Welcome to the blogosphere (haha, remember that gem?) where anyone can get anything published.

I'm just glad for the info. Every time I read something about Tyler, it's always glowing positive and ends with him winning over doubters. I can't wait to see him in red and white.

I like this for some reason. Mikulic seemed like less of a project than Vandenburg, definitely more polished, but not sure we're gonna be winning ACC championships with middle tier guys. I like what the new staff is doing even more than ever now, they clearly know who and what they want in recruits. However, i wish him well, and maybe he'll blow up and i'll be wrong.

I didn't see this posted anywhere on the last 3 pages. Not really big news, but nice to know it's official now...

Jaqawn Raymond signed his LOI to us today.

^^^ Its always unfortunate to loose a commitment. Unless they are able to replace that spot with someone better in the same class, I will stand by my position. We are the kind of school that has to have SOME kids come in who are projects, as well as mostly 4* types, with a few 5* guys sprinkled in here and there.

Again, at this point its our loss ... unless the tides change.

true, but with the recruiting swagger that the new staff has, I feel pretty good that they can land someone better. Good thing Josip is only a junior.

Do you really expect this staff to recruit better than Sid?

didn't say that. The fact that the staff evaluated Josip and pretty much withdrew his offer tells me that they realize there are bigger fish out there and they believe they can catch them.

I agree. And I have no problem losing Josip either. I just wonder what others expectations are for recruiting from this staff. As poor of a coach as Sid was, he was a really good recruiter, and I dont expect Gottfried to do much better than Sid did over the past few years..

well Gottfried had the number 1 team in the nation (albeit for 2 weeks) and Lutz was bringing some top 150 guys to UNCC.

It took Sid several years to get a hot recruiting class. I am not saying he will be better than Sid but I have confidence in their ability.

Gottfried pulled in #1 recruit Gerald Wallace at Alabama, so that's got to be worth something

Gottfried pulled in at least fourteen 4*/5* players during his time at Alabama

Lowe got 8 in five years - not bad. (10 if you want to count Cothron and Uchebo)

I don't expect the current staff to make a big splash immediately. But I feel like they'll be able to get it going.

Gottfried also landed top recruit Schea Cotton after we couldn't make it happen.

Here's the problem with looking at Sid and recruiting. He recruited a good class based on the fact that the word on the street was that all he needed was a stellar class to really have a great season. How well do you think he would have recruited if the players, HS coaches, AAU coaches etc. see the results: below mediocre (records) with great talent. I would envision more classes like the CJWilliams class; 9-12 finishes in the ACC classes.

so how many scholarships do we have open for this coming season? 1? i would assume that with Uchebo we were full, and that without him obviously we would have 1 to give.

Oh... ive heard of this... Allergies to the Truth. Here's a hanky from my ass

"I would envision more classes like the CJWilliams class; 9-12 finishes in the ACC classes."

that's the last sentence. What's the problem, mentioning CJWilliams by name? I just couldn't remember who left/transferred from that class. I'm not calling him out, he's obviously developed and played as hard as anyone on the team. But the point is, how many classes do you want where two years later, there's only one guy from the class left? And finishing in the bottom 1/4 of the ACC every year isn't going to get you the classes you need to compete. You'll just get a roster full of borderline 3* recruits max (but they'll play their little hearts out for tdub).

^ packinsider has a nice montage video of him and the thing that sticks out after watching it is that this kid has such sound fundamentals. He scores a circus layup and he's immediately playing fullcourt defense getting off his ass.

I found what John Blake has been up to. Apparently, he's a cameraman and it looks like he's trying to sway Raymond to go UNC at the last moment

Yeah, I'm sure UNC really wants that Raymond kid. I heard they wanted him so Barnes wouldn't have to play so many minutes next year.

Unfortunately, our coach came in the game way too late. It would take a miracle for him to bring in anyone of significance this year. It may be wise to just focus on next year and beyond.

I'm not hating on the guy at all. Only pointing out that unc is so loaded with talent and recruits on such a level that they barely even realize a guy like Raymond exists. He's not even an afterthought to them.

And I think it's laughable to even joke(and yes I realize it was only a joke) about such a thing and find a way to needlessly bring unc into a state recruiting thread to remind me of how we're pulling in unranked players while 5-star recruits and preseason all americans are lining up to go there, blow off the nba, and stay until they win a championship.
