weakened trees from the tornado in april...just weak or dying trees in general prone to the gusts. i mean why does any tree fall during any storm ever? just last week a neighbor of ours lost a tree during a thunderstorm we had.

even if raleigh didn't see anything but the very outer rim of the hurricane, it was still a storm that occurred over a duration of at least 8 hours here. i would say over 12 as when i was up feeding Ryan during both of his night feedings I was already hearing wind and branches falling on our roof. that's a long time and should certainly be taken in to account when assessing damage.

and anything east of us is certainly understandable.

i could tell a difference in the weather just driving from cary to the saucer yesterday. we didn't have a lot here, but it was definitely worse as i drove down just those few miles.
