephens to order prosecutors to turn over the device as well as a copy of a hard drive.
Kurtz said he is concerned that data on the drive could be purged and harm his efforts to defend his client.
Wake County Assistant District Attorney Howard Cummings said agents are working on copying the 16 drives collected from Cooper's house. Stephens ordered that they be turned over to the defense by July 1.
Brad Cooper is charged with murder in the July 12 death of his wife, Nancy Cooper. She was found dead in an undeveloped subdivision several miles from the couple's Cary home.
Stephens also said Thursday that he hopes to start looking at a trial date at the next status hearing, scheduled for Aug. 27. " |

There's no way he should be convicted. Cary Police have really fucked up this case-- it's completely riddled with reasonable doubt. Everything the prosecution has brought to the table has been hearsay, not one shred of real evidence. 3/24/2011 1:07:01 PM |

The jury pool aren't exactly the brightest bulbs in the world. if the prosecution is persuasive enough, they might convict. it's happened all over America for as long as we've had a jury system. 3/24/2011 1:11:59 PM |

Quote : | "Raleigh, N.C. — A police detective testified Thursday that Brad Cooper initially told him on the night of July 12, 2008, that his missing wife had worn a blue summer dress to a dinner party the night before and that the two searched the Coopers' Cary home for it to no avail.
Detective Jim Young was wanting the dress, he said, to provide Nancy Cooper's scent to a tracking dog brought in to help assist in her search after her husband said she never returned from a morning jog.
When they couldn't find the dress, Young said, Brad Cooper told him that he was "quite certain" about the color. Brad Cooper then left the house, returning a few minutes later with his neighbor Diana Duncan to search for what she said had been a black dress, Young said.
Brad Cooper, 37, is now on trial for first-degree murder in his wife's strangulation death. Her body was found July 14, 2008, at a construction site in a new housing development just outside Cary's town limit.
Young, who is one of the lead investigators in the case, said that he, Brad Cooper, Duncan, her husband and another police detective then searched the house a second time, and when they couldn't find a black dress, they settled on a right Saucony running shoe for the dog that Brad Cooper told Young his wife usually wore jogging.
In her testimony on March 11, Duncan testified that she had been outside the Cooper home on July 12, 2008, when Brad Cooper approached her and asked for her help to find the black dress his wife had worn.
She said she later realized Nancy Cooper had worn a green-and-black patterned dress and that she thought Brad Cooper had purposely "compromised" her memory.
Young said Thursday that he actually noticed a teal dress folded over a laundry hamper while he was searching but didn't pay much attention to it. It appeared to him to be a woman's shirt because of the way it had been laid.
"No part of that appeared to be a summer dress, and it definitely was not black or blue," he said.
Thursday marked the 11th day of testimony for the state, which has so far called more than 30 witnesses, including several of Nancy Cooper's friends and her mother who testified that they believe Brad Cooper killed her.
But prosecutors haven't presented any apparent factual physical evidence to link him to his wife's death.
The past several days, however, have focused on testimony about how investigators preserved, collected, tested and stored evidence. Such testimony is standard in murder trials, and it doesn't necessarily support any theory or argument by the state.
Brad Cooper's defense attorney, Howard Kurtz, has characterized Cary police's work in the case as "inept" and "dishonest," saying they disregarded evidence that didn't support their theory that Brad Cooper killed his wife.
Kurtz spent much of Thursday morning cross-examining Cary police detective Todd Thomas about computer forensics and procedures used to secure and collect evidence from cell phones and computers taken from the Cooper home.
He suggested that Thomas did not follow proper protocol when it came to examining cell phones." |
What I think stands out is that he said she went out running, but her favorite running shoes were still in the house.
Plus she was left in the ditch with only a sports bra on, why would a random strangler take all of her clothes and socks and shoes with him/her. *Usually kept items(trophies) are small things or atleast just one thing, not everything. I think he killed her after the party and spent all night changing her outfit and setting up her body.

I think you should really reevaluate your conclusion.
Any runner has more than one pair of shoes and will wear separate pairs based on factors ranging from matching to preventing overuse to weather. A shopaholic-housewife-runner definitely has more than one pairs of shoes.
Secondly, she was in a sports bra. Who wears a sports bra to a dinner party? To me, that sounds like she was running, to me.
As for the conclusion from the neighbor that Brad was intentionally trying to undermine her memory, that is highly unlikely. I rarely could tell you what color shirt my girlfriend wore the day/night before, especially if I had drinks. Hell, I couldn't tell you if she wore a blouse or a dress. The fact that he got even one color and the type right its pretty amazing to me.
Honestly, I don't know if he did it or not, but, as a citizen, I could in no way convict this guy based on the inadequate evidence presented by the prosecuting attorneys. I find the overwhelming nature of those in this thread to convict the man, without any real evidence, to be a fine representation of what is wrong with our legal system. 3/24/2011 4:47:27 PM |
