I just want to see FSU win it all because everyone has hated and shat on them all season. I don't care about any of them so might as well cheer to piss off all the SEC mouth breathers and OSU fans. I don't have anything against Oregon but if they win people won't be as pissed as if FSU did. 12/8/2014 8:05:25 PM |

Man, Ohio State is going to get obliterated. I almost feel bad for them. The big ten is so awful this year. The ACC isn't any better, but my lord OSU played some weak competition.
The media has wanted Oregon to win for years now, and they may finally get it this season, but I have a feeling that it's going to be another title for the SEC. 12/8/2014 8:35:31 PM |

The ACC is better than the B1G. Much better, as evidenced by 6th place Coastal finisher, VTs defeat of B1G champion THEEEE OSU.12/8/2014 8:53:36 PM |

Funny how the Coastal caught so much shit for being a terrible division and the winner is now #12 in the nation

It's pretty bad. I mean, it's clear that the SEC, PAC 12, and Big 12 are much better than the ACC and Big Ten ( by the way, can these idiots please change their names already?). That's what makes it so confusing that OSU got in over teams that had been ahead of them for so long and had equal or better resumes.
I think we can all acknowledge that OSU doesn't jump Oklahoma or Texas or even K-State if they're in those spots instead of TCU and Baylor.
It always should have been an 8 team playoff with the power 5 conference champs getting automatic bids and then 3 wildcards from the field at large, but the morons who represent conferences like the MAC and AAC won't allow anything like that to happen. 12/8/2014 9:22:06 PM |

I haven't watched much (any) of Oregons games but I really think they're gonna take it. I think the sec is still king, but not as good as they were 2-8 years ago. And fsu has been scraping by for a while now. Looking forward to seeing mariota go nuts 12/8/2014 9:44:46 PM |

Why do you think the big 12 is better than the acc?
The ACC looked bad for most of the season but now, those wins over Ohio State and Georgia (also usc, south carolina, florida) look better than anything anyone other conference has done.
I realize that the top of the SEC and PAC12 are higher quality than the ACC but I'm not convinced the entire conferences are that much better. I do believe the top of the ACC is significantly better than the top of the big10 and big12. Baylor played nobody out of conference. KState played Auburn and lost. TCU barely beat Minnesota. The big10's top teams got steamrolled in every non conference game. So much of these rankings are based on preseason rankings and the ACC seems to have a lot of dangerous but mediocre teams.
Going back and looking at everyones schedule today (top 25), I don't see how anyone could say
1. Ohio state has a better than TCU. How can we let the lopsided score of 1 game count for so much?
2. Alabama gets a pass for all of their close wins, and a loss and is still ahead of FSU. Both teams beat 3 ranked teams but Florida State didn't play cupcakes out of conference like Alabama. Theres a huge difference between playing w carolina florida atlantic southern miss and playing notre dame oklhaoma state and florida...
That non conference difference is much greater than the difference between playing georgia tech or mississipii state.
College football is no longer about winning every week or the season for that matter. Teams that have the most talent will be picked at the end just because they have talent. If you get down in a game, it makes more sense to pull your guys and lose instead of wearing them out trying to come back so that you can win the next game by 50 and look like the most dominant team in the country. 12/8/2014 11:37:19 PM |

Oh, so that's why after giving (an admittedly in hindsight shouldn't have been) #1 Florida State a huge fight we turned around and lost the next weekend to Clemson 41-0.

Y'all need to quit acting like the VT and OSU game was recent. It was the second week I'd the season, damn. If you honestly think that the big ten is not a decent conference and that it is worse than the acc then you are smoking crack. If you want proof then look at how fsu almost lay to wake forest and how gt almost lost to Georgia Southern and several other shit teams (Tulane, Wofford). Those teams are much worse than a VT that is going to a bowl. So calm down about the big 10 being crap. Sure, they're not as good as before but they have good teams and are at least as good as the acc. OSU took the number two defense to the ringer and shut down one of the best rb's in recent history. If you don't think that osu deserves to be in the top four then the playoff should only support three teams. 12/9/2014 5:46:15 AM |

Georgia southern was 9-3 and would be going to a bowl if it wasn't their first year. And its easy to be the #2 defense when you don't play anybody decent in conference 12/9/2014 6:39:37 AM |

just because Baylor and TCU put up Hawaii-in-the-mid-00's numbers doesn't make that conference significantly better than the ACC12/9/2014 12:35:55 PM |

I don't necessarily think the ACC is great...but I just don't think it's quite as bad as people make it out to be. FSU, GT, Louisville, Clemson are all pretty damn good teams. Clemson's been inconsistent due to injuries to their starting QB throughout the year and they still managed a 9-3 (6-2) record. We know the bottom of the ACC is weak...Wake, Syracuse especially. I'm just not sure that there is quite as much separation between some of the conferences as people believe. The SEC is the best conference. But I don't know that the gap is as big as has been in the past.
And yeah, a mostly unimpressive State team is going bowling. Lots of "undeserving" teams go bowling...that's not because their conferences suck. It's because there's a ton of bowls.

ACC B1G FSU (13-0) > tOSU (12-1) GT (10-3) < Michigan State (10-2) Clemson (9-3) > Wisconsin (10-3) Louisville (9-3) > Nebraska (9-3) Duke (9-3) > Minnesota (8-4) BC (7-5) = Iowa (7-5) NCSU (7-5) > Maryland (7-5) Miami (6-6) > Rutgers (7-5) Pitt (6-6) = Penn State (6-6) UNC (6-6) > Illinois (6-6) VT (6-6) > Michigan (5-7) UVA (5-7) > Northwestern (5-7) Syracuse (3-9) < Indiana (4-8) Wake (3-9) = Purdue (3-9)
I'd give ACC 8, tie 3, and B1G 2. Debate it all you want but I'll still say ACC > B1G. Like it was said earlier, ACC has wins over Georgia, Florida, SCar, USC, tOSU, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, Kentucky. Nobody else can say that. What other conference has more P5 wins than that?

the championship game was so bad it was worth years of poor performance. at a big time program like that, you can't just lose 55-0 to a 3rd string qb and get away clean. 12/10/2014 6:46:15 PM |

Also, it looks like the semi-finals in DIII are set up for a Mount Union vs Wisconsin-Whitewater final again for the 3rd, or 4th year in a row I think.

So this is kinda irrelevant this year, but in the future why would Army/Navy play after the bowls are announced and final rankings are announced? What if one team was sitting on 5 wins, one away from bowl eligibility but the bowls have already been announced? Or, and this is probably never gonna happen, if one was somehow in the playoff conversation how would that work? But, I'm still surprised they do it.
I know they want maximum attention for the game...but what would they do if there were bowl implications?
