Desmond had a vision about her and Aaron getting into a helicopter if Charlie were to die at the Looking Glass. Charlie died so she has to get into a helicopter with Aaron at some point.

yeah, i definitely said "in her sleep"... as in after they got to camp.

Quote :
"but claire being dead and being something akin to a zombie just seems crazy, even for Lost"

Who said anything about zombies?

I acknowledged that I didn't think of the fact that her body should still be there. But even then... we know the smoke shit can pick stuff up and move it. We also know there is a ring of grayish powder around the cabin (could have to do with the smoke shit... maybe not). And someone said Christian's body went missing, so it wouldn't be the first time.

But there is definitely something up with Claire just up and leaving her baby (i'm sure everyone agrees with this). She wouldn't do that under normal circumstances... and she wouldn't be hanging out in a cabin laughing and shit while her baby was out in the elements. Of course, it's also not normal to see your father, who should be dead (although she doesn't know that), on a remote island. They didn't really show any interaction between Claire and Christian, but two things which probably would have come up are... A) Claire asking how her father, who she barely knows, how he is on the island she crashed on and how he found their camp... and B) him saying something that would make her not only leave her baby in the woods, but to be so cool with it that later she is just hanging out, laughing, and seemingly not worried about Aaron.

I'm not saying that I definitely think she is dead, it was just a thought I had and was wondering if anyone else had a similar thought. I don't think there is anything that explicitly makes it impossible (in the world of Lost), or more accurately... there are things which have happened which make it possible. Time will tell though.

That's a good point. Probably the strongest against the possibility of her being dead.

^^ In my mind she would have been like Charlie, Christian, Walt, and others who are believed to be dead/and or missing but who have been seen by various characters. I don't know if they're ghosts, dead, alive, time traveling, real, whatever... but more along those lines than a dead body up and walking around. I just didn't think of the simple fact that the body would still be back at camp, which pretty much puts a plug in the idea unless the body was moved.

In addition to those, I would accept Kate, Claire, Naomi, Libby, Nikki, Shannon, and even M-rod.

methinks the black guy who was the orderly might be jacob?

i really can't start to speculate as to who abaddon or alpert are.

but i'm pretty sure he isn't jacob.
why would abaddon hire naomi to attack the island then move it in defense from the people that he ordered to come here?

we do know that he told her that there were no survivors then later asks hurley if 'they' were still alive. not sure what this is a reference too and i'd assume we'll figure this out in the next 2 or 3 weeks considering his team is already back on the island and we already know what locke has to do to 'save' the island.

^^ That's possible, although the only thing I could possibly think of that would go against it is the episode where Locke and Ben first went to the cabin and Ben was talking to Jacob but Locke couldn't see/hear Jacob. Then things started going crazy and stuff started flying all over the place and for a split second you could "see" Jacob sitting on the rocking chair. When you could see him, he wasn't black and he had hair. It might have been Jack's dad again or Jacob might be the smoke monster that can change shapes, etc.

i'm really iffy about jacks dad.

i think people who arrive on the island and are already dead are reanimated by the island (like Yemi). Then again (according to lostpedia) yemi appeared to eko right before the smoke monster did. Maybe they are all somehow connected.

could be confirmed if we see the dead docter wondering around followed by the smoke monster.

I think Abaddon works for Whidmore (or vice versa).
He knew there were survivors on the island, but told Naomi there weren't, winking at her and telling her to kill anyone that claims to be a survivor. This is necessary to maintain the lie of the wreckage that was found in the Trench. He asks Hurley if they were still alive to find out if Naomi did her job and killed the rest.

I think the Christian we see on the island is not his dead body reanimated but is actually the smoke monster taking his form. At the same time, I think it really is Christian in mind/spirit and that the smoke is only a way for him to communicate from death.

The smoke monster can only take the form of someone that is dead, but when it does it actually brings that person to the island. Locke's dad thought that he was in hell/purgatory because the last thing he remembered was being in a car accident in Tennessee before he appeared on the island.

I don't think that Jacob is the smoke monster. Maybe Jacob is dead and can only communicate with/through the dead people that the smoke monster summons.

His character was initially introduced as Zeke back when very little was known about the Others. That is when he was wearing a fake beard and we thought he was their leader.

no one ever called him Zed.
Sawyer called him Zeke or Bluebeard a couple times each.
Fans called him the Gorton's fisherman for a short bit after his first appearance.
The producers called him Mr. Friendly until he was given an actual name at the end of season two.

[Edited on May 13, 2008 at 11:21 AM. Reason : some speculate that 'friendly' actually is his last name, which would be awesome, imo]

first off

Ryan, Zeke is what the guy was called and yes that took place before he was shot.

I doubt the smoke monster is jacob for those saying that because Ben can obviously summon the smoke monster but can't summon jacob, from what we've seen thus far.

I don't think the smoke monster summons dead people or takes the form of them or anything in that direction, personally. to take the locke's dad example, he was killed (or rekilled) by sawyer and didn't make any appearance of dissipating into smoke or a non-flesh state.

People have visions out there. Some times its people who have already died or some times its people who are just away from the island, but we've never really seen any evidence of them being alive in the traditional sense of the word.

its likely an explanation we have as of yet to concoct. at the end of this season i think we'll have most of our answers in that direction.

^lol

btw, the writers have said that we have seen the smoke monster more times than we think, and that sometimes when it is on screen we just don't know it. That is the main reason I think that at least some of the dead people on the island (specifically Yemi) are actually it. Whatever it is (nanobots or something), it obviously has the ability to "read" people's minds so I'm thinking that it is just able to take someone from your memory and manifest itself like that. I'd really like to know what that sound it makes is though... I remember even hearing it in that episode about Nikki and Paulo that nobody liked at the part when the spiders started coming out of nowhere.

Before this season started, the writers said that we have seen the smoke monster more times then we know, it has just taken the shape of something else. We already know it is able to read people's minds, so I think that for example on the case of Eko, it read his mind and manifested itself as Yemi who we already know to be dead.

I'll sign on to what you say in part, but i still disagree with it being connected to who was in the cabin. especially given that christian also showed up on the mainland/real world. i seriously doubt that the smoke monster is capable of such a range.

Random question, probably covered a long time ago:

Rousseau's distress signal that the survivors found in the pilot episode, it said something like "They're all dead, it/he has killed them all." Was that in reference to the purge?

I haven't been paying much attention to this show the past two seasons, so I've probably missed it. Troll away.

I don't think so, she was never a member of the Dharma Initiative. She came to the island years after the purge.

I think Rousseau was around for the purge. The Horace guy from Locke's dream said he's been dead for 12 years, the tape has been playing for 16 years. That of course debunks the theory that the signal was related to the purge, but maybe Sayid just messed up his math.

--

From the Lostpedia article on the purge (hardly factual, but more credence to my post):

Quote :
"How did Danielle Rousseau survive the Purge?"

Lostpedia also says that Rousseau sounded like she was out of breath on the message. I don't remember that, but it seems like it could be caused by the gas.

Quite a few great eps so far this season. Phuck all the haters.
Buuuut they really have raised more questions than answers -yet again.

Based on the pure number of linkages that are surely involved in all of the scenarios that form the 'solution' to wtf is going on here - it can only get better once they finally begin to converge....

woot! uscg Aviation with the "rescue"

k, so to harp on about the only thing in lost that I know about without having to google it.

They do have C-130's stationed out of Barber's Point, HI but minimum crew for a C-130 is 2 Pilots (shown) 1 Nav, 1 Radioman and at least 2 crew in the back.
Basically there were no enlisted types on that flight in the lost world...

Michael was an artist/architect type who at least dabbled in mech engineering/design. Remember he designed/built an aqueduct system and 2 seaworthy rafts on the island.

I think the idea behind him having to fix the engines was the fact that he was the one who fucked them up to start with, so he'd know what had to be undone.
