It isn't the fact that they are $1 SNGs. It's the fact that they were uninteresting and standard. Posting a hand where you lose a coinflip is pointless. Really posting any bad beat hand that isn't like a 98/2 is pointless because we've seen it a million times. What I would rather see is some hand being posted where you want your play to be analyzed. That's how you/we can get better rather than whining about a bad beat.

Yeah right. No one posts in here to have their plays analyzed. It's just a venting thread.

My buddy plays the same way. He'll have the nuts and not bet. I don't quite understand it either.

some people just want to make sure that the hand gets to show down

i saw a guy check behind in a multiway hand with a royal playing at the borgata 20 game just so he could ensure showdown to get a $5 hat.

you know

instead of that extra 40

not really

i've seen phil ivey lose about $80K in 30 minutes online

and i've seen patrick antonious win about the same in 30 minutes

there's no rhyme or reason to it

highstakesdb.com? Also, there are tons of pros playing 1/2nl that make 6figs+ too. So it depends on what you are looking for.

I posted this story about 6 months ago...

Quote :
"Kind of a neat story....

As many of you may or may not know, I have been in the Navy for nearly 11 years now on submarines. I went to school at NCSU a few years back on a program that let my time in college actually count for active duty. It was a great deal. Anyway I am stationed on a submarine out of Bangor, Washington now. I have been out 4 times now, each time for a period of about 3 months. As you may or may not imagine, life can get pretty tedious being underway with 150 dudes, no women, and no sunlight, so we play cards occasionally to ease the stress.

There is a guy who I play with and talk to a lot about poker, and I have for the past year. He's a nice guy, decent player. We like to talk strategy, hand theory, etc. Anyway, today we were at work (in an actual building) and he was surfing around on the net showing me some websites he frequents and how you can type in players names and see how good they are. Most of mine didn't work because they were either outdated or not supported (I only play BoDog now). Anyway I told him to type in PearlJammed, because I knew Turner's would pop up and he had good stats. Anyway, the guy was like, "What are you doing a search for Jon Turner for?" I was fairly shocked that he could identify Turner from only a screen name, and I asked him how he knew him. He was like, "Jon Turner is one of the best online players in the world."

Now..... I didn't know this. I knew Jon was doing well, but I didn't know that some hillbilly from Oregon would know him. I told the guy that I used to play with Jon almost every night for a couple years, played in our first tournament together, went to Atlantic City together. The guy was actually amazed. I don't think I could have gotten a better reaction if I told him I was banging Carrie Underwood (which would be way better than knowing Jon Turner...)

So anyway Jon, if you're reading this, I guess you're famous, at least in the world of online poker. Congrats on all the success and maybe you can send an autographed picture to me someday."

Well, as a somewhat amazing follow on to it..... I just transferred from my submarine (the Louisiana) and I am currently en route to New York for some shore duty. Finally! Well my friend that I spoke of (Jason) calls me while I am just crossing into Idaho, and he is like "You would never believe who I just met." At first I thought it might be someone way awesome, but as it turns out, it was just Jon. Apparently Jason had satellited into a $1000 buy-in no-limit tourney and he sat down at the same table as Jon. Of course Jason asked Jon if I really knew him.... blah blah blah. It was like he had met his hero. But anyway it's kind of amazing how small of a world it is.

Yeah, I had something similar happen a few weeks ago when I dropped Jon's name. I just kind of nonchalantly mentioned it but I guess he is a big shot now that he is employed by ft.

if it makes you feel any better, I'm 2 for 23 this week in "coin flip" situations where 1 player is all in preflop.

The last one was the best, my JJ vs, AK flop was QQJ but turn and river were QQ too. Think I'll end the week on that one.

That's Holdem Manager. I really like it a lot so far. It doesn't import quite as fast as pt3 but the HUD definitely is better . If pt3 ever gets their act together with their lagging HUD, I may go back to it since that's what I've been used to for so long.

Those #s are off. Also, I play on several other sites under several different names. If I was a poker god I'd quit and play full time. I'm good, but not that good. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Jim asked a question so I answered it.

Not really trying to make a point.

I just know i don't want you at my poker table cause you actually are pretty talented.

That is all. I was just kinda shocked to see the negative ROI.

Aside from the lack of history, those #s don't include ring games I assume.

rules question

blinds are 100/200

Folds to the button who calls, SB with 300 chips goes all in. BB Calls, The button can't reraise at this point right? Only call or fold? If so At what point would he be able to reraise?

If the SB had started the hand with 400 chips(making a legit 2x raise), the Button could reraise the BB.

As played, he cannot.

I'm assuming yall saw Turner on the broadcast last night. I'm not gonna read through the thread to see if anybody already posted about it, but he got some airtime in the second segment last night...

I'm watching it on DVR right now...

Yeah I just watched it. I wish he would have jacked that goofy looking Asian bitch that sucked out on him.

i actually have no clue why i was even watching it, but literally like the only 10minutes of that shit i watched involved turner losing that hand. he played it fine (obviously). can't necessarily hate on the other kid either, kind of a gross spot bc i definetly don't hate the raise at all, and he was kind of getting the right price for the call. i don't know if i call there, but u know, whatever.

You definitely can't blame the asian kid.

Flush and straight draws with 2 cards to come getting 2 to 1 on your money.

Plus he re-raised so it also acts as a potential bluff to take down the pot right there.

GG Turner...just sucks to have trip aces and lose.

His GF isn't that hot in my opinion.
