The iPhone warranty is 1 year, and it hasn't been a year since the 5 was released. So it should be covered, no question. I'm surprised they even gave you a hard time about it. I've replaced 3 iPhone 5s now, all due to the dust in camera problem, and each time have been in and out in about 10 minutes flat.

Either this is a really widespread problem with the iPhone 5, or I'm just very unlucky. I replaced the latest one last night, and when I told the Genius that I had dust in the camera he said "that's actually pieces of the sapphire lens chipping off inside the housing". Not sure if that's true, but WTF I thought this stuff was supposed to be tough as nails...

Any idea why my gmail account (set up as exchange) has suddenly stopped pushing email to my iPhone 5? It worked fine one day and then the next I have to go into my mailbox and refresh it to get new messages.

My iphone5 struggles to hook up to the Bluetooth in my car audio. Fiancee's slightly newer iphone5 usually hooks up with no problem. You have to fuck with mine (turn Bluetooth connection on/off several times...turn app on/off several times) for about five minutes...and even then it still doesn't work a majority of the time.

Is this fixable? Would apple replace it on those grounds?

i had the same problem. i had to delete the phone from the car's bluetooth list via the voice menu - not using the dash display/buttons, & re-pair it. what kind of car do you have?

An old '03 4runner. I got a Tranzit blue device installed a few months ago, so I don't have the option of taking my device off of it. Its suppose to recognize any device that has the Tranzit Blue app.

Guess I'm going to have to take it in to the car audio shop...

Saturday evening my Iphone5's exterior speaker stopped working. Thus, it now does not ring for phone calls or beep for msgs (text, FB, really any alert that has sound). I also cannot play music on it. Thankfully the "ear" speaker still works, for when on phone calls. But switching to speakerphone does not work, I can't hear the person on the call. Music plays if I plug headphones into the jack. Likewise music will play over bluetooth linked devices.

Sounds like a dead external speaker, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and knew what was causing it? Perhaps some software glitch? My iPhone5 was new in November so this is pissing me off a bit.

For clarification, the iPhone 5 has a 1 year warranty yes?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I haven't been paying attention to the jailbreak scene for a while and am about to travel abroad. My ATT iPhone 5 is running iOS 6.1.2 on baseband 3.04.25. Is there a straight forward unlock process available?

Jailbreaking and unlocking haven't had much to do with each other for quite some time now. Try telling AT&T that you're planning on traveling and see if they will unlock your phone for you (they will unlock it to any GSM provider except for other US ones like T-Mobile) Some people have had luck with that, it helps if your account is in good standing and you're a long-time customer. If that doesn't work, you can unlock your phone using a service like Chronic Unlocks.

So I've had my 5 for a while now, at least 6-8 months or whatever, and now my phone is suddenly not charging right. It says "charging is not supported with this device" or whatever when its a regular apple lightning cable.. Never seen it til the last 2-3 days. Anybody ever had this problem? It does still charge most of the time, just have to make sure every once in a while

I have one of those cigarette lighter USB adapters that i plug my iphone USB in to charge it on the road.

It worked great until last week. I got the same notification on my iPhone. "Charging is not supported by this device"

I figured the adapter had gone bad since it always worked... I have never received the warning with my regular AC charger.


BTW, Apple is showing off the 5s and the 5c on September 10.

Info and pics online show that the 5c is a plastic, cheaper version of the iPhone targeted toward the midrange market.

The 5s will have more ram, faster clocked CPU, better camera, iOS7, and a few other things... Not expected to be different from the 5 on the outside.

Got it, I don't think AT&T will honor any unlock requests unless you are out of contract. I'm willing to use chronic unlocks if its reputable. Will that stick if I have my phone replaced under warranty?

The 5 will continue to be supported until the end of warranty / AppleCare periods. Why wouldn't you spend the extra $100 to get a 5s that will be supported with iOS updates for an additional year, has new hardware inside and will have longer resaleability.
