Supervisor: This computer isn't working. You are a man, you can fix it.

Me: Hmm, uhh. It looks like the monitor isn't plugged in.

Supervisor: Yes it is, look!

Me: No, that connects it to the graphics card, it needs a power cable.

Supervisor: Not, look, its plugged into the harddrive.

Me: That's not the hard drive.

Supervisor: Yes it is, look at it.

Me: That's the tower. The harddrive is in the tower.

Supervisor: We'll anyway, it's plugged in so why isn't it working?

Me: Its NOT plugged in, you need a power cord that goes from HERE to the outlet (points to plug in back of monitor)

Supervisor: Where do I get one of those?

Me: What happened to the other one? Never mind, just use one from those old computers piled in the corner.

Supervisor to other supervisor: Thanks, I told you to ask a man.

When someone knocks on my door while I'm on the phone, but I can't figure out who it was because I asked everyone I actually talk to.

And also, when everyone I need to talk to is out of the office.

And when I call a number that's listed everywhere, yet it's still apparently wrong.

When someone is in a file that I need to modify or delete. Or when the computer just thinks someone is, because nobody who could conceivably have it open does ... or they're lying.

the woman in the cubicle beside mine is talking about the pants that she just bought, and apparently it takes at least 20 minutes to describe them

Subject: exchange server/emails

Did we lose data recently on our email server?

I'm randomly losing emails out of my email folders, which are organized enough that I kind of have an idea of where things are and should be, and then I go back and find entire email conversations have disappeared.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

So I sent out an email to let everyone know I had a rather large print job, and how about I run back to my desk, then go to the printer and someone has taken it off the printer and like stacked it on the table. The shit was collated!!!! I had to go through all those copies and separate them again.

WTF?!?!?! How hard is it to just sit it on the table. I guess they thought they were doing me a favor and completely failed

^i hate hate HATE that shit. i've had countless print jobs all fucked up b/c someone thought they were being helpful when really they're just wasting time. if i printed it, then it's mine. if you printed it, it's yours. let's keep it that way.

and don't bring stuff to my desk. if i left it up there it's b/c i'm printing out more stuff and need to bind it all together. having to run back and forth trying to find all my papers makes me mad.

Came into the editing room today and my mentor had been in there working on editing photos. She's a bitch and gives crappy advice, anyone at the studio can vouch for it.

Anyway, there's several patches of blood on the damn chair. I mean, not just drops, patches. Still glistening. And a finger smear of it on the damn desk next to the computer. I had been talking to her about some details from the morning shoots and she was acting like she was in pain, and I asked her if she was alright, and she told me she had cramps...

I can only imagine what was going through her mind when she realized she had period all over the office chair, rubbed herself to see if she had bled through, and when she found blood on her finger, wiped it on the damn desk.

This woman is in her forties! For crying out loud!

the term "task force"

it's like they randomly selected a group, armed them with riot gear, and sent them on a mission to remove gum from under desktops

Dell. Not their computers--no, those are fine. Their packaging. Must every fucking thing in the box be in a bag, inside of a bag, inside of a box, with the cord secured with multiple twist ties? Why are the ends of video cables wrapped in little sheets of foam? GAH. It's extremely irritating, it makes setting up a new computer take longer than it needs to, and it's pretty damn wasteful too. Let's generate MORE trash.

I hate when I run out of water and have to walk around the corner to get more.

I hate when there hasn't been some tradeshow/party/event at work in at least two weeks.

I hate when my director makes us all take two days off to go to his house and drink and learn about design theory.

I REALLY hate that I don't have any set hours and roll into work at like 9:30-10 everyday and its okay.

I hate that I have tons of toys in my office and only an hour or two a day to play with them.

I get unbelievably angry when people with food stamps buy shit I haven't been able to afford in MONTHS

I'm fine if they buy the essentials, things like bread, eggs, beans, and rice.

But fucking popsicles, Diet Hawaiian Punch, fresh pineapple, and a ton of damn chocolate?

People who think food stamps are a good idea should look at what these fuckers actually buy. I'm glad they take MY money from working 35 hours a week so someone else WITHOUT A DAMN JOB can buy food I can't afford.

One of my coworkers got an offer letter from someone working with Black Berry phones.

I kind of want her to take it because it's better money and a secure job, but if she leaves we lose our network admin and 1 out of our 3 person team and I genuinely like her!

It's also fun working with another girl because I didn't for 2+ years, and I know it's unlikely they'd hire another woman.

what does it take to be eligible for food stamps?

say, if I was working an unpaid internship and had limited income (student loans) could I qualify?
