^did i say he didn't? i was simply clarifying your statement that "he had flush and straight draws." I agree that you can't hate on his call, eventhough i might not've done it. hence my original post on the matter.

IIRC Turner said the guy that sucked out on him said that was an awful call after the fact.

Yeh considering the bet sizing it was a standard donk off.

^^imo arguments against the call would be why risk your whole main event without any real equity advantage in a situation that you will lose 2 out of 3 times. A valid argument.

argument for making the call is it's reasonably deep and maybe you wanna go ahead and try to ride some variance to a bigstack so you actually have a decent chance at going very deep, and all the extras that come with ft appearances at the m.e. and what not. not to mention he put in over 25% of his chips with the raise iirc.

yea the kid definetly said it was terrible after the fact, but he's probably a pretty decent player to get to that position, and even if he didn't like making the call (he dry-heeved as he shoved), there were obviously some reasons that compelled him to call. I guarantee it's FAR from being the worst call he's ever made.

I got my two shirts. I think I actually have a third unordered one if anyone wants to give me a few bucks for it.

Why was that guy allowed to reraise all in? The short stack couldnt even min raise. I know on full tilt you would only be able to call, perhaps its different on pokerstars. I never noticed.

Its definately valuable to know that now. It may change my play in certain circumstances. I think if you raised pre-flop he would of gone all in anyway. Overall, you were kinda lucky he could make that move.

Yeah, I guess I would have played it the same, but I would have been pissed if I made a value call with a shit hand and got raised.

I'd call. I can't see anyone flopping the straight and pushing for that much. Even if they do have it you still have a lot of outs. They could have easily flopped two pair or a pair + straight draw.

Yay for calling stations.

That sucks. Had a similar hand where I flopped the set vs 3 spades and we got all in. Luckily the guy just had a pair and the flush draw and my set held. Your opponent was lucky this time that someone had something. He won't get paid the other 90% of the time.

Yeah, I put him on the draw so made sure I was going to get paid if he wanted to see fifth street.

I basically had the same thing happen a few days ago except with a flush draw

gave the guy terrible odds to call and yet he still called and hit it on the river

pot was around $120

What are the best MTTs (non-rebuy) to play on Stars and FT? Currently I'm only playing in the Sunday Two-hundred Grand and Sunday Million on Stars...

It all depends on your bankroll. I'm going to start committing myself to the $4 buyins with top prize 200. Somebody preached about those earlier, and I played in several this weekend with promising results.

David0603 clearly plays a decent amount of MTTs, so listen to him if you're looking to spend 50-100 or better per tourney...

I was referring to the weekly/daily "majors"

My best finish thus far is in the early start on stars for 12.5K. I also usually play the mulligan or second chance. I can't remember what they call it on Stars vs FT. I usually also play the $100 one at 1pm, the $50 one at 5pm, and the $100 one at 7pm. I usually play the 200K as well because its $11 for a possible 20K payouts but overall I like the FT structure better. I still think my fav tourney thus far is the $200 UB 200K at 5pm. Usually there is a nice overlay. I won 11K in that a few weeks ago as well.

I usually don't play any tournaments after 7 so I don't get to bed too late, but that is a pretty popular one as well. I'm a big fan of the double stacks too.

what kind of hands do you like to defend you blinds with?
I've seen something that said you're better off defending with something like J7 instead of something like KQ because you stand a better chance of not being dominated if you hit your hand and its easier to get away from if you miss. Say you're against a loose opponent in one hand and you're against a tight player in another mid way though a tournament. We seem to have some pretty sharp players here...just curious on opinions.

I rarely defend my blinds. If I have a small stack I might defend them by going all in or if a short stack raises I might push him all in but its just too risking too much too make a 3x raise on top of a 3x raise. I might call early on when the bb vs stack ratio is huge esp with a lot of people in but with solid play you don't really need to make any stellar reads / defend bbs to place.

Noidroid hosted last year. I'm in Durham, but I'll be happy to host if we can't get anyone else in a more central location.

In the mid stages of a tournament I re-steal quite a lot when i'm in the 10-15BB range. If someone raises on the button or CO+1 and my HUD has them either attempting to steal more than 30% or they are running tight passive (9/2/2-ish) i'm willing to go all in with an incredibly wide range of cards. I just recently registered for Cardrunners (which is kick ass BTW) and theres quite a lot of discussion in tourney videos about the best situations to 3bet light, I def recommend looking for some threads on 2p2 or something about it, because its a huge part of mid-late game play.
