well, i'm sure some "confessions" aren't really confessions. Like, someone never gets a message. They could just PM the lie they came up with to another user, but someone might also want to project that other people are sending them confessions, and good confessions. 1/12/2012 9:23:03 PM |

Quote : | "how late is too late to have an intervention with someone getting married? We all knew the girl was bat-shit crazy. She's verbally abusive, freeloading, and manipulating. But prohibiting the groom from going on his own bachelor party? With the destination booked, ticket paid for, all of your friends committed. And it's all our fault for not okaying the trip (that you wanted) with your fiance first. " |
this is a toughie, but i'd say its too late for an intervention if the wedding is planned/booked already. but if you're his friend you'll let him know how you feel and do what you gotta do to keep your friendship.
ive lost one good friend to marriage, its been pretty tough1/12/2012 10:39:10 PM |

This would happen with quite a lot of females I know. That's how they are.
Why did you not okay the trip first? You got nothing now!1/12/2012 11:23:11 PM |

Sounds like the grooms fault for not mentioning it to the bride. Either way, doesn't sound like they should be getting married if they're this dysfunctional already. 1/13/2012 12:02:24 AM |

she's scared she'll get a call from vegas that he's fell in love with a dancer named Randi who's going to university to get her PhD and he's not coming home 1/13/2012 12:14:32 AM |

He should go anyway. If she calls the wedding off he avoids a controlling bitch. If she doesn't he sets the tone for how things will work from now on. 1/13/2012 12:35:35 AM |

Yeah, I wouldn't want to marry someone who booked a party trip without telling me, in the last couple of weeks before our wedding, possibly backed out on other commitments, and then went on said trip against my wishes anyways. Seems immature. 1/13/2012 7:57:38 AM |

Without more details we can't know she's the crazy one. Maybe he didn't even tell her the date? Maybe it was a "by the way, the guys called me, and apparently we're going to Vegas Friday, sorry I can't help with all this stuff you wanted me to help with."
If it's a simple matter of him not telling her *where* they were going, I agree, that's taking it too far. But if he didn't tell her about the trip at all? What kind of relationship is that?

i was not aware that the grooms were always included on bachelor party plans mainly because if they were they'd mention it to future wife and be told they couldn't go... 1/13/2012 9:20:09 AM |

I do think the girl also needs to know who she is marrying and try not to change him. I would never marry someone who on a whim goes to Vegas and possibly get into the types of shenanigans had in sin city but she should know that about him already, right? People should change on their own and out of their free will. I hope she is not in this marriage to change him because the would make her cray cray.

Or maybe, just maybe, he's using his future wife as an excuse to back out of a trip he doesn't want to go on. 1/13/2012 9:26:02 AM |

id be thrilled for my guy if his friends surprised him with a trip to vegas, unless it conflicted with something big we had planned/paid for like a separate vacay. it would have been nice for the groomsmen to check with her or his family to make sure that there wasnt anything else going on... this is all only if it was a 'surprise' for the groom, but i dont think it was, i think he knew about it, at least the date.
she's got the REST OF HER LIFE to wallow on the couch with him and bitch at him to clean up the kitchen, who cares if he's gone for a weekend? and what happens in vegas stays in vegas... unless of course you bring back the herp, yeah don't do that. 1/13/2012 9:28:10 AM |
grimx #maketwwgreatagain 32337 Posts user info edit post |
based on the confession posted you can't really tell what he knew and didn't know (the groom), just that now the future wife knows and apparently it is her putting her foot down 1/13/2012 9:29:40 AM |

BACHELOR PARTY POOPER confession update:
Quote : | "the funny thing is this trip is NOT to Vegas. It's not even anywhere I would consider that wild and crazy. And the other funny thing is the trip isn't until JUNE! and the wedding is in September. She knew we were planning a trip, but she won't let him go because it's not a weekend she had okayed first. I think 5 months is enough lead time to cope " |

^^Completely different situation there. And yes, that seems crazy. Although, still possible he's using her as an excuse (I've had guy friends do this before).
And no, DB, I've actually never been burned by any kind of guy. If you want to know the truth, I dated one person, and married him, and encourage him to attend bachelor parties and be a part of the guys. He won't go to strip clubs for his friend's parties, even though I okay it, so I wonder if his friends think I'm the prude.

sounds like this future wife is already trying to get controlling on him.
i'd say pull your friend aside and tell him they're not all that bad.
he might not like it now, but if he goes through with it he'll save a trip to the courthouse in 3 years time 1/13/2012 9:40:53 AM |

It's kind of funny, because I'm the least prudish. I have a sister who won't let her husband go to a Hooter's with my husband, brother-in-law, and Dad. And another sister who doesn't like her husband to get massages from women...
I think most of his close friends know I'm not the prude, they know me better than that. 1/13/2012 9:42:37 AM |
